Am I allowed to be critical?
The line of the story was pleasant in general, especially characters like Gan. His observations added an interesting flavor into the study. 10 year old duellers was good idea too.
Interactions in this story seems to be one-sided though. Snape could be nasty and made an error of judgment. But Harry is not all-clean, and I think some of his assessments about Harry have a part of truth. He can be too reckless, and sometimes thinks his difficulties give him right to act against what he's been told and hopes to get away with it. False accusations against him are unfair, but I can see where assessments of Snape come from. And these thoughts does not make him despicable, as he is entitled to his opinions even if some disagree. These descriptions of angelic victim Harry and despicable monster Snape. It might be appear so now, but views of the latter about the former has a part of truth.

    Author's Response:

You're allowed to be critical.  Constructive criticism is always good.  Keep in mind though, that like most Harry Potter stories, this is from Harry's perspective, and as a teenager he's not that introspective about how his own behavior in the past may have caused Snape's attitude towards him.  To Harry, all he sees as a teenager is another adult being unfair to him.  This is a common thread of thought for most teenagers.  They often feel oppressed by their parents or guardians and unjustly punished.  I never said that Snape wasn't right in some ways, but the story is mostly from Harry's perspective, so the reader is seeing through his eyes, feeling what he feels, thinking what he thinks.  As Harry grows and matures it's his job to be more introspective.  If I never started Harry out as somewhat in the wrong in the way he thinks, then he would end up being a flat character with no room to grow.  Snape has already shown him to be a round character, as he grows and realizes he's been wrong in some ways and admits that to himself and others.  He is still growing.  So is Harry.

I just recently found this story and it's been great so far. It's fascinating to learn about a new magical school and all of the cultural differences. I'm hoping that as Harry becomes less of an outcast, we will have some time to develop the international characters more.

Why do I get the feeling that those two teachers are going to cause more trouble for Harry. Glad to see Snape coming around.

You know, I just really loved these latest two chapters. I loved the fact that Snape realized he was being a jerk. A bitter pill to swallow, but it shows his integrity for owning up.

I simply adored and melted at the moment that Harry reached out and touched Snape by the wrist, wanting him to stay with him in the infirmary. That was such a beautiful moment.

I also loved that Snape offered to tutor - even in Occlumency. Good job, Sev! I hope that through it, he learn to be more patient. Good luck, you two!

I look forward to more! This is an awesome story! :3

What a nice turn for Harry, getting new things and reconciliation of kind with Snape. I am looking forward to reading about the diner. I guess the things will go downhill there...

Like the others, this is my favorite story you have written so far! Snape has to be embarrassed that Gan and Adelaide noticed in just a couple of days what he failed to notice in YEARS!
