Just bacdk after losing track of this fic for so very long!
I can't help but be sad that in all this time, Snape hadn't gained maturity enough to see that even if it had been true, Lily had come to him, sad and remorseful - and all he had done was kick her out. I can easily understand his rage and hurt initially, but with time, one would have thought he would have gained some perspective - after all, he has made some egregious errors, and has been allowed to make up for them - for him to hold so tightly for so long to his anger, and then take it out on a child - well, that is just to very sad. Truly. Has he never really learned?

I liked how you gave us more information on Lily and Snape's relationship. Gives it even more depth.

I also must note... There's a bit where Snape explains to Harry one of the reason's he hated Harry so much was because affair. Which reminds me of my earlier comment, chapters ago, ... and your response. You explained how you wanted to show readers over time about Snape's motives. Well now I'd like to say, I understand that. It is actually much better they way you've written it-than how I suggested it. (do I make sense?)

I also like how you've repressented Harry. He still loses control of his emotions, but he's not just a whinny kid either. He has his moments (a lot of them), where's he's in a lot of control- It makes him really cool. And I think this goes well with the fact that he's maturing. And it goes with his resolution at the begining of your story... to stay focused and kill Voldemort.

    Author's Response:

Thank god, I was going to lose sleep over that tonight. No, I'm not being sarcastic- I would have gotten up and gone to my computer and started reading through the story and the outline searching for that section, lol. I'm anal retentive like that.

I'm glad you like the way I do that. Like I said, I don't like to just hit people with it right away... leaves little room for speculation and makes the plot and story too predictable. mystery=good.

Well, in other words, Harry is a teen. I don't know how old you are, but being in high school, I tend to have a good idea of how all this goes. I am typically more mature than most of my peers- but they all come to me with their problems (some even call me mom) and I can really see the struggles they have in going from kid to adult. As you get older, you have more control over yourself and your reactions... but every once in awhile, you just lose it. It's hard, but necessary to developement, in my opinion. This will give him more direction and strength, in the end.

    Dear gonnabefamous,

    Thanks for the quick update.

Really interesting chapter. I would not have expected Snape to open up so much to Harry so soon (and tell him all from such a personal p.o.v.) - and for Harry to react in that way. I´d rather expected it to be the other way around - or for them both to be very frosty around each other...

But since you write extremely well (especially for a 16 year-old. Gee, I mean. I have read fics from people twice your age that totally sucked) the whole scenario is still believable... I am really interested in the future development of these two characters (wink, wink, nudge, nudge :-) !!!)

    Till then: Chapeau !!!

    Author's Response:

Well, the way I see it, Severus realizes he has to be the adult in this situation. I think alot of his irritionality with Harry in the past was due to a struggle for control- he was supposed to be the one in authority, yet Harry was always Dumbledore's Golden boy and the pet of McGonagall- no one really saw Harry as quite the monster he did, and he was even more infuriated by that. The staff didn't back him in his opinion, making things less in his control, which led to his rather childish behavior (at times.).

Now, however, Severus is in control of the situation. I think he subconsiously realizes that, and he understands that he really has to be the adult in this situation. Harry is the more vulnerable one at this point- he's been hurt by almost all the adults he's had in his life, at some point. Severus has never had to deal with a child that he could call his own, but nor has he been harmed by said child- I think he would approach the situation with some caution and rationality.

Yes, he does explain to Harry alot of things, but as I believe he said (if memory serves me correctly, I'm not sure, it's been a long time) he owes Harry an explaination.

Mmm.... I've been working on regrouting a bathroom all day and I haven't eaten, so I'm not sure how much sense the above novel makes, but there's my reasoning behind their behavior. Hopefully it's not as ridiculously muddled as I think it might be.

    Thanks for the review!
