First I was rather confused. I remember another story about Mark and Harry, and I was almost certain that Mark's parents weren't abusive. And they weren't there, I've cheked. But, well, it's different story and they are different characters; only Mark and Harry stay the same. I think it's good you've showed another kind of Mark's parents. You've done what you could to make this story at least slightly different that the first one fanfiction for this challenge. And I'm glad that you did it.

Good chapter; I loved Ron and Hermione's argument (not to mention Ginny's pert comment about their feelings). I wonder whether Mark Evans father would risk behaving so abusively in a public place, however; there are always policemen at Kings Cross and it's very crowded- abuse tends to happen behind closed doors.

Author's Response: Good point.  People are crazy though.  I don't know how it is there in England, but I've occasionally seen people here in the US in packed grocery stores or public parking lots yelling at their kids, cursing at their kids, or spanking their kids (although I don't considder mild spanking as abuse if used appropriately) amongst other things.  I think that if somebody is abusive behind closed doors they either really don't care about their children, or will have a hard time keeping that under wraps while out in public.  It's a behavior and behavior is hard to change and therefor would show itself in private and in public to some extent.  Great insight though.
