Summary: When Harry was hit by the killing curse, a horcrux was created. In this story, Harry is affected by the piece of Voldemort's soul inside his head in a more noticable way than in the books. I'm not certain how realistic my portrayal of electro-convulsive therapy is, I have never witnessed or experienced such a treatment and only read about it. But I can assure anyone who isn't familiar with psychiatry in general that it isn't a form of torture but something that can, in some very specific cases, be helpful if no other means of treatment work. However, in the middle of the last century ECT was abused in order to keep people quiet and applied excessively, often without anaesthesia - that's the reason why it has such a bad image.
