Reviews For I've Always Wanted a Neighbour Just Like You
Author's Response: Thank you! It's great to hear that my writing is quality. I owe part of that to my Beta, who catches my silly mistakes.
Author's Response: Thanks! I've always considered getting into character a specialty of mine, and I'm glad it's showing! I almost gave Harry the mop, but giving it to Dudley was too good of an opportunity to pass up. As for Snape, well, you'll just have to wait and see.
The only thing that seemed off was how little Harry was able to drink. Surely it is easy to get some from the tap as he is unpacking? I love the music box and the descriptions of the house and Hedwig. Poor Harry is probably starving by now. Thanks so much for sharing this story! Author's Response: Thank you! And at least the Weasleys tried. It's the thought that counts. Thanks for telling me! I'll go back and reread this chapter. I'm afraid I might have made things a little too harsh. I thought I included Harry getting water from the tap, but if not I can go back and edit and make things cleaer. The music box was thought up by my beta because I was having trouble thinking of a memento from Lily. Team effort! And I'm glad you like my descriptions. You'll find all sorts of things if you pay attention to the details, though it may not be obvious until later. ;)
Author's Response: I have to agree with you- the Dursleys are terrible people! It's also sort of a challenge to myself, and something I really wanted to do. There are lots of stories that feature physically abusive Dursleys, and some stories do it very well. What I wanted to see more is emotional and verbal abuse. They're just as harmful as physical abuse, and perhaps even more dangerous because there aren't any outward signs like bruises, so it's easily missed. It's a very personal topic to me, and I'm glad to see that the interactions between Dursleys and Harry are well-recieved.
Author's Response: Trust me, you're not the only one who is wondering where this is going! I have some vague plans, but for the most part this story is writing itself and I'm along for the ride, lol. Thanks for the review!
Author's Response: I was never a Pokemon fan myself, so I had no idea. Nah, it's still '92 in this fic. If I can think of a replacement, I'll edit it in, but since it'll likely never be mentioned again I'm not going to stress about it. Thanks for the review! |
