Reviews For Stolen by a Superhero
She wrote as a child would without depth or understanding of how a child, raised in such a poisonous environment and beaten down every moment that he could remember would actually act and react! Do *not* attempt to defend or legitimize her and her books to me! I'm 59 years old and have read classic Fantasy & Science Fiction my entire life! I also used to review Children's and Youth Fiction for my local library! The truly sad thing is that because children and adults under 30 were discouraged from reading and have nothing to measure this garbage against, they think Rowling is "wonderful"! Well, can truthfully say that it's some of the worst writing I've ever read! Your 2 chapters stand "head and shoulders" above hers on any scale you'd care to use! Funny but related digression: When I read the books in 2005, the American versions had beautiful covers, but I recently saw the original cover art for the UK versions. They look like they were drawn by a TEN-YEAR-OLD and not a very talented 10-year-old either! As that's the level of writing that I found when attempting to read them, I'm not terribly surprised! What did surprise me was the level of unattributed *plagiarism* that Bloomsbury either allowed or conspired to; I recognized characters, plotlines, and scenes from classic stories on a single read-through! What "she" wrote (or the ghostwriters at Bloomsbury) was a highly *pushed* and financial "golden goose" of a FANFICTION without attribution to the writers she *stole* from! Your writing is terrific and if you're not intimidated by the process, something that you should seriously think of pursuing! Really, really well done! Thank you! MelJ Author's Response: Hey, I know you sent this reply 2 years ago but I just wanted to say that I really appreciated everything you said. I saw this a lot closer to when you posted it and it always inspires me whenever I see it again. (Apologies for not replying then, I was 17 and overwhelmed that I was receiving any comments, let alone praise lol) But thank you, I appreciate it
Author's Response: This comment is what made me spend four straight hours finishing chapter two (it's like a month later but I thought you might appreciate it) :)
