200 Unpicked Challenges
Summary: With Dumbledore dead, Snape now has to report to someone else about Voldemort. That someone is Harry Potter. How does Snape get Harry to listen to him? What power does Harry have over Snape?
Summary: Write a story about Harry's life if one of his parents didn't die (favorably, his dad but either would work). Write something that might involve Snape as his uncle or other relative to twist things up.
Summary: Harry becomes seriously, or chronically ill during one of his Hogwarts years (before HBP). Snape is the one to help him in some way, because he has been through it himself. As symptoms continue to reoccur, can they learn to like each other?
Summary: In the Wizarding world, children belong to their fathers. In an effort to save her son, Lily gives him over to his birth father, Severus Snape or somehow he finds out about his son and takes him, before Voldemort attacks. This story should have Neville as the BWL and possibly Dark Harry. Keep Snape as in character as possibly, not all warm and fuzzy.
Summary: AU - Albus decides to sit in on the first Gryffindor and Slytherin Potions class in Harry's first year. How does Snape react? How does he treat Harry while Albus is watching?
Summary: Severus and Draco have made a total withdrawal from the Wizarding world, citing Harry Potter and co's attitudes and death threats as principle causes, despite being proven innocent (Severus at least) by Dumbledore's memoirs. Due to the withdrawal all of Severus's work in potions, etc. had been withdrawn from the Wizarding world as well. That means no specialist healing potions, wolfsbane or whatever you create to fit.

As the main cause of wizard patients now suffering, Harry is dispatched into the Muggle world to get Snape back. Of course, Snape isn't too happy to see him, and neither he, nor Draco, particularly want to give up what they have found in the Muggle world - freedom. Does Harry win out, join the withdrawn, or return empty handed? Severus has to have more or less adopted Draco, so Draco calls himself Draco Snape - or whatever surname Severus gives himself. Severus and Draco should be getting on fine in the Muggle world, make it contemporary (2006/7 not 1998), maybe others have joined Draco and Severus over the years - you decide, and if so, whom.
Summary: Pre-Hogwarts, Dudley gets sick with leukemia, so Vernon and Petunia send him to Saint Jude's. Harry is blamed for Dudley's illness. When someone notices his bruises, they whisk him away for testing, only to discover the Dursleys' abuse. Of course, it's reported, and Harry gets taken away and somehow ends up adopted by Snape.
Summary: Harry find out Snape and Lily are cousins. Snape made an unbreakable vow of protecting Harry as Lily's requirement.
Summary: A biological father or adoption fic that includes this (almost) quote from the tv show 'Shark'.

"Everytime I try to get involved in your life, you push me away. When you have problems, you go to ______. When you get in trouble, you call ______. You only want a father when it's convenient for you. Well, I got new for you. It doesn't work that way. So when you want a father for real... you let me know."
Summary: An answer to this challenge must include the conversation below or some varation to it (tweek it and twist it to your own needs), but other than that, you're free to do as you please.

"He was socially deprived for ten years of his life, a time when it is necessary to have contact with people in order to correctly develop, mentally and emotionally. He doesn't understand the concept of trusting adults or the need to be respectful if there are no negative consequences, so he won't simply take the word of someone. During his entire life before Hogwarts, he was lied to about everything by those who he should have trusted; he won't follow orders of someone he think dislikes him simply because he has every reason to believe they are lying," she said, continuing to take notes.

"And then," Snape said, annoyed, "how am I to get him to listen, if you refuse to let me punish him?"

"Talk with him. Sit him down and explain social rules to him, if you must: table manners, how to speak to elders, what they are, and why they are. Most likely, he won't see them as necessary and he might even claim them to be superficial. His aunt and uncle were polite to everyone outside the house, but once away from the public view, they were nasty, heartless people."

"Right," snapped Severus, even more mortified than he was moments before.

"Perhaps even explain normal wizarding customs. Things that you've taken no notice of because your mother was a witch, but things he never would have thought to ask: Marriage customs, the lives of typical wizarding children, whatever."

Severus didn't answer or look up. After moments of silence, he stood up and left, leaving her alone.
Summary: Snape is a Mad Scientist. What does this mean, and what does he do to Harry Potter?
Summary: SPOILER SPACE FOR DEATHLY HALLOWS!

WARNING! SPOILERS!

The challenge is to take place after HP and the Deathly Hallows. Finish where JKR left off before the epilogue 19 years later. It has to be from Harry's point of view. What happened after the Battle of Hogwarts? Things that need to be included: Snape still lives, Tonks and Lupin still live.
Summary: Harry uses the invisibility cloak while at the Dursleys' and Snape somehow finds out.
Summary: Harry ends up back in the Marauders' era, makes friends with Severus, and James realizes the pranking possibilities with an almost identical twin around.
Summary: What if James had made the ultimate sacrifice and died for Lily and Harry, thus saving them both? Severus tries to warn the Potters but of course he arrives too late. Severus, Lily and Harry turn into a family. No slash!
Summary: Six year old Harry gets thrown into his cupboard after getting into trouble, and he dreads what will happen to him when he is let out. Magic takes him to Dumbledore's office and Dumbledore insists Snape take him in. But all Harry can get into with Snape, it seems, is trouble. This story is all about Harry getting lost and into danger without trying.

Optional: Harry gets thrown into his cupboard for the last time after he is found digging up weeds, which Aunt Petunia claims are flowers.
Summary: Harry is at death's door from starvation and brutal beatings. Who else finds him but Voldemort, or his Death Eaters! But instead of killing Harry, Voldemort nurses him back to health in an attempt to turn him. Will Harry be grateful enough for Voldermort's "kindness" to be fooled?

Options: Injuries do not have to be from the Dursleys; Harry can be any age from 5-17 years old.
Summary: The Slytherins started it but the Gryffindors will finish it...or at least they hope so. A few pranks turns into a full out war when Dumbledore issues a Prank Week. One full week of embarrassing charms, exploding food, and toy ferrets. Add a Potions master with a migraine, one spell that wasn't aimed good and what do you get?
Summary: Harry discovers that he has a new and very terrifying gift after the death of his godfather: during the summer he is locked out during a storm, but seeking shelter from under a tree he is struck by lightening. When he awakes, he discovers that he can see and talk to the dead. People that can't accept their deaths start seeking him out for help. What can Harry do to help them, if anything?

Optional: What if someone Harry knows dies, and Harry is the only one that can see them?
Summary: Severus Snape is a vampire, but nobody knows apart from Dumbledore. When Death Eaters catch and gravely injure Harry, Snape's only option is to turn him into a vampire as well. Will Harry forgive him, and adapt to his new thirst for blood?

Optional: Severus teaches Harry how to hunt.
Summary: During an explosion in potions, Harry is turned into a 6 month old baby. It takes 3 months to brew an antidote, and even longer to get Harry back to normal. Severus Snape is assigned to take care of Harry while he brews the potion.

Optional: What will Harry say when he returns to normal?
Summary: AU: Harry does not find out about Snape's role in the war against Voldemort. Snape is alive and still believed to be a traitor. Many Death Eaters got caught and the ministry decides not to spend any money on their accommodation, but to sell them as slaves. On the first anniversary of the demise of Voldemort Harry receives the Order of the Merlin 1st class and a special gift: Severus Snape...

Options: Will Harry be open minded, find out about Snape's real role during the war and fight for Snape's freedom or will he be ignorant, seek vegenance and treat him accordingly (humiliation, corporal punishment,...)? I know about two rather good already existing Fanfictions with the theme Severus Snape being a slave: One is in German, called "Der Sträfling" by Leliha to be found on rickman-snape.de, where Snape serves several OCs and, after lots of suffering, finally gets his freedom and a true love. The other is "A different sort of war" by Sly Severus to be found on Mugglenet: Snape is found by Hermione in the cellar of a college, bought by her and treated fairly until she can free him, Harry owns Bellatrix Lestrange for 12 years and tortures her. In the end every slave is either freed or sent back to Azkaban. The combination Snape and Harry seems to me very appealing, I hope for interesting dialogues...
Summary: Starts after The Deathly Hallows, before the Epilogue. After Harry has got to know the truth about Severus' motives, he decides to go back in time to save the man's life.

Options: Save the lives of Remus and Tonks as well.
Summary: Through a magical phenomenon of your choosing, Harry and Snape's wands curl around each other's hands and bind them together. Do their old wands still work? Do they work the same way? Where do they eat and sleep? Does Snape still teach and does Harry still go to classes? How do they use the loo without dying of mortification? Keep in mind that when the wand-binding occurs, one of them will have to be holding his wand in his left hand if you want them bound side-by-side. Although bound face-to-face is interesting, too.
Summary: Harry has been sorted into Slytherin and learned that his biological father is Severus Snape and that his mother was in truth a pure blood. Through manipulation on Voldemort's side he is marked as Death Eater and becomes his follower. After years under the regime of Voldemort as his best soldier, he learns suddenly that his father is in truth a spy and what Voldemort truly did to him and his family. After seeing his father die protecting him, he is tortured and left to die. But then he suddenly awakes and finds himself back at the Dursleys, as an child. After a confusing he day he swears to change the future and to kill Voldemort. How does he do it? Can he do it as a dark wizard and trained Death Eater?
Summary: In celebration of the server switch I'd like to make an author challenge, if I may. Forgive me if this isn't how it's done. Computer Savvy Harry Challenge Harry comes to school already knowledgeable about computers. Perhaps he learned in school and spent time in after school computer classes. After all, if they were free and got him out of the house, would the Dursley's complain? Harry gets frustrated with the potions researching and filing issues and decides to introduce Snape to computers. Hermione may help here, if you'd like. Snape sees the value of computers, almost obsessively, and appreciative of Harry's ability to help him. Wouldn't it be cool if the dorms were made computer capable and they IMed each other? Harry Mentors Snape but naturally, Snape will also be there for Harry and they'll get close. Perhaps as father and son, naturally or adopted, during your story or just friends or however you see them. If anyone would like to play with this, points will be given to the house of anyone who finishes chapter one by the time the new server is hosting the site and online. Extra points for those who make it a book length novel!!! :) Kim
Summary: What if the Potters did not leave a vault full of gold to Harry? Penniless orphan Harry is about to start Hogwarts, but how can he do that when he can't even afford to buy a wand, let alone any of the things on the required list? Enter Severus Snape as an anonymous benefactor who has a few requirements in exchange for his generosity.
Summary: Harry has always wanted a family. Ron has a large one, and seems willing to share. But what if Ron discovered that he was adopted and his father was, gasp, Severus Snape! Must be largely Harry-centric despite Ron's central role, perhaps ending with Harry adopted himself.
Summary: Harry was not born as an only child. He had a twin. When Lily and James are forced into hiding, they can only take one son with him. The other, Severus, they leave with Dumbledore. Dumbledore sends him back in time for protection. Story must include: Lily and James, at least in the first chapter, some sort of struggle making the decision which boy to keep. Must also include the reaction to Harry and Severus themselves finding out. Must also describe what happens when each person finds out, e.g. Remus and Sirius, Ron, etc...
Summary:

When the Potters are hiding and Peter is the secret keeper, James Potter pulls off a Maurader style trick trap for Voldemort. When Voldemort comes after Harry, James is able to delay Voldemort enough that Lily gets the chance to flee with baby Harry. James still ends up dead.

Neither spirit-y Voldemort, nor the rest of the wizarding world, has any idea where Lily has gone with baby Harry. Snape knows Lily enough to have an idea of where she might have gone, but it's still a few years before he tracks her down again. By this time, Harry is 4 years old. Snape is with Lily for a while. Snape keeps referring to Harry as "James's brat" and Lily gets mad. "He's my son too! 'Lily's brat', Severus. Say it! Lily's brat!" She makes Severus see Harry as her boy, too. Later Snape comes and goes, always taking precautions to make sure none of the other Death Eaters know where he's gone.

Somehow Voldie finally manages to find Lily and Harry. He shows up and the story goes in a pretty predictable fashion, as it originally did in the book. Voldemort kills Lily because she wouldn't stand aside, and thanks to the blood protection Lily put on Harry the AK rebounds, Harry is alive with the Horcrux scar on his forehead, and Voldie's body is destroyed. Snape gets there in time to pull a crying Harry with a bloody forehead from the ruined house. Harry is 5 years old now.

Harry still goes to his aunt and uncle's place. However Snape comes by and threatens Petunia and Vernon. So Harry either never rooms in the cupboard under the stairs (or just spends a few days there) instead he's in the smallest bedroom. The Dursleys still ignore Harry's birthday, but the worst of the mental abuse and starvation is cut out. Instead they generally ignore him, sending him to his room to avoid dealing with him. They are worried that if they over-chore him or underfeed him, the Grim Spectre of Angry Snape will descend on their happy perfectly normal home. And wouldn't that scare most anyone?

Snape gives Harry presents on his birthday and christmas, always books. But Harry is so happy to have something new, he doesn't care when Dudley teases that "it's just a book." Imagine Dudley boasting about his Christmas toys, when all Harry got was a couple of stupid books. But the books are wizarding books, with wonderful pictures. The only people Harry really interacts with are the teachers at his elementary/grade school and Professor Snape. Harry has been exchanging letters with Snape. Harry gets an 11th day birthday present (another book) from Snape, along with a his Hogwarts letter. Harry hides the letter under his shirt, as he'd been warned by Snape about the letter.

Imagine a Snape who has come to terms with Harry as Lily's son. Or a Harry who trusts Snape. How would this affect canon?

Summary: It's been years since I've read the Chronicles of Narnia. But I had this weird image. Pre-Hogwarts Harry is dragged along to an estate sale by Petunia. (She needs him to carry stuff. Dudley can't carry stuff of course.) Harry wanders around and sees an old wardrobe. He opens it and looks at the items inside. Harry feels a second row of coats behind the first, and gets in, curious as to how deep the wardrobe is.

Of course, Harry ends up in Narnia for several years. How long is your choice. But Harry comes out of the wardrobe before his letter from Hogwarts arrives. And however long he was in Narnia, once he steps out of the wardrobe, is back at his "earthly" age again, much to his disappointment. Harry wanders back to his aunt's house.

I'm looking for a Harry who is a bit more assertive than canon!Harry. And maybe just a bit more studious.

How would Harry's time in Narnia affect canon? Would he ever go back to Narnia?
Summary: At King’s Cross, Harry decided to not go back to fight Lord Voldemort, for he feels he is unprepared. Harry goes back to his 11 year old body, and is then sorted into any house other than Gryffindor (Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin). Try and find a way where Severus Snape mentors this Harry Potter. How does Severus Snape react to this Harry Potter? Does Harry remember his previous life? How does Harry fight off any manipulations from Dumbledore? And how does Harry prepare the ultimate show down between himself and Lord Voldemort? Good Luck! Section: Mentor/AU/Resorting
Summary: Pre-Hogwarts Harry Potter decided that he would rather run away from the Dursleys than stay with them. Severus Snape finds Harry (on the street, or in an orphanage) and comforts him.
Summary: This is an AU crossover with The Labyrinth. Little Dudley wishes for the Jareth Goblin King to take Harry away. When Duddikins tells Petunia what he has done, she's actually relived. Jareth sees the scar on Harry's forehead and realizes that he has "The Boy Who Lived." Jareth decides to raise Harry as his heir. How would this affect canon? Slytherins do love power and are ambitious, so how would Snape respond to seeing Harry, Prince of the Goblins (once Potter?) Have fun!
Summary: In the summer after the OOTP, Harry finds a new friend in the form of a snake that helps him work through his troubles.
Summary: I was reading Malora's story "Never Say Remember" and this challenge came to me :) I loved the brutal quarrels between Harry and Snape in that story, and i like to see more of that.

So the challenge:

Harry and Snape fall together in some strange dimension. There is a replica of Spinner's End and Lily is waiting them in the kitchen. She is 20 years old, the age just before she died, she doesn't remember many of the attack, she remembers Severus as "Sev", her best friend, James as her husband and Harry as her baby.

Both wizards fight violently to gain her trust and love, but Severus knows Lily better. Harry struggles to keep his anger and disappointment away but Lily confusing him with James isn't helping his manners.

Harry sees Snape getting closer to Lily (physically and/or emotionally) and Lily responding positively to Severus. Feeling like an intruder and desperate, Harry starts fighting dirty, allowing Lily to believe that he really is James.

What's Severus going to do? Is he going to help Harry or turn Lily against him? How they're going to survive and get out of that reality?

To Do and To Not Do:

1) This is not a Severus-is-Harry's-real-father challenge. Harry's father is James Potter.

2) Don't forget that initially Snape and Harry hate each other. I expect a little more understanding way much later. Let them fight dirty.

3) Lily loves Severus deeply, but James is her husband and the love of her life. Snape needs to deal with that.

4) Harry needs to deal that Snape is the only key to understand his mother.

5) Harry's age is important: he needs to be closer to his mum's age, I'll say 7th year or out-of-Hogwarts.

I'll love you dearly if you're willing to respond this challenge! Don't hesitate to call my muse-help.

Summary: Lily's parents are still alive so instead of being raised by the Dursleys, Harry is raised by his grandparents.
Summary: Hi to everyone. Like my nick suggests, I’m a big fan of "In Blood Only," in my opinion the best Severitus ever. I’m very grateful to Severitus, who started the challenge (your story is also very awesome).

Recently this challenge and the corresponding "revised version" named Sevitus appear to have lost its dash so I hope you’ll appreciate this small reminder and that new masterworks will arise.

The main points of the challenge are the following:

1) After years the Wizard War II is finally won but at a price. Harry decides to come back in time and try to fix up. This point is very generic. The authors will choose if follow DH’s pattern or not (but Severus-loved-only-Lily is a must).

2) His “old’’ soul blended with the "young" (so one soul) in his one year old body but he does not obtain again his memories of the future until his eleven birthday (the spell he used requires 10 years of "void").

3)But you cannot violate Universal laws and not pay forfeit.

This time his so-called family don’t limit themselves to starving him but they are VERY abusive with him since he’s only an infant. For the nature of the abuse the decision rests entirely on the discretion of the writer. (Personally I strongly dislike sexual abuse, but this is an irrelevant detail).

Such abuses break a charm Lily had settle on him and as a consequence his appearance change. After his “awakening’’he notices this change in his body (thin and short, sleek black hair, porcelain skin, long eyelashes; A carbon copy of the little Snape he saw in the Pensive but also with the incisive eyes and beauty of Lily’s somatic types) and discovers that Snape is his biological father (he would use a potion to conceal both abuse and real appearance).

4) he’s sort in Ravenclaw(for his choice)and depart from his former friends and acquaintances(so no Weasley family, but Hermione could be sorted to Ravenclaw too).

5) He can’t tell anybody that he’s from future.

6) He decides to save Sirius and get rid of Voldemort(or Voldemort's if you prefer) as soon as possible.

An hazardous and deathlike plan is set.

7) A mishap during Christmas holiday causes the conceal to wear of, showing only Snape the truth.

8) OPTIONAL: particular area of expertise (in addition to DADA):
a) Potions
b) Drawing
c) Cure of Magical Creature (with a magical fox as ''Daimon," spiritual-guide)
d) Healing Techniques

So a sheer angst line of plot. Scant place for romance. Powerful, war veteran, dreams-hunted and independent Harry.

You like it? If so…write it! THE DICE IS CAST!

Summary: **DH Spoilers Alert**

At the end of DH, Snape didn't die in the shack and Harry didn't survive his encounter with Voldemort. When Harry willingly gave his own life to destroy the horocrux that resided within himself he called into play very ancient magic. Now, just as Lilly's sacrifice protected Harry, Harry's sacrifice marks every soul in Hogwarts that day. When Voldemort tries to kill Neville for attacking Nagini, the curse once again backfires only this time there are no horocruxes left to sustain him. Snape is found alive and put on trial and executed for being a traitor and that's when things get interesting. Snape has that nifty meeting with Dumbledore instead of Harry and he's given some choices as well. 1) move on to the 'next great adventure' 2) a chance to make things right, a chance to go back to the moment Harry was set down the path that lead to his ultimate destruction. Snape goes back to the moment Dumbledore told the Hogwarts staff that the Boy-Who-Lived was coming to Hogwarts and this time it won't be Hagrid that introduces Harry to the Wizarding World.

Must Haves: Draco and Harry friendship, abusive!Dursleys, Harry learning about Wizarding culture, Snape learns of Harry's Parselmouth ability before going to Hogwarts

Can Haves: Manipulative!Dumbledore, Slytherin!Harry
Summary: I've always thought that, as excited as Harry was to get away from his relatives and with such a thirst to prove himself (as the hat mentioned) that Harry might have been a bit more studious...at least in the beginning before his friendships and adventures truly began.

Keeping that thought in mind, here is the challenge: Desperate to fit in for the first time in his life, Harry makes it a point to learn all he can about the world he's about to enter before he's thrown headlong into this strange new life. While at shopping for his school supplies, since apparently he has plenty of money, Harry gets several additional items.

Potions, from all outward appearances, appears to be the most "normal" of all the subjects he'll be taking so that is the first subject he decides to expand upon. Instead of just the standard student potions equipment and supplies, Harry pays top dollar for a sort of masters kit if you will. (you decide what this might be called, the price, and just what might be included.) He also buys several supplemental books on the theories, ingredients, techniques, and ingredients used in potions making.

Aside from potions, Harry is also eager to learn all he can about Wizarding history (especially after learning the role he and his parents apparently played), law, culture/traditions/customs, and religion. He adds several books on such subjects to his list and pours through the lot of them secretly each night under his covers.

When Snape intentionally tries to humiliate the "new celebrity" during that first class, he is blown away by the boys' knowledge of the subject. When each of the cannon questions are answered accurately and articulately, Snape moves on to harder and harder questions and continues to be amazed. By the end of class Snape comes to the conclusion that, Gryffindor and son of his most hated childhood enemy or not, the boy's potential cannot be overlooked. Thus, and unlikely relationship develops between the Golden Boy of Gryffindor and the Dungeon Dwelling Slytherin Snake.

Must Haves: Mean!Snape turns Mentor!Snape but always Snarky/Sarcastic!Snape, Intelligent/Well-Informed!Harry, Abused!Harry, Unable-to-trust!Harry, Eventual Harry and Draco friendship with future Harry/Draco pairing if the fic continues throughout all seven years.

Cannot Haves: Harry sorted into Slytherin, Too-Nice!Snape
Summary:

When Harry meets with Dumbledore at King's Cross in Deathly Hallows, Dumbledore tells Harry when he goes back, it will be to the moment he first came into existence. Dumbledore tells him it is because too many good people have died and would like to prevent those deaths while allowing Harry some time with people who love him and will let him be a kid. When Harry is reborn in the new time line, much to his surprise/horror/whatever, Severus Snape is his father. Turns out Severus had also been given a "second chance" and ended up marrying Harry's mother Lily and is not a death eater. Can Severus and Harry work together to make a better time line?

Bonus points if you do one or more of the following:

In this new time line, Severus, not wanting to be associated with Death Eaters, told the sorting hat when he was "resorted" anywhere but Slytherin, ended in Gryffindor and at least on good terms with the four Marauders.

Before Harry is re-born, a healer says something is odd to Severus and Lily when Lily goes in for a routine checkup. Something along the lines that their unborn child has three biological parents (Severus, Lily, and James).

The prophecy is different in the new time line.

Summary:

*It's been a long time since Harry Potter defeated Voldemort.Harry & friends are enjoying a peaceful, (in their sheltered view) almost perfect world.

*Remus Lupin is alive, Severus Snape supposedly dead.

* Snape's innocence was never discovered. He has gone down in the annals of history as Dumbledore's murderer and Voldemort's right hand man, second only to Him in evilness and darkness, someone who was feared only less than the Dark Lord himself and who almost crippled the wizarding world - only to be found mysteriously killed in the aftermath of the battle.

*A Severus Snape sighting leads to a frantic search by the MLE under Harry, aided by the Order & the DA

* During the search, they find various memories/people/letters/other evidence which question their view of the history of the first as well as the second war.

*Case reopened, the Wizengamot once again opens a trial, during the course of which, deepest secrets are revealed, buried truths uncovered, hidden evidence brought forward and gradually, the entire truth comes to fore.

*Snape and Lily had been married. Up to the writer whether Harry is his son or not. Interaction between Harry and Snape should be mainly during interrogations/the chase.

Summary: Harry’s mother dies for whatever reason and his father blames him for her death. James is emotionally unstable. Dumbledore offers him the job of DADA instead of Lockhart. Neville is the boy who lived.
Summary: Imagine a Sevitus where Harry had been raised by Remus. I would love to read how that would go, after all most Sevitus have Harry and Severus overcoming their hatred because of Harry's lack of a father and his craving for one. But what if he did have a father all along?

My Challenge is the following:

A story where Severus is Harry's biological father with the following rules:

1- Remus has to have raised Harry from an early age, preferably still a toddler. He may have gone to stay with the Dursleys and Remus have gotten him soon, he might have gone straight to Remus but the important part is the Dursleys damage can not have been deep.

2- Harry has to call Remus dad (that's a big part of the drama the fact that Severus has to overcome two father's, the memory of James and the presence of Remus)

3- Do whatever you want regarding Sirius, he can be free from the start or in Azkaban. As long as you find a way for Remus and not Sirius to have custody of Harry Sirius can be as much a part of Harry's life as you want.

4- Now, why am I so insistent on Remus being the parent? Because of my little catch; Severus is and has always been in love with Remus. His hatred of Sirius and James has to steam from jealousy of Remus. His bitterness towards Harry too. The other catch is, the feeling is returned. Why haven't they ever acted on those feelings? I am sure you can come up with some good reason, after all, want two more messed up people than Remus and Severus?

5- How Severus comes to be Harry's father? Again your choice. But if you go for the "Lily might have been taken by Death Eaters and given to Severus to who "against his will" had to rape her or else she would be at the mercy of someone else" you have to make him do this as a last resort and he must feel guilty because he MUST be a good guy (snarky but good).

6- When Harry and he find out: whenever you want as long as they had a hate-hate relationship before. You can have that happening during Hogwarts, before Hogwarts even after Hogwarts. (For before you might want to make Remus a teacher so Harry and Severus would have interacted)

7- James MUST have been a good father and loved Harry regardless. The same goes for Remus. I want Severus competing with good father figures. If you want Harry to have been a male pregnancy the same allies to Lily, she must have been a good mother and loved Harry.

8- Harry MUST be protective of his adoptive father (using Severus snide remarks about Remus for Harry hating him is a good idea)

9- The only slash couple that is a must is Remus/Severus. You can do whatever you want with the other characters including Harry. You can follow canon or change canon completely. Personally I like a balance.

10- I DO NOT want Harry changing his first and middle name because he finds out he is Snape's son. I personally think that is like changing Harry's personality and that won't happen just because he found out who his real father is. He is still Harry. If you want you may change the last name. I personally like the idea of hyphenating to honor both fathers. (If you want him to have the last name Lupin you may also)

Good Luck!
Summary: Ever see the movie The Good Son? Snape is put in the situation to where he has to choose between the lives of Malfoy and Potter. Will he choose the more evil Malfoy or the innocent Potter? Malfoy has been acting up all year and the only person who has been able to catch him doing these evil things or attempting is Harry. Harry goes to Snape as he knows he's his godson and hopes that he listens. When Harry finds out about an evil plot of Draco's Harry tries to stop him, and now Snape is caught between saving his Godson and the Boy Who Lived!

Who will he choose? I bet if he chooses Harry, Harry will have a lot of guilt!
Summary: Harry's aunt has another baby but decides Harry should look after him. What happens when instead of Hagrid, Snape comes to fetch Harry when he is 11 years old and Harry is looking after a young baby? You decide what happens to the baby and Harry, and what Snape's reaction is.
Summary: When Snape teaches Harry to block his mind with Occlumency, Snape stumbles upon some memories not even Harry could remember. What did Harry block out and why?
Summary: What if Snape didn't die during the war? How would Harry and Snape treat each other after knowing how much they both gave to bring down the common enemy?
Summary: Harry's father had vampire genes that never became dominant, but they were passed down to Harry and nearing Harry's birthday, the vampire in Harry begins to mature. Now, it is common knowledge that most vampires don't need human blood to survive, but a few 'breeds' -- including Harry's -- needs something to survive that is found only in the blood of a human. Unfortunately, the only adult(s) around -- Severus Snape and maybe Remus and/or Sirius -- don't realize it for much too long . . . they've only been giving Harry animal blood.
Summary: 6 Months after the last war, Harry takes Teddy to the Dursleys. How do the Dursleys treat Harry now?
Summary: After Harry looses his godfather he becomes mute and determined to never let anybody get the better of him again. What happens when Harry becomes an animagi dog (or other animal you desire) and refuses to turn into a human except in class to take notes yet still refuses to talk? And of all the people who should take an interest in the Potter dog it is Malfoy, even going as far as giving him a pet name. Harry seeks out Snape because even though he is cruel he is truthful.
Summary: Harry is deaf. how do his teachers react to this startling revelation. Harry was not born deaf but suffering a blow to the head at age 5 rendered him unable to hear.
Summary: For some reason, unbeknownst to anyone (at least to the readers!), Harry and the Dursleys are living in 1972! Harry starts Hogwarts in this time as a third year, but didn't attend Hogwarts during 1970 and 1971 (he was attending Hogwarts for his 1st and 2nd years in 1991 and 1992, like any normal wizard who was born in 1980 would do).

Here are some options you can choose from (but this is not an all conclusive list. Creativity should ensue):

- Harry knows that he's in the wrong time or he doesn't, Harry becomes friends with Snape or his James Potter's friends -- or both, I suppose --, explain a reason they're there, or leave it a mystery, or have Harry remember nothing aside from him living with the Dursley's his entire life.
Summary: Harry is traumatized by the scene in the graveyard and witnessing Cedric's death. Harry seeks out the only honest person he can think of: Snape.
Summary: Albus Dumbledore decides to take action over Severus Snape and Harry's feud. Albus shows Snape Harry's memories of his home life.
Summary: For any reason of your choice, Snape and Harry find they have to (or are ordered to) rescue Grindelwald from the Nurmengard. (Hint: Maybe he's the only one who knows of a power that can destroy Voldemort) Now, they're stuck in the wilderness with a good-natured old man who has (possibly selective) memory loss, and no way of contacting civilization.

Use any plot that comes into your head! This is an idea I have never seen before in the fandom, but would love to. Completely your choice on whatever characters/settings you use apart from the main three!
Summary: What if Snape ran into Harry in Hogwarts during the Battle of Hogwarts, before he answered Voldemort's summons? What would he tell Harry, and, more importantly, how would he convince Harry that he is telling the truth?
Summary: A reluctant father, an unexpected son. Old-fashion parental method and severe discipline. Corporal punishment
Summary:

Harry Potter doesn't want to be a wizard. What if the Durseys treated Harry far much better than in the books - and yet still damaged him a lot?

When Petunia finds the baby at her doorstep, she isn't very happy about it. The first days/weeks aren't very nice for Harry, but soon the situation change - one day, Petunia is very sad about something and the innocent baby approaches her to comfort her (maybe even calling her mum or something nice), something in Petunia snaps - and she finds that she just can't hate him, her only nephew and a sensitive and loving child. After a serious talk with Vernon a decision is made - they will bring Harry up the best they can, but do everything they can so that he won't become a wizard. They are nice to him, and when he responds to this kindness, they even allow him to call them "mum" and "dad", becoming a real family with two sons, Dudley and Harry. The Dursleys spend a lot of time explaining Harry that unnatural things as "magic" are bad; when something strange (magical) happens, they talk with Harry first and punish him later - strictly, but never being cruel, explaining to him about the importance of emotion control. When he is somewhere about seven or eight, Petunia very carefully explains Harry about his parents and the wizards world (and probably a bit about Voldemort too). She tells him that magic killed both his parents and speaks quite highly of Lily and even James - "their biggest fault was that they couldn't say no to the magic; they thought it made things easier and that it was beautiful. I had argued about this with Lily for many times, but she didn't listen. In the end, I was proven right, but would have given everything if she didn't have to die because of this." (or something like that).

Now, Harry truly believes that his relatives are right, and is trying to get rid of his magic. He is looking forward to going to Smeltings with Dudley [who isn't so spoiled as in the books, because he has grown up with his "brother" and wasn't the only child; he doesn't beat up smaller kids, even when sometimes makes fun of them or try to belitle them verbally (we can't have him as a completely different character, after all)]. Harry's second biggest fear is getting the Hogwart's letter, confirming that he is a wizard - and the biggest is disappointing his family with that. Then the letter arrives...

Harry by no means wants to go to Hogwarts, to become either a strange person with no friends, a criminal or a victim of one (the way he was told the magical world works). When the wizards want to show him that magic can be a good thing too, they force him too much and are too enthusiastic to bring him to the school (some Weasleys, Lupin and Order members appear there?). This of course only makes Harry stick with his relatives believes and resent and fear magic even more. But the magical world need the "Boy who lived", a "Savior" (Dumbledore knows Voldemort will return, and what would happen then?). Soon, they are left with the only chance - a former spy and a great strategist, dark and snarky Severus Snape.

Now, it's up to you how far to the past you will go, if you start on the Halloween, a few weeks later at Petunia's turn, at the big "talk" about magic, or a few weeks before the Hogwarts letter. I personally would prefer to see some nice Dursley - Harry family moments to explain his feelings better, but that's up to you.

Bonus points:

1) It would be interesting to see Harry and Dudley act like brothers, they may/may not feel very fond fond the other, but they definitely act like brothers. Can (will) Harry stop Dudley, when he bullies the others (classmates, children from neighborhood) somethimes?

2) Snape might have to go to Muggle world in disguise in order to approach Harry, Harry might even spend some time at Smeltings.

3) What if Harry's suppressing of the magic makes him ill in some way? When he was living calmly with the Dursleys, this issue wasn't so big, but when the wizards (Order? Ministry?) tried to force him to come, his magic wanted to burst many times in order to protect him - but he didn't allowed it to. How will the disease influence Harry's (not) using the magic? How will his family react, if they find that the only way for Harry to recover from something is to use his magic regularly?

4) How will the Dursley-Harry relationship change, if (when) he finally decide to go to Hogwarts? Will Petunia be able to admit aloud, that despite her love for Harry, she had wronged him with her actions - the fear and aversion to magic?

5) Oh, and try not to change the Dursley's characters too much, only make them like Harry and let them try to "help him" get rid of his magic (I thing it's something like alcohol or drugs for them, harmful and ugly, and they want to "protect" their nephew/adopted son from this). I think Vernon will still like Dudley better (after all, he is "big" and "strong" and everything that Vernon Dursley likes), but he won't make big differences between them. (and maybe this can be more of Harry's motivation - make his "dad" to see him as good as Dudley). It might be interesting to play a little bit with Petunia's part relation with Lily (especially before she found out about her being magical and became jealous, though she won't admit that later), and how that affected her relation with Harry.

I would like a lot of Dursleys in that fic, but a lot of Snape later as well.

PS: This is something a bit opposite to the usual "Dursley abuse" story. I quite like them, by the way, but sometimes they just copy each other. Feel free to discover a bit different universe. Good luck :)

Summary: How does Snape react when Dumbledore tells the teachers in the staff room that Harry, Ron and Hermione saved the stone from Voldemort? And how does he react when Mcgonagall owns up to them asking her for help beforehand and she turned them away? Does this change how Snape sees Harry?
Summary: I can't take credit for this challenge. My friend Darkarma came up with this challenge and said it was ok for me to post it here.

Harry makes a bet with Snape that if he can brew a Polyjuice potion on his own within a single month perfectly, that Snape would have to crack down on his house and act like a respectable teacher. If Harry fails he has to resign from competing in the House Quidditch competitions for the rest of his time at Hogwarts. Snape of course will provide the proper supplies.
Summary: Harry is abused, Snape finds out and becomes mentor/father figure type thing. Dumbledore is manipulative, but not evil, and it doesn't matter anyway because he died at the end of the year previous to the year this takes place in [you choose]. Draco never joins the death eaters, he defects and becomes Harry's friend. Theodore Nott is evil toerag, Blaise Zabini and Pansy Parkinson are smashing and also defect and become friends with Harry and crew. Can include pairings if you like, but please not Ron/Blaise, Pansy/Harry, Ron/Harry, Hermione/Harry or Harry/Ginny. Extra cookies if you can fit in the Weasley twins, cos I love them. You can kill off/have a thing with Voldemort, but I'd prefer if it wasn't a big part of the fic. Basically fit as many cliches as possible into a fic lol
Summary: Snape and Harry are on decent terms after the death of Dumbledore (presumably, they were somehow friendly before the incident, and Harry was in on the charade). Snape somehow gets ahold of the Peverell ring. Can he resist the temptation to see Lily? Can Harry stop him? Do any old secrets come to light? (Depending on your depiction of Snape and Harry's relationship, he may or may not already know certain things.) Lily's spirit may or may not make an appearance.
Summary: Listen and be inspired by the song Runaway by Love and Theft (you can find a version on Youtube). Now use some idea from the song to write a story about Harry and Draco running away from their lives (separately), and both somehow ending up with Snape as their mentor or guardian.
This story can be taken one of two directions: Either:

  1. Harry and Draco are underage and still enrolled in Hogwarts, but both are tired of either the abuse they receive at home or (in Draco's case he may decide to run away because he doesn't want to follow his father's destructive path... or abuse). This should happen sometime in the summer and they can either meet on the way to ending up with Snape, or just both end up there somehow.

    OR:

  2. Harry and Draco are both out of Hogwarts and are between 18-24. They need a change in their life (for whatever reason) and end up running off and meeting somewhere and end up settling their differences. Again, somehow they end up with Snape as their mentor, Apprentice Master, or something.
In either option there should be some kind of realization that the other characters are not as bad as previously thought.

Bonus if: it's more than 6 chapters, well written, and the characters stay in character.

Bonus Challenge for option B: One of the guys leaves because he got a girl pregnant and doesn't know if he can deal with it... you choose if it's Harry or Draco, but Snape somehow ends up teaching them to man up and do what's right by the end of the story. The rest is up to you.

    Review of what's required:
  • Must take some idea or theme from the song
  • Must have Harry, Draco, and Snape as the focus of the story
  • Must have some sort of realization and reconciliation between characters
  • Harry and Draco should be running away at about the same time.

Summary: Now that Dobby is free from the Malfoys, he can seek redress for all the wrongs the Malfoys, especially Lucius, did to him. But this would never occur to him, except when Lucius crosses the line and harms Harry. After Dobby, with Snape's help, heals Harry, he decided to exact his own brand of revenge upon Lucius. Should take place right after COS, Snape must be involved in getting Malfoy to Hogwarts, both Snape and Harry know Dobby is angry, but not that he is planning revenge, how they discover it and what happens when they do is up to you. Be creative, give Lucius what he deserves! Bonus if Draco is also involved.
Summary:

Harry is growing up with the Dursleys and nobody is very happy about this. The last straw is when some bad accident happens that could have ended with death of the whole family. Harry's accidental magic somehow saves them, but Vernon is blaming Harry from the incident and he wants to take revenge on him - and starts doing so immediately, trying to "dissolve" the threat Harry poses for his family, force him into submission and hereby "protect" his wife and son from the "dangerous little maniac." Despite her jealousy, Petunia understands that Harry didn't want anything bad to happen and that he saved them all. She dislikes Harry strongly, but doesn't wish him any direct harm, or at least not in front of her eyes. She knows she can't protect Harry from Vernon's rage, so she believes it would be the best if Harry left their house - forever, and as quickly as possible, before Vernon gets too far. She has no way to contact Dumbledore or anyone from the magical world, but then she remembers that there might be one wizard she knew some time ago. She packs Harry the few things he has, gives him some money for train and/or bus tickets and the house address, where Severus Snape lived thirteen of fifteen years ago...

With his aunt's doubtful blessing, his papers, a rucksack, a few pounds and a short letter for Snape, Harry is sent to the north of the country to find himself a new guardian. His aunt also told him never to come back and not to mention his relatives' names to anybody. If this man, the black haired Severus Snape or his father Tobias no longer live there, he should ask someone to help him and go into an orphanage. To the people around Privet Drive and to Vernon, Petunia says that some distant relative of Harry has suddenly appeared and taken him to his home (whether or not Vernon believes that is not important - in his point of view, Harry could be send to Siberia for bear hunting and he wouldn't care).

Harry is 8-10 years old (his letter hasn't arrived yet) and doesn't know anything about magic. His aunt told him that he is "strange" and that this Snape person would be the same as him. Now he has to get to Spinner's end and find him, hoping for a new family, a father; at the same time he is afraid of this mystical dark Snape figure. He has a very vague knowledge of how the man should look (Petunia hasn't seen him for at least 10 years and even then she wasn't interested in him in any way, and she didn't try that hard to describe him to Harry). He has only a small amount of food with him, the rest he should purchase for the money Petunia gave him. He still doesn't know the real value of money very well (after all, he never had any money). Can he manage to find Snape? And if he finds him, how will Snape react?

    Bonus points:
  1. Get Harry to Spinner's End. How can the small child not get lost in the big city and in transport? (let him travel through London. There may be big troubles waiting for him). There may be people asking for his parents or if he needs help, and people he will get into trouble with everywhere, like homeless people etc. What if he got robbed? What does he find fascinating on his trip, how long does it take to him, how would he feel if his train leave a minute before him because he was confused with the platforms? What would he do with the money when he goes to the shop for food? (It's the first time he has any money, can he remain sensible and not spend it all at once?)
  2. Finally there - will Severus be in the house? What time of the year is it? Will Tobias Snape still live there? And if Harry finds the house empty, how would he feel? Will he break in so he could wait for his new father/not have to go to the orphanage? How will Snape (Severus or Tobias) react?
  3. Dumbledore's reaction - will he discover that Harry is missing? Will Snape go looking for Harry?

There are many more things you can play with, depending on the direction of the story, it's length etc. Don't feel too bound with those suggestions, use your own imagination. Have fun.

Summary:

Using their minds' contact, Voldemort has succeeded in trapping Harry in his mind (or they're both in Harry’s? Decide on your own). Harry is strongly depressed (possibly after Sirius’s death) and doesn’t have the will to fight Voldemort. With this state of things, it will take Voldemort only a few days –or even hours - to change Harry into his obeying slave, to destroy his mind completely or to manipulate him into becoming Voldemort’s loyal servant. Severus Snape must somehow persuade Voldemort to let him into their minds too, or get there by Legillimency (or any other way). There, he has to give Harry back the will to fight and live, he must go with him back to some of his memories, both good and bad ones, and help to heal Harry. He discovers the truth about Dursleys, see himself from Harry’s point of view in some potion’s class (or during another occasions) and finds out why Harry‘s friends like him and honour him. He must find a respect for Harry and show him that his friends care about him and that he isn’t quilty of all bad things that ever happened. Then, together, Harry and Snape can fight the battle against Voldemort. PS: Snape must be very careful or Voldemort will discover too soon what his intentions and he could try to kick him out of this

    Bonus points:
  1. You can play with other peoples‘ reactions to this whole matter. Where was Harry when his mind was trapped? At the Dursleys? At Hogwarts? At the Grimauld’s Place, at Weasley’s home or hidden somewhere else after he had escaped from his previous location? What will Dumbledore, Ron, Hermione, Remus, McGonagall or Sirius (if you doesn’t kill him) think about this? How does Harry act during the trapping? Does he eat? Can he be seen as mentally unstable by the Ministry again?
  2. The sharing of one mind requires also sharing of the memories. For every memory of Harry’s life that he is forced to see, he will see also one of Voldemort’s and later Snape’s. Voldemort can be using those memories to manipulate Harry even more, Snape – that’s up to you. If you feel to it, you can even do a bit of Voldemort-psychology, like why he’s a bad guy or if there is some hope for him. OR Voldemort’s memories doesn’t show up at all, but Snape has to share his with Harry for a reason (so Voldemort won’t kick him from the connection, to make Harry listen to him etc.)
  3. Enjoy the mind land. Desribe it as you like it. Invent new laws that stand there.
  4. How will Harry and Snape (and Voldemort) feel and act once the link is broken? Where was Snape during the process, next to Voldemort? What happens?

Summary: Write a story where Voldemort returns to the Shrieking Shack and finds Harry collecting Severus' memories as he dies. What happens next is totally up to you! Extra points if Severus attempts to attack Voldemort while dying or if Severus pulls through somehow and Harry never views his memories.
Summary:

At the age of seventeen, Harry Potter has finally killed Voldemort, finished his education at Hogwarts and begun studying to become an Auror. However, the situation at the Ministry has changed. A new Minister has been elected, one that detests Harry and feels endangered by him, his influence and his fame. He pulls every string he can think of to get Harry out of the Auror program. Finally, he discovers that Harry’s mark at the OWLs from Potions was an E, as well as on his NEWTs, and that it was still recognizably better than how Snape usually marked Harry. Not entirely legally, they put his marks in question, stating that he should have never been accepted to the program in the first place. Despite Harry‘s protests, he is told that he can’t continue his training unless he gains a Potions' Master title as an apprentice under some Potions Master that was authorized by the Ministry. Unfortunately, almost all the Potions' Masters are under the influence of the Ministry and absolutely refuse to accept Harry.

Harry is in the second year of the Auror‘s training. He loves the thought of being an Auror and he also desperately wants to prove himself against the Ministry. Because of that, he decides to take his last chance of becoming an Auror in the UK – to serve a three-years long apprenticeship under Severus Snape. Will Snape accept him, or must Harry pretend to be someone else (and what happens when Snape finds out)? What sort of power holds the Master over his Apprentice?

The story should probably stick to the canon at least to the end of the HBP.

Summary: Where Snape kidnaps Harry and either kills him himself or hands him over to Voldemort.
Summary:

Harry’s friends kidnap him to save him from his relatives and Snape is one of the Order members looking for them, finally finding them in their refuge…

After Sirius’s death and the end of the fifth year, Harry is sent back to the Dursleys'. First they leave him alone because of the Order’s threats, but later when Dudley beats Harry severely and there is no retribution, they decide to show Harry precisely how much they "appreciate" the Dementor incident. They monitor all the letters Harry sends to his friends and the Order doesn’t bother to check on the situation personally. Harry is slowly reaching the end of his powers and finally after some hesitation, put a secret plead for help into his letter. Ron and the twins go to their parents and the rest of the Order and press on them to act, however the only result is that Molly sends Harry some food, which is immediately confiscated by the Dursleys'. After that, Vernon beats Harry even worse than before. When Ron recognizes three drops of blood in the corner of Harry’s next letter that Vernon and Harry had overlooked, he decides to act on his own as the adults clearly won’t help. Therefore, one night Ron, Hermione, possibly the twins, and some others (like Ginny, Neville or Luna) sneak into Privet Drive, take a badly battered Harry into a Muggle car and escape a Muggle way, never intercepted by the Order. The next morning the parents discover that the teens are gone, and Harry as well.

Two days later, when Snape finally finds the mistrusting children hiding in a small cottage far away from Surrey, all desperately trying (and failing) to treat his many injuries and discussing the possibility of contacting the Order or bringing Harry to a Muggle hospital, he has to use all his powers to save Harry’s life. Of course, the day when Harry’s high fever finally seems to lower a bit and he begins to heal, a big article appears in the Prophet that the wards around Privet Drive have fallen and the Dursleys have been killed. The article also points out that Harry and his friends have mysteriously disappeared about the same time. The previous events on the Ministry, when twisted a bit, also don’t help Harry’s case. So now Severus Snape must somehow coexist with the children who forced him to swore an oath not to reveal them to anybody until Harry heals completely because they no longer trust their elders, heal the boy he hates (or hated), start to think of the way to clear Harry and possibly his friend from the accusations of the Dursleys’ murder and keep both Dumbledore and Voldemort far away from him for a time long enough.

Summary: In a dire and extremely dangerous Voldemort-including situation an old medieval spell is used (by Snape, Harry or someone else like Dumbledore) to help Snape and Harry escape. Therefore, the two men suddenly arrive on the board of a little boat in the middle of the ocean. A part of the security spell has caused that no magic is working in and around the boat (this may be a temporary or a permanent state). They don't know where they are, it's up to you if the boat will somehow provide them with food and water or if they have to obtain it themselves. Will Snape throttle Harry or will Harry drown Snape first? Is there a chance that they will somehow miraculously cooperate and survive? Have a lot of fun :)
Summary: After Snape does something particularly nasty to him, Harry decides to take revenge and sends Snape a howler! You get to decide which characters get to witness the howler going off, what Harry says in the howler, and how Snape reacts to Harry's vengeance. Extra points if Harry comes up with some creative new nicknames for the Potion's Master.
Summary: Snape never turned spy, and the Potters survived, but their oldest son disappeared. Fully embracing the Dark, Severus is offered an opportunity that he can't refuse--the ultimate revenge on James Potter and his cronies--raising the stolen Potter heir for Voldemort.
Summary: I've always heard people comparing Harry Potter to Star Wars and coming to the conclusion that Voldemort would logically be Harry's father if the series were to continue following that path. I disagree. Yes, Harry is Luke, unhappily living with his aunt and uncle until he discovers his role as 'chosen one' in the battle of good and evil. Dumbledore is then Obi-Wan, imparting knowledge and wisdom even beyond the grave, but always in the form of riddles. However, Voldemort is the Emperor, pure evil that once took the form of a charming leader. It is Snape who has to be Vader. Dark, but not evil so much as misguided. Though powerful, he's a minion of the Dark Lord and he kills the man who is a mentor to the hero and once mentored himself.

Seriously, it fits.

So, after I've proven my utter geekiness, I now issue this challenge: fit Harry Potter's universe within the realms of the Star Wars plot. It should still be in the HP universe (magic and Hogwarts, not force and galaxies far away) but manipulate relationships and events to mirror the sci-fi classic.
Summary: Snape adopted Harry or is thinking about it, and the two of them have been living together for some times and get along really well. However, Snape is lonely and by chance, starts to date... Rita Skeeter. Will Harry be able to deal with a woman invading his perfect life with his father? Bonus if Rita Skeeter is really in love!
Summary: Harry Potter's relatives, frightened and feeling threatened by the Order of the Phoenix’s warning at King’s Cross, are more than abusive, they become downright cruel. Harry, believing death to be unavoidable, sends a plea to Dumbledore explaining the abuse and when the plea goes unanswered and Harry is left to his own devices, and decides the Wizarding world is not worth saving.

Snape somehow finds out about the plea, and confronts Dumbledore. Dumbledore is unwilling to move Harry from his relatives care for reasons only he knows, which Snape later discovers and they have very little to do with the boy’s own good (Money, greater good, weapon, you decide).

Snape, despite his hatred of Harry’s father, is worried about the boy and enlists the help of Lupin and Tonks to help care for him after explaining about Dumbledore and the plea. They arrive at Privet Drive nearly too late... (Possible during Summer after fifth year)
Summary: Harry, tired and frustrated with the chores, abuse and neglect from the Dursley’s, and Dumbledore’s attempts to control his life and to make him into the perfect weapon by isolating him, decides to makes a deal with the Dursley’s: He will move out, pay them a hefty fee to not mention anything to anyone about him leaving and he’ll never darken their doorway again. They agree... The what, who, how and why's between events is up to you! (Possible during Summer before sixth year)
Summary: Unknown to the Dursley's when Harry Potter was delivered to their home someone switched Dudley Dursley and Harry Potter's appearances and identities to protect The Boy Who Lived. In consequence, the "Freak" who lives under the cupboard is in reality Dudley Dursley, and "Sweetums" is Harry Potter. Upon Harry's 11th birthday, the two are switched back and "Dudley" Potter is sent to Hogwarts where a Severus Snape is happy to correct any problems "Dudley" has.

How would Harry Potter react to being pampered while his cousin is forced to do chores. Would he be spoiled? A bully? Is Harry the one who is overweight now? Will his "parents" accept him once they realize he is not who he has been pretending to be? Or will he be suddenly forced to do all the chores "Harry Potter" was forced to do? What house will he end up in?
Summary: What if the Dursleys were more abusive than canon and Harry reacts badly to it and really DOES end up at St. Brutus's Secure Centre for Incurably Criminal Boys? A few years later it is time for him to go to Hogwarts and everyone realizes just where the savior is, Harry needs a new guardian and Snape is bullied into taking the role. But how will be cope with a Harry who goes out of his way to make trouble? Can he turn him back around whilst ignoring how fond he is becoming of the boy?
Summary: Snape over hears Harry defending him and/or saying he hated his own father.
Summary: Harry decides he needs Occlumency after all, but Snape won't forgive him the worst-memory accident. Harry overhears that Snape needs a certain potions ingredient which is fabulously hard to obtain, and takes up the search. It turns out horribly dangerous, but he still manages, even though the escape was narrow. Takes place probably summer after fifth year, Sirius may or may not be dead.
Summary: Harry (you may choose his age) ends up in detention with Snape and by the end of it both of them have to discover something they didn't know about each other. You can make it angsty or humourous, hopefully there should be a lot of scope there for you to be creative!
Summary: Harry's home life has much to be desired. Start of first year at Hogwarts, Snape realizes something is very wrong with Harry.
Summary: When Umbridge takes over Hogwarts halfway through the year, she decrees that all students, not just first years, need to be resorted every year. This time Harry isn't able to convince the Sorting Hat this year to keep him in Gryffindor. What house does he end up in, and how does this change... everything? Does anyone else switch houses? What is Snape's reaction to all of this? Does he support the idea? Are his motives to help? Or to harm?
Summary: Sirius Black and/or Remus Lupin have raised Harry ever since that night in Godric's Hollow. But now Harry is at Hogwarts and new evidence comes into light proving that Severus Snape is Harry's biological father. After many arguments with Sirius, Severus decides he wants custody of Harry despite their extremely bad teacher-student relationship. So Harry has to choose, but who does he pick?
Summary: Sometimes, changed details can change the world. Chose one, or combine more than one of the following 'what ifs' and write a fic telling how it would change canon events.
  • What if Severus never joined the Death Eaters?
  • What if Sirius wasn't the black sheep of the family and didn't become friends with James/became friends with James and they both became dark?
  • What if Petunia had magic?
  • What if Voldemort didn't find out about the prophecy?
  • What if Lily was in Slytherin?
  • What if Harry was dark?
  • What if Tom Riddle wasn't dark?
The only must is obviously some kind of relationship between Harry and Snape [not slash obviously], but whether it is a good or bad relationship is up to you.
Summary: Harry learns that a highly skilled Occlumens may be able to save Sirius from the Veil. Naturally, Harry has no reason to hope that Snape would agree to do such a thing. Instead, Harry asks to be taught Occlumency, which Snape does agree to do.
Summary: Harry's sorted into Slytherin and befriends Draco in his first year. Role reversal for Draco when Draco and Harry get bullied by Crabbe and Goyle. Crabbe and Goyle are enticed to torture the boys because of some reason from their parents. Draco's never gotten along with them and him befriending the archenemy of their parents doesn't help much either. Harry and Draco think that Snape is a true Death Eater and will never take their side. They wait too long to confide in him. When something bad happens to them Snape reveals he's not as bad as they think!

Would like Malfoy's family to be either non-existent or neutral in the war.
Summary: Malfoy does show up for the midnight duel in Book 1. Instead of merely "shooting sparks" at Harry, he casts dark spells that he learned from his father. Snape finds Harry and somehow sees scars from abuse at home (just because I'm addicted to Dursley angst:)

Other points
-What role does Ron play?
-How is Draco punished-and does Severus do it, or Dumbledore?
-What is done about the Dursley situation?
-What spells did Draco use (are their any strange side effects?)

Be Creative!
Summary: Minerva McGonagall gets addicted to catnip in her animagus form, and Harry assists Snape in brewing a potion to help her quit. Addiction could have an innocent beginning or be the work of Voldemort, or any beginning of your choice.
Summary: Harry and Draco have both been adopted (either formally or in spirit only) by Snape and are living with him. Your choice as to why they're in this situation! Harry falls ill, during which time he realizes Draco and Severus see him as a brother/son instead of the Gryffindor living with them.
Summary: Somehow Harry is cursed with a powerful bad luck curse. It starts to be apparent while at Hogwarts, getting progressively worse until it is clearly a curse and Harry is unable to cope with the effects. Something as simple as walking down the stairs can now be life threatening, and Harry finds himself either injured or in terrible circumstances almost daily.

How can Harry and his teachers deal with a string of bad luck as strong as a curse? Should he have a special protector watching his every move? Should he leave Hogwarts? Is he a risk to his friends? The other students? Teachers? Owls? If it keeps getting worse, how will he survive? This is sure to test Snape's resolve and vow to safeguard Harry Potter. How can they break it?

The Bad luck curse may be a genetic inheritance, or something that Harry was cursed with, or gave himself by accident due to his curiosity. In any case, Snape must be there to help him. This may take place in or out of Hogwarts, any year.

The idea of a Bad luck curse can be used independently of the challenge.
Summary:

Lily Evans happily married James Potter and had a child with him, called Harry Potter. Severus Snape loved Lily Potter dearly. However, Severus Snape was also a Death Eater and a very selfish man.

James Potter was nearly killed (by Voldemort, Death Eaters? Your choice.) Snape could have easily saved him... but he decided not to. Instead, he let him die - and went to comfort his young beautiful widow.

In a year or two, Severus and Lily legally, but secretly married and together with Harry became a family. Lily later found out what happened with James. She was extremely angry with Severus, but didn't want to endanger his position as a spy - she left him, but they never divorced as it would require too much paperwork. Half year later, Voldemort killed her - and Harry became the Boy who lived at the age of four or five.

Severus, who had grown up to love Harry in his own way, claimed him and Harry grew up with a snarky, sneering and moody but loving father. Hovewer, what would happen when Harry discovers what Severus had done?

Notes: Snape IS on the light side. He was a great bastard and he still isn't a very pleasant man, even though he changed for the better with Lily's and later Harry's influence. He hates the fact that Harry resembles James, but loves Harry nonetheless. Harry loves him back.

Have fun!

Summary:

WIth Sirius(3rd year) and his mother back (from coma/time travel /from hiding/simply from the land of dead), Harry's childhood dream of a real family of his own is realized - only it's not quite the one he had always envisioned. His Mum is not exactly Molly Weasley or Petunia Dursley. His godfather, who does not quite get along with his mother, is more of a brother than a father and needs help dealing with the aftermaths of 111-yr long imprisonment ... and well, Snape who his mother is falling in love with?

Lily has her plate full with trying to get Sirius exonerated, trying to forge a relationship with her son, dealing with media and a war brewing on the horizon.

Add to all this, Severus Snape .... long lost friend, confidant, partner in crimes of stealing cookies and hatching plots against all that dared to threaten their monarchy over the realm of their childhood playground and riverside haven - deeply loved, oldest, best friend ever, who she could have depended on with her life ... and who had betrayed her. When she finds herself falling for this man - once again - against the wishes of her family, friends, enemy, diktats of politics - against the universe itself, it would seem .... what does she do?

And then, Snape - as much as he loves her, as much as he is repentant of the course he took in his youth, can he let go of his resentment of her choice for a husband, of her betrayal? Can he really betray those who have stood by him as his friends - the DEs - for better or for worse and accepted him as their own when she rejected him....

Can he and Harry let go of their mutual hatred to forge a family? And he has a role to play in the war that he can already see - a role which makes it impossible for him to indulge in love for a living woman or son, which make his relationship with the Light side's leading stalwarts an inconvenience to the side of Light... specially since Harry is revealed to be a horcrux.

Harry must grow up and so must Snape to work together, mutually towards a common goal. And just when things are looking impossible, along comes Lily to help them along.

A coming of age tale for Harry as he learns the meaning of redemption, forgiveness, responsibility, duty, acceptance and love.

P.S.:

  • NO abuse (not even from Dursleys please)/self-mutilation/suicide themes
  • Dumbledore - please do not paint him the scheming villain - I like him, the way he is.

Summary: Sirius has been locked in Azkaban for years. They say the only reason he's not totally mad was because he was an animagus in Azkaban. But now he's locked in again, this time in his own home, not even allowed to leave because of the Ministry looking for him. Sirius catches a bad case of cabin fever. Coupled with his very immature personality only bad things could happen to Harry, who is staying with Sirius between his fourth and fifth year of Hogwarts. What if Sirius found out he only liked Harry because he reminded him of James? What happens when Sirius realizes Harry only looks like James and acts nothing like him? Being shunned or verbally abused by his only means of intimate adult support Harry starts acting differently. This catches the eye of the potions master. Since the Order has access to Headquarters, Snape has many chances to eavesdrop or overhear a conversation with Sirius. Of course any interaction between Snape and Harry would send Sirius into a jealous rage.
Summary: Write a Severitus Challenge where Severus and Harry get no warnings about being father and son; Harry starts to go through mysterious physical changes with no explanation of why they are occurring. What does the Hogwarts staff assume about this phenomenon? How do they find out his father is Severus?
Summary: Umbridge uses her power to get Harry sent to St. Mungo's for an evaluation. If things go her way, a bribed healer will examine Harry and have him committed to a mental ward to St. Mungo's. Since this would mean disaster for the order, Dumbledore sends the one man who will be able to use his spying and potion skills to save the Boy Who Lived.
Summary: Snape and Lily had been married/had an affair (not extra-marital) while Snape was a Death Eater. Harry is Snape's son but this fact was known only to Lily and James. Voldemort got to know it by Legilimency when he killed Lily. Now Voldemort is back in Harry's 4th year.
Summary:

Warning: Very manipulative and not exactly nice Snape challenge: For his own selfish reasons, Severus Snape pretends to be Harry Potter’s father.

Severus Snape, together with one or two similarly thinking Death Eaters, persuaded Voldemort that "Mudbloods" aren’t complete wastes of space. He pointed out that 'Magic is might, and might is magic' and that a very tiny percentage of the most powerful Muggleborns who passed some special tests could be allowed to become Death Esters and "breed." Lily Evans/Potter was chosen to be one of those potential Death Eaters.

The prophecy didn’t change that. But Severus really loved (or desired?) Lily and wished to ensure her security from both sides, in case she refused Voldemort’s offer. He went to Dumbledore etc., as his own man more than anything else – but his sympathies lied with Voldemort. Lily refused, died, Harry Potter survived, and nothing changed.

Several years later, Dumbledore is getting suspicious of Severus and monitors him very closely when in Hogwarts or in the Order of the Phoenix. Voldemort then decides that maybe Snape is expendable. Severus secretly learns this, and immediately starts to make a scheme to save his own life; Running is no option (see Karkaroff). So being a genius Potions master, no slouch in magical rituals, and James’s very distant relative, he then learns about Harry’s "situation" with his relatives – and finds the perfect solution.

To pretend to be Harry Potter’s father.

Bonus points:

  1. Severus saves Harry from the Dursleys when he is borderline crazy. Good position to drug him with some potions or mind manipulate him.
  2. One of Harry’s friends (Ron?) finds or logically reveals the truth. He is shut up because of his "intolerance."

Not necessarily a very happy story all round.

Summary: In order to celebrate 31st Oct 1981 the Ministry released all slaves for 15 years. Now, in 1996, Snape's mistress, Narcissa Malfoy is dead/in prison, so who has the law to decide about his fate? Head of Black family, heir of Sirius: Harry Potter. Preferably good Harry.
Summary:

After the Ministry incident in fifth year it would be Harry’s luck that Lucius Malfoy would kidnap him, huh? Only, he didn’t count on one Draco Malfoy saving his butt. The problem is, while he may physically be almost sixteen, his mind has regressed. He is still himself, recognizes people and still has his memories (if you wish), but he acts much younger than his age.

HBP and DH non-existent for this prompt!

PEOPLE TO INCLUDE: “daddy” Severus, “big brother” Draco and evil whomever!

Summary: Dumbledore put a spell on Harry to hide the Dursleys' abuse. The spell was like a modified version of "Notice-Me-Not," so everyone just... didn't notice. When the spell fails with Dumbledore's death (or something else), everyone suddenly discovers the abuse. Harry, of course, is distrustful. He can't comprehend why everyone ignored his pain before, and now suddenly cares.
Summary: One late evening, while returning home from a visit to Muggle London via the Underground, Severus comes across an injured and half asleep Harry Potter. When asked about his choice in lodging, Harry retorts with how he is unable to return home, but needed a place to stay far away from both his tormentors and the Magical World.

Unwilling to leave the boy be, Severus reluctantly offers Harry a place to stay the night (and just the night) so long as the boy promises not to flirt with unnecessary danger so easily. On the way, Harry begins to describe his fascination with trains and how he believes his life is like one: unable to leave preordained tracks, without it ending his own destruction.

Severus tries to tell him that because he is young and because everyone had sacrificed so much for him, not -everything- is set in stone... unlike for some other people.
Summary: I am absolutely crazy, but this idea doesn't want to get out from my head since quite a long time... HPxLotR crossover.

Eluréd and Elurín, brothers of Elwinga were abandoned in forest during the Sack of Menegroth. The children were never found, and were presumed dead... But what if at least one of them found a portal to different world and was taken by wizards as their own? Super!Harry, Good!Harry, Good!Snape.
Summary:

The Sorting Hat goes back in time and changes how House sortings are made. Previously, it sorted children by wishes and family inheritance. Now it will sort only by personality traits, and is free from any compulsions placed on it originally. Be creative!

Requirements:
  • The Sorting Hat goes back in time, to anytime (it could even go back to the Founders and tell them that the whole House system thing is a stupid idea).
  • No pairings, or pairings play a very small and almost unnoticed role.
Things I Would Like:
  • Goes back to Harry's time, the Marauders, or shortly before/during Tom Riddle's start
  • Extremely uneven Sortings, so that the teachers are forced to hold mixed classes
  • NO OOC-ness
  • Parseltongue plays a key role (double points for this)
  • Parselmouth!Lily
  • Decently written and semi-original Sorting songs; the Sorting Hat should go with different songs than 'before'
  • Second year, Harry either is the one who is given Tom Riddle's diary or he has it for longer/ knows of its power for longer
  • Not-super-nice Snape
  • Someone other than James is Harry's father (another thing to get creative with; also how it's revealed)
  • Dark!Sirius (regardless of what time)
  • Independent! and/ or Gray!Harry (but not Dark/ Evil)
  • Lily somehow ends up resurrected (points for creativity)

Summary:

Voldemort attacked the Potters when Harry was c. five. Lily and James both survived, but James had been terribly injured - he lost most of his memory, his mind was damaged and he regressed to the state of a five-eight years old child. Lily and Harry are glorified and James ignored by the magical society.

Lily repeatedly refuse to put James to a mental ward at St. Mungo's, however, she can't do everything alone. Some of her friends support her. She hopes that James might recover. Severus is her friend, strongly dislikes James and is one of the few probably capable of finding a cure.

NOTES - things to consider/play with:
  1. Harry knows something happened to his daddy. (Really, he has to.) What does it do to the family?
  2. What caused the change in timelines? Play with fates of Severus, Sirius, Remus, Peter, Dumbledore... You can even have the Weasleys, the Dursleys, the Longbottoms, whoever you like.
  3. Make a simple, realistic story - don't overdo it for forty chapters, but don't make it two either. Don't overdo the drama, but don't forget about it. Don't forget to include some happy moments.
  4. Be extremely careful in your characterization of Lily, Harry, Severus and James and of their relationships. I'm not that great fan of SS/LL, but I can enjoy it when it's well written. However, a story where Lily jumps into Severus's arms the first moment James is gone (disappeared, dead, incapabled) is sick. If you really have to see them together, at least make it believable first.

You should put some work into this. Besides that... good luck!

Summary:

At the end of 1st year, Harry is indicted for his involvement in the events surrounding the Sorcerer's Stone, including the death of Quirinus Quirrel. He is arrested and taken to stand before the fully convened Wizengamut on the following charges;

For being on the 3rd Floor and bypassing the challenges protecting the stone:

  • Breaking & Entering
  • Trespassing
For the death of Quirinus Quirell:
  • Use of magic to commit a crime
  • Use of magic as a murder weapon
  • 2nd Degree Murder (non-premeditated, 'crime of passion')

Somehow, in the course of his trial, the neglect and abuse he's grown up with at the Dursleys is discovered, and given as the source of his 'disassociation' problem leading to Quirrel's death. After he is found guilty of all charges, it is decided that he is too young to be sentenced to Azkaban or given the Dementor's Kiss. It is agreed that he may have a chance of rehabilitation if placed with someone appropriate as punishment until he comes of age.

Thus, custody is given to one Severus Snape, which will allow him to finish his education at Hogwarts under supervision.

Requirements:

  1. Harry must be found guilty.
  2. Punitive Custody must be given to Snape.
  3. Please keep all characters as in-character as possible (it shouldn't be all warm fuzzies to start with).
  4. Also remember that Harry was more submissive and much less confident in himself his 1st year, so don't have him flying into an indignant rage like he's 15 already, 'kay? After all, he hasn't been belittled and ridiculed by Snape for five years; he's only been exposed to him for the 9 months Hogwarts has been in session 1st year.
  5. Cannot be a drabble or fanart; must be a decent-length story, hopefully at least 10,000+ words when completed. (It does NOT have to be completed before posting, but must be updated fairly regularly. Don't leave us hanging for TOO long!)

Summary: When Harry arrives at Hogwarts, he has been conditioned by the Dursleys' treatment to accept bullying and abuse. Malfoy takes advantage of Harry's obvious vulnerability, tormenting and bullying him constantly. Harry accepts Malfoy's cruelty without complaining or going to a teacher. When Snape learns of Draco's behavior and Harry's true nature, he's forced to realize that he may have more in common with James Potter's son than he's comfortable with.
Summary: Albus Dumbledore loves music.
Music brings people together.
He decides to set up a choir at Hogwarts, to ensure that the houses strengthen the union between them.
He then calls the Weird Sisters to teach the students singing.
However, not all students will be chosen to be part of the school choir.
Many are good but 2 second (or third, the choice is yours) year have an extraordinary voice: Harry James Potter and Draco Malfoy.
The members of the Sisters decide to make the choir compete with the other European schools (magical and / or not, the choice is yours) in a competition and to make both boys become the main voices.
The 2 kids will have to put aside their struggle to make the choir work and try to win the competition.
To practice they will have to live practically 24 hours a day together and guess who will be their guardian?
-Harry is not at all happy to enter the contest, as he hates popularity. Draco will be the one to convince him.
-Harry and Draco obviously become very close friends. NO SLASH.
-Severus will discover the physical, verbal and mental abuse that the two children suffered in their childhood.
-A song will be the one that will make Harry and Draco understand the true meaning of FAMILY and it will be the one they will bring into the competition.
-Both boys have the same lines to sing. Song chosen by you.
-The choice is yours whether they will win or finish in second place.
-Harry and Draco will be adopted by Severus.

Sorry for my bad english, but I am Italian. I try to learn english reading fanfictions!
Summary: Harry's Aunt and Uncle die, leaving both himself and his cousin Dudley without any guardians. They experience some sort of temporary living arrangement, such as Muggle or ministry custody, brief foster parents, or living on their own before finally ending up in the custody of Severus Snape. How much of a struggle was it to get both of them and how did he do it? Do they want to go?

Does this experience help Harry and Dudley bond, or do they hate each other even more after Petunia and Vernon's deaths? How does Dudley take being in the magical world?
    Extra points to pick from:
  • Both Dudley and Harry experience an abusive environment together.
  • Someone runs away (Doesn't have to be Harry or Dudley).
  • One of the boys gets in trouble with the Muggle authorities.
  • Dudley stands up for someone being physically bullied.
  • Ron Weasley turns one of the boys in when they do something wrong.
  • Dudley is thought to be crazy when he mentions Magic to Muggles.
  • Dudley tries to do Magic.
  • Harry finds out that he is allergic to something.

Summary: When Lily and James Potter died, a custody battle ensued between Snape and Sirius over one young Harry Potter. Why does Severus want Harry? How could he convince everyone that he is a better father than Sirius? Sirius, obviously, will not be sent to Azkaban the night of the Potters' death.
Summary: Harry's mother is not Lily. Harry is raised with relatives similar to the Dursleys (but they are not the Dursleys). When Harry starts school his past catches up to him. Lily is married to Severus and she thinks they should adopt him. Severus doesn't like the idea and neither does Sirius.
Summary: Severus Snape is Harry's biological father? Lily and the Marauders were with Voldy? Dumbledore is EVIL?

Needs to be included:
  • Harry has been depressed after the death of Cedric
  • Harry finds out that Voldy isn't as evil as he is made out to be
  • Harry finds out that Snape is his father (with Lily or one of the marauders)
  • Harry finds out that they are all loyal to the dark lord
  • To keep him safe from DUMBLES they sent him into hiding with Lily and James (who are dead)
  • The Weasley's are spys for Voldy (only if you can make it believable)
  • No big breakup of the Golden Trio
  • Sirius alive!
Optional Scene: Snape and Harry take polyjuice to go to Diagon Alley
Snape: "Something you are no doubt familiar with"
Harry: Suprised "at least it isn't as grose as the essence of Crabbe from 2nd year"
And last but not least my favorite fics are Harry is rescued from abusive or neglectful Dursleys but it it not required!!

Good luck! and Thanks!
Summary: Remus has become a trusted mentor to Harry during Harry's third year, teaching Harry the Patronus charm and telling him about his parents. Severus Snape is either jealous of the relationship, or angry about it and worried about Harry's safety. Perhaps both. What is he going to do about it? Punish them, or try to lure Harry away? How far will he go?
Summary: Snape has recently become Harry's guardian (Harry must be attending Hogwarts). In whatever manner you'd like, James returns. Harry is thrilled to have his dad back... but what about Snape? Must be good James.
Summary:
Soon after he arrives back at school for fifth or sixth year, Harry has an accident somehow transports him into our world in the current year in Muggle America. And who should have tagged along but his least two favorite people - Snape and Draco? As if that's not enough, it turns out that this world is actually an alternate reality from their own, one in which the Harry Potter story is a series of books that have revolutionized our world and culture.

While trying to find a way home, they learn to each reconcile with each other and come to realize that their perspective on each was skewed. Bonding occurs - fatherly/brotherly or otherwise. Throughout it all, they must try to keep low profiles and survive in a world that can instantly recognize them as story-book characters. For if that little fact leaks out, mass chaos would ensue.

In this world, they are recognized by a young girl/boy around Harry and Draco's age (OC) who ends up befriending them and helping them throughout their journey.

Please try to make reactions of all characters and especially the OC as realistic as possible. (i.e. if you literally ran into your favorite story-book character on the street, what would you really do?)

Ideas:
  • Angst, drama, humor, hurt/comfort
  • Girl is in school (high school or uni)
  • Harry has unresolved issues with Cedric's and Sirius' deaths, which are confronted
  • Draco has unresolved home life issues that are confronted
  • Scenes with loads of humor. Use your imagination - it's a perfect setting. ;)
  • Harry and Draco attend public Muggle school with the girl, and Snape gets a job of some sort - most likely a teaching position (substitute or long-term)
  • They are trapped in this world for quite some time. Long enough to experience some of our major holidays, at least.
  • Harry has nightmares
  • Harry has unresolved Dursley issues which are confronted
  • OC understands the Snape/Harry and Harry/Draco discord and works to try and fix it
  • OC has no problem sharing her opinions with Snape, especially when s/he butts heads with him. This happening somewhat often, and rather loudly too would be awesome! :D

Summary: Harry is fed up with Snape using him as a "practice dummy" in DADA class (6th or 7th year), and finally fights back. A duel ensues. Who will win?
    RULES
  1. No Unforgivables!
  2. Dumbledore knows about the duel and decides to let them "work out their Differences"
  3. No one else can get involved in the duel (but others can suggest hexes)
  4. There has to be a winner

Summary: For whatever reason Snape saves Harry from his Godfather, Sirius Black.

Ideas:
  • Sirius allows Harry to do something dangerous, and Harry doesn't (or wouldn't) make it out alive this time
  • Sirius does something illegal in public while Harry is with him (can be Muggle or Wizarding world)
  • Sirius wants to keep Harry away from Hogwarts for whatever reason
  • Sirius wants to train Harry, and it gets out of hand
  • Sirius has a flashback, and not understanding it, Harry gets in the way
  • Sirius looses control of his emotions, and hurts Harry
  • Giving some bad advice
  • Giving himself away to the Ministry, Umbridge, ect. which gets Harry into trouble he can't get out of
  • Taking Harry to a hideout, only to have Harry become ill, or hurt because of the area
  • Sirius does something immature or accidental, and Harry may pay the consequences i.e.:
    • accidentally locking Harry out of the house
    • loosing track of Harry at a bar when he got drunk
    • allowing Harry to overdose on something for "fun"
    • having Harry around Remus during the full moon, forgetting that Harry isn't an animagus
  • Anything else you can come up with!

Summary: Dudley's Aunt Marge comes for her yearly visit... with a new boyfriend. What does Harry do when he finds out that this boyfriend is no other than his despised Potions Professor? Why would Snape do this? Does he truly like Aunt Marge? how will he treat Harry?
Summary: Post War fic. Voldemort has been defeated. While working for this, Harry got emotionally attached to Snape, as Snape along with Dumbledore mentored Harry and helped him defeat Voldemort.

Severus Snape has always wanted, loved two things in life the most: Lily and power. Now that Lily is avenged he pursues power. He is getting almost as powerful as Voldemort, and in time might even become as powerful as Dumbledore. Power is hard work + magical strength + knowledge + intellect according to me, so Snape is getting there, but right now lacks in knowledge and experience.

Snape becomes the new Dark Lord (perhaps he is just touted as the new Dark Lord by the media/people who have always considered him to be dark, or maybe he is against the way Wizarding world worked and is trying to bring a revolution - no racist basis, please - or maybe he truly HAS become the next Dark Lord).

Harry has to lead the war against him now with help from his friends, and little help from Dumbledore, who has gone into retirement out of disappointment over Severus' choices.
Summary: Harry rebels against the unreasonable constraints that society insists upon putting on him by getting rid of his old clothing and finding the 'new him!'

The new him consists of: fez caps, a new mustache, a penchant for burritos, the kind of black and white striped shirt and red scarf that can only be found in old French films, loin cloths, ect...

Anything goes as long as the new him consists of something other than punked or gothed!Harry, or a sudden desire to wear expensive Wizarding robes all the time and speak with a cultured accent... Harry must rebel in a way that no one quite knows how to deal with, except perhaps for his Potions Professor.
Summary: On that fateful day, Quirrell was in Diagon alley an hour earlier and successfully stole the Philosopher's Stone. The Philosopher's Stone is a panacea, curing all diseases, injuries and aging: when insane, sadistic Voldemort drinks the Elixir of Life he is restored to Tom Riddle, handsome, manipulative, charming, intelligent and thoroughly Machiavellian.

Tom realizes that before his first death he had descended into total insanity and had made a huge number of foolish and dangerous choices, culminating in his decision to kill the Potters. He decides to go into hiding for five years and, behind the scenes, regains the esteem and loyalty of his followers and political allies.

During the spring term of his sixteenth year (age of consent in UK), it is somehow discovered that Harry Potter is homosexual and the deeply conservative Wizarding Population turn their backs on their saviour.

This is the chance for which Voldemort was waiting

NEED TO BE INCLUDED:
  • Severus is Harry’s father.
  • When Severus discovers that he is Harry's father, it is a matter of honour to make amends and gain Harry as a son in heart and law.
  • Pureblood families treasure their children.
  • Voldemort convinces Severus Snape that he did not murder the Potters.
  • Only the purest of Pureblood houses, who maintained the Old Religion aren’t homophobic.
  • Voldemort is severely misguided, rather than sadistic/psychopathic.
  • Listen to 'Devil in Disguise' by Elvis first ;)

Summary: Harry has defeated Voldemort under guidance from Snape and Dumbledore. During that time Snape and Harry got real close (mentor- mentee/ father-son -isque). With Harry's growing power (political as well as magical), he starts to go corrupt (starts becoming the next Dark Lord). Now Snape has to lead the war against Harry.
Summary: Hogwarts is to make a Quidditch team from all of the houses and staff to compete internationally against other Wizarding schools. Harry is naturally the seeker. Is Snape a player, or a coach?
Summary: This is actually another version of "Along Came Lily" :

* Somehow, Lily is back

* Sirius gets exonerated

* Harry is trying to get Sirius and Lily together, very hard.

* Sirius is trying to get together with someone else and Lily and Snape are trying to get together - which Harry is trying to sabotage

* Sort of like, parent trap gone astray

Summary: Latest in the row of DADA teachers is this lovely lady whom Ron develops a crush on. Malfoy and the other Slytherins appear to know her pretty well and act really familiar with her. Ron tries to find out as much as possible about her with help from Harry and Hermione, only to be told by Pansy that the new DA teacher is Snape's longtime girlfriend.

Harry's good at DA and the new teacher likes Harry (he's one of her best students). Eventually War breaks out between Snape and his girlfriend - Points war: she awards Harry as many points as Snape deducts. They come to brink of break up when Harry intervenes - why is it that he messes up everything that he touches when around Snape? He is going to help them. Ron is hoping for the break-up and Hermione is helping Harry prevent it in jealousy over Ron. The rest of the school is having fun.
Summary: Post War Fic. Harry finds out that Snape has a daughter (who no one knew about) when she comes to Hogwarts after the war while Snape lies in coma. Harry finds that she is actually his half sister/twin/younger sister (Snape & Lily's daughter or Snape/OC's daughter). Is she able to bring her family together.
Summary: Snape or Harry gets a pet which takes an instant liking to and therefore bonds to the other as well (understanding that the other is its master's protector/charge). The pet bonds with both of them and could understand what they say (like Hedwig understands Harry) and they could understand what the pet thinks/means/gestures (roughly).
Summary: Professor Flitwick has had enough of Minerva vs. Severus in each and every staff meeting - hogging up all the time for real decisions, and making the meetings longer by droning on and on.

He comes up with a novel solution and gets the Headmaster to agree - get Snape to be Gryffindor Head of House and McGonagall to be Slytherin's! Dumbledore can agree to Flitwick's plan or make it more interesting by reassigning all the Head of Houses - have them each take over each house for a specified period.

May use sorting hat to reassign.
Summary: Despite warnings, the Golden Trio continue to break rules here and there. The Headmaster turns a blind eye and Minerva refuses to believe how badly they break the rules. After Hermione gets cat whiskers and a tail in 2nd year, Snape gets an idea. He lays traps for them - to transfigure them into animals for 2 months the next time they break into his office/stores/break curfew. Soon, he has a transfigured weasel, a cat and a (not sure which animal) with him. But what is this? His plan turning against him when he is forced to care for them for that duration.
Summary: Hogwarts decides to send a contingent to some other school on some trip (say, Dumbledore decides to change venue of Triwizard to protect Harry or simply, a month long school trip). Snape is in the staff committee (choose other teachers), Harry in students' (choose other students).
Summary: As the only half-blood (non-pure-blooded) on staff, Snape is required to fill in for Muggle Studies Class when Charity Burbage falls ill.
Summary: Professor Snape catches Harry in Hogsmead when he isn't supposed to be there. What is Harry up to, and how will Snape rectify the problem? Or will he join him?
Summary: Harry has a great deal placed on his shoulders, being The Boy Who Lived, and knowing that he is to die. Somehow, he learned that pranks are a great way to help him deal with everything and Dumbledore allows it. Are his pranks mean or merely annoying? Eventually Harry decides to distract himself by pranking his most difficult target: Severus Snape. Will he succeed? Will he get caught? What can Snape do in retaliation if Dumbledore allows it to happen in the first place?
Summary: Professor Snape teaches something other than Potions or Defense Against the Dark Arts.

Option 1: When 1st-year Harry arrives at Hogwarts, this has always been Snape's subject of teaching.
Option 2: Harry starts a new year at Hogwarts and it's announced that Snape is now teaching that subject instead of Potions.

Rules:
  • Must be in-character.
  • Keep Snape's skills/experience intact. Whichever subject he's teaching must be something that makes sense for the skills and knowledge he has - such as Herbology. You can adjust them if necessary, but don't give him entirely new skills or remove canon ones to justify which class he teaches. Headcanons and interpretations of his canon skills or potential are allowed.
  • Harry must take the class (such as, if it's an elective like Care of Magical Creatures than Harry should at least be in 3rd year).
  • Minimum of a few chapters. However, this challenge does not need to be the focus of the story itself (it can be - but that's optional) just a prominent aspect. If you want to combine this with other challenges or plots, go for it.
  • Snape is still Head of Slytherin.
  • Harry should attend the class often throughout the story - not just once or twice shown and that's it.

It's up to you if Snape chose to teach this subject and enjoys it, or not. And how Harry performs in this class, based on his own skills and/or Snape's teaching methods - and does he therefore do better/worst in Potions with someone else teaching it? What about Neville? Snape can still brew potions in his spare time and have his own storage cupboard, as well as give Harry Potions advice. There's a lot of potential for different interpretations and character interactions here so have fun!
Summary: Make up a new room at Hogwarts. What is it? Somehow both Harry and Snape need to experience it, and interact.
Summary: A story that ends with Snape, Harry, Draco and Narcissa forming a family. Snape has to be involved with Narcissa.
Summary: Flitwick has had enough when he is left with Temporary Headmaster's position in absence of both Albus and Minerva. His solution: Harry needs to list down 10 things that he likes or respects about Snape and Snape about Harry, preferably in a poem or rhyming format.
Summary:

Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy find letters from their 8-year olds, James Sirius and Lyra Malfoy, respectively, telling them that they had decided to run away from their homes to find the famous but elusive Severus Snape, a war hero and proclaimed curse breaker and Defense Against Dark Magic consultant.

Unfortunately, they have not yet reached him. A search begins, bringing together an explosive and highly volatile team of Harry Potter, Severus Snape and Draco Malfoy. Not to mention, the Weasleys, Daphne and Astoria Greengrasses, Malfoy seniors and a plethora of other who's who of Wizarding world. Don't leave behind the regular wizard on street and reporters.

Can add other Weasley children or whoever you wish in the runaways. The more the merrier

Summary: Harry is Severus and Bellatrix's son. The story must include a close brotherly relationship with Draco, preferably with Draco acting as the older brother. Any brothers and sisters to Harry and Draco are up to you and as to whether Dumbledore is good is up to you.
Summary: Snape has kids. Twins. They are one year older than Harry Potter. Snape doesn't know about having children as they are the result of his violent DE years (months). As there are many children orphaned in those years, some of them (when turning 11) got sent not to Hogwarts but to Durmstrang or Beaubatonx. Snape's kids were sent to Durmstrang, which is the reason why Snape had never seen them, until one of the twins asked Snape to take him as an apprentice. Snape obliges (it'll be your choice if Snape recognizes the teenager as his own now or later.)

The boy or girl (up to you!) befriends Potter and Granger (dating one of them, depending on if it is a boy or girl). Potter's relationship with Snape will be through the Snape's kid.

The young Snape will help to defeat Voldemort.

I would appreciate if you left Ron and Draco out of the story.
Summary: Opening Sentence: He had failed to impress Harry Potter.
Where it goes from there is your choice. Please note that this challenge is originally my friend LilDarkarma's idea so don't give credit to me.
Summary: Albus drops his lemon drops! He suddenly starts hating them. Why?
Summary: Snape keeps having this reoccurring nightmare that includes Harry and others in it. He’s been having this dream ever since he first saw Harry. What is the dream? How, if at all, does it affect Snape in the waking world? And what happens as a result of it? It can be any of the following categories.
Summary: Harry decides to let Snape know how unfair he's been to Harry throughout the years.
Summary: Snape discovers that Harry has been involved in some illegal activity, for example either illegal drugs or potions. How does he find out? What does he do about it? Will he punish or try to help? Both?
Summary: Often when people are sick they regress into a somewhat younger mind set, able to take comfort in blankets and being taken care of. When Harry feels safe enough to do something like this for the first time what is Snape's reaction?
Summary: Harry's 2nd year : Harry believes that he is the only one hearing these voices. But, so does Snape. When Harry is revealed to be a Parseltongue in the dueling club, Albus assigns them both to work together on the voices they both could hear.
Summary: Hogwarts introduces Teachers' day - where, students arrange and co-ordinate fun-activities for and with teachers.
Summary:

The portal between life & death : Apart from Albus Dumbledore, Harry also meets, once again, his mother. Lily wants him to know before the final battle that she had loved Severus Snape and that Harry was his son actually. She also mentions that only Albus, James, Lily and Sirius knew of this.

After the battle, Harry uses the Deathly Hallows to revive an on-the-brink-of-death-Snape but cannot yet make himself tell Snape or anyone that he was Snape's son.

Snape adopts a war-orphan child and the interaction between them makes Harry wonder if he had made the wrong decision.

Anything ahead is open.
Summary: War's over. Snape's a ghost. Snape needs something from someone to move on and Harry, being a Gryffindor, decides to help, much to Snape's irritation and Harry's delight (he can get to know more about his mother).

(Might include others : Hermione wishes to write a book based on Snape's knowledge, Ginny wants Harry to get over his Snape-obsession and start with Ginny-obsession, Draco wishes to get his mentor back, Ron wishes to just get over with this entire situation, Slytherin House wishes for a new ghost - Snape, the teachers all wish to apologise, the Ministry is divided between wishing to award him and condemn him)
Summary:

Harry grew up in a loving, if a little crazy and bachelor-esque home, with James and Sirius after Lily sacrificed her life to protect him. (James was not home when the attack took place).

Before coming to Hogwarts, Harry discovers that he had actually been adopted by James Potter and that James was actually his step-father. When he finally finds that he is Professor Severus Snape's son, he tries to win over his biological father, who, he finds, pretty much hates him. He is also scared of how Sirius and James will react to his plans, though.

Summary: The Malfoys pull in all their influence and use proof of neglect by DUrsleys to adopt Harry, hoping to gain leverage. They are all loving and nice to Harry (even while Draco is fuming), intending to either, manipulate him into following the Dark Lord or else, gain political mileage using his name if the Dark Lord does not return. The only person Dumbledore has, with almost unlimited access to the Malfoy home and children, is Snape. Snape must get over his personal issues, win young Harry over so that he trusts and loves him,use his position to ensure that he stays on the side of Light and train him while he is Malfoy's care.
Summary: Snape's getting married - to the guy who owns Chocolate Frogs'!! How is Hogwarts taking the news? Are some more people ready to come out, inspired by this?
Summary: Hermione finds out that she is Snape's daughter. How does this change the equation between the golden trio and Snape? (Harry is NOT related to Snape). Who was her mother?
Summary: When Harry finally proposes, Ginny tells Harry that she needs to tell him something. The reason she had been depressed and writing in Tom Riddle's diary had not been Harry but that she had been told by her parents that she was not their biological daughter. She had been adopted by them. Her biological father is Severus Snape and the two of them had bonded over the years but his role in the war had made it imperative to hide her away.

Now, she wants Harry to meet her real father as well and ask him for her hand.

Summary: On Dumbledore's orders, Snape teaches Harry how to fly - without a broom.
Summary: What if, it is Snape who Dumbledore sends along with Harry to get the locket horcrux from that cave? How would things go ahead then?
Summary: Snape and Harry hate each other. Snape and his parents hated each other. Snape and Sirius hate each other. Or, do they?

Harry gets to spend the last few weeks of the summer before his 4th year with Sirius, trying to form a proper family, as Sirius had promised. He discovers that Lily and Snape had been best friends, and Snape and Sirius has been in a relationship. What other secrets are waiting uncovered? And how does he cope when he discovers that Sirius and Snape might still have feelings for each other? And of course, Voldemort is getting resurrected and Snape has to play a spy. ( Can be a Sevitus as well)
Summary: Dursleys are forced to attend Guardians-Teacher meeting at Hogwarts. What secrets come out?
Summary: Sixth years are required to arrange a fete at Hogwarts (annual thing) with stalls of games and food to raise money for some cause. This requires the students to form committees and work closely with the teachers.
Summary: Harry gets hurt badly during the first task of the Triwizard Tournament. Can Snape still stand aside and let him go for the 2nd task?
Summary: Got this idea from a article about the hottest toy to return for 2012. Snape has adopted Harry due to abuse that Hermione uncovered. Christmas comes and Dumbledore gives Harry a present that drives Snape crazy, a Furby. How you write this story is totally up to you but have fun.
Summary: The one event that's not covered in History of Magic comes to Hogwarts- the Black Death. Who will die, who will be scared, who will lose everything close to them? How does this affect Muggleborns who know about it?

Requirements:
Accurate portrayal of the Black Death
Hermione involved
Voldemort affected in some way
Snape and Harry interaction
Snape not liking Harry until Harry's infected and Snape has to spend time with him
Fudge getting kicked out

Enjoy and I look forward to seeing your responses.
Summary: What if: (1) Sirius didn't hate Snape? (2) Sirius and Snape were half-brothers - sons of Dumbledore, and Snape never knew this? (3) Lily and James never died, but Lily married Snape?(4) Harry is Snape and Lily's son? (5) The Snapes come to know about Snape's paternity only when Harry was three, from a letter from Eileen Prince? How will Snape react to a new father and brother, and Harry to a new Grandad? How will the Marauders' reactions be?
Summary: Harry, as we all know always has the Gryffindor courage (or stupidity, if you asked Snape) to call Voldemort by name. Why not go as far as cursing with his name then? The challenge is to write any story that has Harry say "Damn it, Tom!", the more people who witness him say this, the better. Don't forget their reactions!
Summary: Lucius/Snape extra-marital (Lucius is married to Narcissa) .... Sevitus (Lily carried Snape & Lucius' son on Snape's request- known only to Snape, Lily and Potter). Lucius is truly a death-eater. Snape is Draco's godfather and Draco does love him.

Sirius is back from Azkaban and from some documents, has the misconception that Harry is Snape/Lily's son. In a fit of anger against Snape (Sirius still accepts Harry), he discloses all this to Harry.

Complicated mess results where Lucius has no idea that Harry is his son with Snape, whom Lucius still loves. Snape is caught in between spying, painful memories of past vs. present (Harry is better off as a Potter, Malfoy is a DE, Draco may be pushed towards darkness even more if he gets to know of all this in bitterness, Narcissa is going to complicate matters even more, Harry wants to know the complete truth and is feeling particularly angry, Sirius does not really wish to give up Harry's custody, there is a war going on, etc.).
Summary: After the Potters' death, Harry is brought up by Snape under a pseudonym. He knows that he is Harry Potter and has been adopted by Snape. Before starting with Hogwarts, he needs to be told about his history - more specifically, his parents' history:

1.Snape was a death eater - and he had a falling out with his mother

2.Harry is biologically Snape and Lily's son( he has grown up believing that he was Potter's son and adopted by Snape later)

3. Snape was the one to leak out the prophecy

Harry's reaction ( bad) and the subsequent story as Voldemort rises again.
Summary: Harry finds some pictures/evidence of Snape's relationship with Lily, confirmed by Petunia. Can this be a starting point for a better relationship between Harry and Snape?
Summary: Vampire! Snape - Harry story : Can be sevitus/mentor
Summary: Write a fic based on the song "Talk Tonight" by Newton Faulkner.
Summary: After the disastrous Occlumancy lesson where Harry views Snape's memories, Harry runs out and back to his dorm. Snape, still furious, lets him go only to become afraid that he hadn't made his point clear enough to Potter. Livid, Snape rushes to the Gryffindor dorms to catch up with Harry. Snape catches Harry right before he is going through the portal and threatens Harry about never telling anyone and to never speak of what he's seen and takes a step too close. Still confused by the memories he'd seen and not thinking, Harry pushes Snape to get away. Unfortunately, the push is hard, and Snape is sent stumbling backwards and begins a long, painful fall down the stone steps. Horrified, Harry rushes down the stairs to the professor, but Snape's unconscious. So Harry rushes Snape to the hospital wing. Despite having a few broken bones and some brusies, it looks like Snape is going to be okay, but when he wakes up, he doesn't remember anything; not his name, not his birthday, nothing. Guilt stricken, Harry decides that he should help out as best as he can considering he's the one that hurt Snape in the first place.

Mood: Overall more of a dark feeling to it, but with some light hearted moments.

Rating: Any.

Deal Breakers: I don't want any real romance in the fic. Maybe some hints, but not much, so no major snog fests.

Bonus: Harry can convince Sirius to actually HELP rather than sneer and laugh about the situation. Put in some snippets of Lily or Lily and James would make a very happy Ivy.

Overall: Just have some fun with the idea. A Snape with a blank slate should prove to be VERY interesting!
Summary:

It's been months since the start of their Occlumency lessons together, yet much to Snape's disgust Harry seems unable to make the slightest bit of progress. Frustrated by what he believes to be sheer laziness on Harry’s part, Snape decides to “attack” Harry’s mind in order to show the boy what would likely happen should he fail to learn the skill.

Yet, when he does, he is surprised to find nothing but the most irrelevant memories in the boy’s mind--a mind seemingly without a single bad memory. Knowing that such a mind does not exist, he decides to probe further…

Maybe the boy is better at shielding his thoughts than the professor ever gave him credit for…

Requirements:

  • Snape must angrily invade Harry’s thoughts (be it in a way to “teach a lesson” or in sheer frustration)
  • Snape must notice the lack of bad memories (it being almost as if the memories were removed, leaving a hole… but not in the same way as with usage of a Pensieve.) although Harry does have them
  • It must be stated or implied that Harry does have his own way (a natural talent or a defense mechanism) to keep the darker memories out of his professor’s grasp (be it intentionally, sub-consciously, or other)
  • Snape must eventually discover the truth of Harry’s home life (up to the author to set the level of violence and punishments)
  • Snape must in someway comment on how Harry really wasn’t as incompetent as he thought (be it to himself or another)

Misc

  • Mentions of detentions with Unbridge
  • Can be before or after OotP (ie: choosing to resume lessons) or even AU (after the series end)

Summary: After Sirius' untimely death, Harry grows weary of Dumbledore's manipulations and vows to himself that he will never work for him again. While spending the summer alone in his room, Voldemort slowly drives him to the brink of insanity with dreams and visions, promising Harry that it will all stop if he becomes a Death Eater. Too stubborn to try and get help, Harry eventually gives in and receives a Dark Mark and a terrible assignment to complete during his next school year...

Severus witnesses the event and is unable to stop it without giving himself away. What happens next is up to you.
Summary: Severus Snape discovers that Harry has been hurt. Severus believes that it was caused by the Durlsey's, but it wasn't. Who hurt Harry and will Harry want to tell his Professor or will he let the Dursley's take the fall for it? What happens if he does, and what happens if he doesn't? What will Snape do?

Ideas of who could have hurt Harry: Weasley's before summer, intentional or not; Hagrid by mistake; Sirius; Remus; Dumbledore; Argus Filch; Death Eaters; Neighborhood bullies (not Dudley); other students on the train; magical letters creating physical injuries; Snape himself; Arabella Fig; the police; creatures; training or fights with other students; Dementors; House Elves; Ministry workers; Aurors; Voldemort through visions; a Muggle Gang... anyone else.

Summary: Based off the story premise for the movie, It's a Boy, Girl Thing. Harry switches bodies with a girl he recently met - she is Ravenclaw, anything else about her is up to the author - and they must find a way to reverse it before anyone finds out. A cursed object must be responsible for the switch and the only thing that can turn them back is for them both to get a little more open minded. It happened because Harry and the girl were both being little snots and talking badly about each other in whatever way the author wants. Snape must suspect Potter of being gay...because of how he acts when the girl is in his body...and so they have to avoid the Potions Master as he tries to figure out what is going on and WHO it is going on with.
Summary: After Voldemort kill Lily and James, Sirius went there to find out if ethier of them was still Alive. Snape went to find out if Lily survied.Ignore there riverly they both look after Harry. They keep it quiet but let Harry have friends like the Weasleys. But some of the old Death Eaters find out inculding Lucius and Peter Pettigrew. What then happens? No Slash.
Summary: A portal from another universe opens up, and a still-living version of James, Lily, and Harry Potter pop out. All is well...until the other Harry turns out to be a jerk and James the instigator. Sirius (and Remus?), of course, becomes quite attached to James and our Harry is feeling left out.

What's worse, is Harry's friends don't like the alternate Harry, and are worried that his opinions (Ron is nothing more than a side-kick, Hermione is an annoying know-it-all only useful as a homework cheat-sheet, Ginny is a prize to be won, etc.) reflect the the original Harry's, causing quite a bit of tension as they start avoiding both.

Seeking refuge, Harry retreats to the Grimmauld place library, which already has an occupant- Professor Snape. Snape, who is recovering from a recent illness and at Dumbledores insistence, is staying at Grimmauld place and has been watching from the sidelines.

At first they simply enjoy mutual silence, but then (whether after multiple visits or later in the same one) Harry is especially frustrated and Snape, without his usual venom, discusses the sitation with Harry, who is feeling robbed of Sirius but selfish for needing him when he's doing 'so much better', and worried that everyone thinks of him like he thinks of the alternate Harry (stuck up and selfish), and feeling like a failure for not being more like James, but not wanting to be.

After this, they build a mutual respect relationship, with Snape standing up for Harry after everyone wants to know why he's been absent so much recently, how he's not 'appreciating the once in a lifetime opportunity', etc.

Harry likewise defends the professor when the others accuse him of stealing Harry as revenge against Sirius and James. The alternate family can have a younger sibling or two, or no. The alternate Harry can be the Boy-Who-Lived in his universe or not. Can be set anytime after GOF, including after OOTP where Sirius survives the ministry.
Summary: Remember Marjorie's bulldog, Ripper, who chased Harry up a tree once? What if the dog had caught Harry? Now imagine how Harry might look when he comes to Hogwarts. How might Snape respond?
Summary: Harry's situation at the Dursley's becomes unbearable. Dumbledore gathers a meeting to decide who should be Harry`s guardian. At least one character offers but he/she/they are discarded.

Finally Dumbeldore proposes two Slytherins for the job. One is Snape the other is Sinistra. Neither of them want the job, but neither do they want the other to have it.

It's decided that Harry should have the last word in the matter. At the end of school year the child MUST DECIDE.

The rest is up to you. Any book or no book at all. They can try to achieve their goal (to be the guardian) alone or in alliance with other characters...
Summary: Severus Snape has made an unbreakable vow to protect Harry. Because of that, he would do ANYTHING to keep him safe. To what extreme lengths does he go?
Summary: Severus is in some sort of parental roll to Harry and it is Harry's first birthday with him. Harry is in need of a cake for his birthday party. Severus needs help from someone like Molly Weasley or Pomfrey. It needs to be wacky and fun!
Summary: Boggarts have infested Hogwarts. They're literally all over the place. So who better to go Boggart hunting than Harry and Snape?

Must use at least two professors (one must be from the list) and two other students (again, one must be from the list). Must reveal Snape's boggart, which can be anything the author so desires. Can be written funny or serious.
Summary:

The challenge is to write a story based on the song "What I've Done" by Linkin Park.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Must take place during the Half-Blood Prince.
  • Must include Snape's POV and Harry's POV.
  • This quote must be somewhere in your story: “One's real life is often the life that one does not lead.” (Oscar Wilde)
  • OPTIONS
  • Try to in incorporate the lyrics into the story.
  • Story can have other character POVs.
  • Flashbacks are encouraged.
  • If you want Lily and James can be in the story.

  • Summary: Dumbledore and Voldemort are one person who actually has Dissociative identity disorder (multiple personalities/people in one person). Neither Dumbledore or Voldemort ever notice it, but Harry and Snape do. Both begin to suspect something and they are forced to work together to solve what's going on.
Summary: Harry goes back for Severus Snape's old Potions book. Why does he want it, and what does he learn from it?

Bonus if Snape is still alive.
Summary: When Umbridge comes to inspect Snape's potions class, the two professors are hit by a potion caused by Harry's cauldron exploding. The end result? Both personalities have been altered to that of their A Very Potter Musical/A Very Potter Sequel counterparts.

*Bonus points if Draco and/or Dumbledore are also hit.
Summary: The visions Harry has from Voldemort has him feeling corrupted, just like Voldemort. Snape finds out about it. Will he convince him otherwise? Or is he really corrupted as he fears? If so, what can Snape do about it?
Summary: James was the only one of the Potter family that Voldemort killed. Voldemort stll tried to AK Harry, still had the spell deflected back at him, Harry still has his scar. Lily goes on to marry Snape. It's up to you if they have any children together. Snape is good to Harry, because if he were the jerk that he is in canon, Lily would never stay married to him. Stick with canon as much as possible. Happy writing!
Summary: When Harry is hit with the killing curse by Voldemort for the second time (in the final battle), something unexpected happens. What is it?

This something, whether immediately, or sometime after the fact, causes Harry to disappear (kidnapped? vanished?) or go into hiding or leave the Wizarding World of his own free will (you decide).

Somehow, a female character(s)--Hermione, Ginny, and/or Luna--drag(s) Snape into the mix of looking for Harry. Why are they trying to find Harry? Why is Snape needed? How does she manage to convince/bribe/coerce him into helping?

Should include guest (or more) appearances from Ginny, Shacklebolt, and McGonnagal.

All characters must be kept IN character.

Summary: Pick one challenge and write at least four different responses to that challenge based on at least four different categories from this site (Apprentice, Brothers, Guardian, Healer, Teacher, Comrades, Father, Enemy, Reverse, ect.). Post the responses as one story. May be a series of one-shots combined.
Summary: Harry is too popular for his own good.
Summary: In another of my favorite book series (The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, if anyone is interested), technology and magic simply do not co-exist very well. In fact, magic has a tendency to foul up technologic devices. While I've seen it briefly in a few fics, I would like to read more where this is addressed. The more responses and variations, the better!

    Summary: Someone breaks their arm.
Summary: Write a story in which you use the line, "When you were a baby." Bonus points if you can work it being spoken in separate incidences to both Harry and Severus.
Summary: In which a set of old radiographs reveal that which was meant to be kept secret...
Summary: After a particularly awful detention with Snape, Harry uses Zonko products to exact his revenge. Must have a "mwahaha" moment included.
Summary: Harry refuses to allow Snape to control their Occlumency lessons any more...must have a "shifting of power" moment between the two. A touch of Dark Harry would not go amiss, but is not required.
