Reviews For Eclipse of the Soul, the Sevitus version
Author's Response: Oops. Double posting.
Author's Response: Oh... I don't know about that. In canon, even though Hermione was never good on a broom or an athlete, she was always very supportive of her house team. This game clinched the Quidditch Cup for Gryffindor; why not a celebration kiss? And yes, Neville needed redemption. Thanks for your input, SHaria
Author's Response: Thank you for sharing your thoughts silverstargirl. I totally agree with your comments regarding courage and yes, Neville got the opportunity to prove himself. After all, he didn't ask to get Imperiused and when the chips were down, he came through with flying colors. What he did in this chapter will affect him later on in the story. As for Neville's patronus- he didn't have one in canon, so I made his Patronus a peacock which symbolizes many different things (dependant upon the culture) from wisdom, patience and kindness to thriving in the face of suffering. I thought Neville deserved a super cool Patronus. Hugs, SHaria
You also have some other interesting plot twists such as Neville's imperius and later patronus. I like your portrayal of the Weasleys and Dumbledore and Hermione. I loved the canon books, but realized, of course, that in real life a child could never have been raised like Harry was (emotional abuse), suffered more emotional abuse by one of the professors in his school, and then lose every adult he cared for, and turn out "normal" and loving and perfectly able to make friends, etc. Of course the books were children's fiction, but it is nice to have fanfic where the issue of the effects of such trials and tribulations are dealt with more realistically. Again, great story. Author's Response: Thank you JolisGSD for your kind words and for letting me know that this fic was rec'd on Aspen's site (AYLNO is my alltime favorite Sevitus). If you've read any of my previous comments regarding my reasons for writing the original Eclipse, you'll see that I totally agree with you regarding Harry's reactions to all that had happened to him, and I wanted to explore why Severus was the way he was and give him an opportunity to heal. That being said, I want to reiterate that all of this belongs to JKR. She is a genius and has enriched our lives with the fabulous HP universe which she created. I typically receive so few reviews, I'm not certain why but can only assume that the majority of readers are displeased. So thanks again for sharing; your comments have been very encouraging. SHaria
Yes, I like your story. Yes, I liked the chapter. Although, I wish we could see some more Harry/Snape emotional interaction. Bring on the angst! lol Long chapters are wonderful too. :) Author's Response: Yay success! Believe me- the angst is coming, but there is also ground work to lay down. And we actually have had quite a bit of heavy / depressing events so this is just a lighter moment. Yin and Yang. Thanks for the feedback, its much appreciated. SHaria
Author's Response: Great observation karee. Remus was never around very much in canon. I can understand with the whole werewolf thing that it would have been close to impossible to have an active/consistent role with Harry, but somewhere along the line the wolfbane potion came out- and he still wasn't around. (the Wolfbane potion makes it so that the indiviual suffering with lycanthropy can maintain their intelligence during their monthly transformation.) JKR never really adressed this, but if I were Harry I would have felt resentment and perhaps some anger. Especially after his third year. So yes, I have a Harry and a Remus that have some distance between them (since they never talk all that much) and Harry is resentful. This entire situation take some time to resolve. In my Snarry series, this doesn't happen until the end of the second book. I'm not sure yet how I am going to handle things with this Sevitus version. Hugs to you, SHaria
So Severus did good all around *grin*. I really love how he's growing closer and closer to Harry. Author's Response: And here again are events that have a means to an end (or at least a progression). This incident with Neville will effect both he and Severus. We witnessed Severus' already: he discovered a connection with Harry he never dreamed of and he also realized that perhaps he cares for Harry (platonically in this fic) more than he realized. As for Nevile, you'll have to wait and see. Thanks again for reviewing. Hugs, SHaria
Why do I have a feeling that amulet that Severus gave to Harry is going to come in handy? Author's Response: Spoken like a fellow author. Yes, there is a reason for everything that happens. Thanks for reading and taking the time to review. SHaria
I wonder if you might be able to post a link to your other version of this story? I'm very intrigues and would like to read it and see the differences, comparing the two. I just found this story and read it and would like to see the flip side of it as well. Possibly other people would too. Thanks! Author's Response: I am glad you are enjoying the story ForgottenEllipses. The Snarry version is finished and posted at HP Fandom under the original title, Eclipse of the Soul. I use the same penname. I am currently posting the revised version of the sequel, which will remain nameless here. Thank you for sharing, SHaria
Author's Response: I totally agree miissny1. I think of the relationship between Harry and Severus as sort of yin and yang. Where one is strong the other is weak, and visa versa and I will be working with this dynamic in this Sevitus version. Thanks for sharing. SHaria |
