Summary: Harry Potter brings Severus Snape back from the dead. Why? For what purpose? How? Is Snape grateful or angry? Does he have a hard time coping with it, or does he move on? Does Harry have to take care of him after he comes back, or does Snape even need taking care of? Has Harry brought the man back to pay a debt, because he loves him, to help him with a problem, for some other reason, or just because?

Ideas (not required)

- Some of the story takes place somewhere other than Hogwarts (ie Hogsmeade, Diagonalley, London, Ministry of Magic, or other)
- They are somehow related (you decide if they knew it or not)
- Harry takes care of Snape
- Snape takes care of Harry
- They are somehow tied together because of whatever Harry did to bring Snape back (this may be a foreseen or unforeseen consequence).
- Snape is pissed because he was pulled away from Lily.
- Snape was sent back because they knew he had more work to do.

THE ONLY REQUIREMENT FOR THIS CHALLENGE: There must be NO flashbacks. I don't want to read a chapter from Harry's point of view and then read the same scene from Snape's point of view. I also don't want to see any of this: **FLASHBACK** If there must be a flashback, do it tastefully.

Summary: Forgive me, but I've always wanted to see this crossover or something similar to it.

Write a story in which there are creatures similar to Pokemon (you can make them up as you go if you like, actually that would be better than just throwing Pokemon into the mix).

The children sometimes have these creatures as pets.

The creatures have powers.

The children and staff use these creatures to battle alongside them in duels (especially helpful in battles against bad guys).

The creatures are in general friendly and not mean.

There is probably a class there at Hogwarts that teaches the students how to battle their creatures. There is also probably a club (or several).

There may even be some sort of battle league that's as popular as Quidditch.

Perhaps this fad of acquiring the creatures and using them in battle came back after Grindewald had come to power in Dumbledore's heyday.

Things to think about:

- What are these creatures called?
- What are their powers?
- What are their limitations?
- What are the rules of these duels?
- What are school rules regarding these creatures?
- How many are students allowed to have?
- Do staff have these creatures?
- Where do the creatures sleep? What do they eat?
- How are they kept? In cages? Are they conjured? Are they kept in a device similar to a Poke-Ball?

BONUS: If this is a full length story with good angst. Points taken away if there's Slash.

End.

Summary: Harry is now a teacher at Hogwarts, and when a student comes to Hogwarts (girl or boy) he finds out he has a child from a past relationship that he didn't know about (for whatever reason). Harry is upset and really doesn't want to accept the child (you decide why) and the child ends up getting hurt feelings. Somehow, in this process, it's discovered that Snape (who is still teaching there) is Harry's father (I'm thinking Snape informs him of this because he wants to give guidance and doesn't want Harry to make the same mistakes he did). Now Professor Harry Potter is faced with two hurts, a father who didn't want to take responsibility of him, and now wants to be part of his life, and a child who he isn't sure he wants but who he risks hurting. All the rest of the details are up to you.

Summary: I want to see an abused!Harry story where Harry is untrusting, a little shy, and has been placed by the hat into Slytherin as a first year. Snape doesn't like him but he isn't being exactly horrible to him either. Harry just starts to get comfortable in his first week there when suddenly he's removed from Slytherin and put into Gryffindor, the house he 'should be in' according to Minerva McGonagall, and a host of other worried people in the Ministry. The decision has been made, and Harry has no control over it. Now he feels like he's been singled out and made an example of and feels all the more alone. What's more, the Gryffindors don't want him there and Ron Weasley and the others make no effort to keep that quiet. Snape doesn't like that Potter has been snatched from Slytherin because his authority seems to count for nothing, but he's relieved to have the Potter 'brat' out of his house and out of his hair. Where does this leave poor half starved, injured Harry though? He wants to go back to Slytherin. How will he get there?

Bonus if Harry actually goes to Snape for help with his injuries after he's been taken from Slytherin.

Bonus if it's at least three chapters long.

Bonus if in the end, Ron at least comes to like Harry at least a little (but not too fast) and at least becomes an acquaintance rather than an enemy.

Note: Draco should be Harry's friend in this story. It's required.

Summary: Ok, so I see a lot of Halloween challenges, but I never really see a true horror challenge. So here it is. Respond to any of the following prompts (and this does not have to take place on Halloween to be part of the challenge):

Respond to one of the following:

1) Snape is Harry's dad. Just when Harry is starting to trust and or like him, it turns out that Snape really is evil. Snape kills Ron or someone else Harry cares about, and somehow the blame gets placed on Harry. Be as horrific as you want. This is a horror story. This is not a dream.

2)Harry is evil. Truly evil. **Ideas: Snape must stop him - Harry gets Snape blamed for something horrific like murder or someone's disappearance, etc - or you decide the details.** This is not a dream.

3) Harry wakes up to find out that his worst nightmare is true and he is a death eater and has done evil things with his life. **(Options: Snape is Harry's evil death eater dad - Harry is an adult - Harry has somehow been transported to this alternate reality** Note that this is not a dream, it is really truly happening.

4) Harry is in Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. He is friends with whoever you want (or has no friends at all if you want). Snape is Harry's dad and they get along well. There has been a murder and several disappearances during the school year of staff and students alike. Harry has determined himself to find out who the murderer is. In the end, he finds out that either it's A) Himself or B) Snape. This is not a dream.

5) There is a horrific monster or goul or ghost of some kind terrorizing the students of Hogwarts. Harry has let it loose (you decide if it was on accident or on purpose). It possesses people, and while in their bodies makes them do evil things that they later forget. Harry must stop it. You decide how much of a roll Severus has and what relationship he is to Harry.

6) Albus Dumbledore is really evil and nobody knows it until Harry sees him do something awful. Harry isn't sure who to trust anymore now that his world has been turned on it's head. In the end, he knows he must bring Dumbledore down before he can even attempt to take out Voldemort. He ends up trusting Snape. You decide all the particulars.

NO DRABBLES. One shots should be at least four pages. Bonus if your story is at least 3 or 4 chapters. Remember, these stories do not have to take place on Halloween. In the spirit of Halloween, I consider this a Halloween challenge because of the horror elements provided in the prompts for you. Please do not end any of these stories with Harry 'waking up' and finding out it was all just some nightmare.

Looking forward to seeing what you all write!

Summary: Harry is depressed and standing in a graveyard at night before or during 5th year. Who should spy him but Snape? He notices Harry is wearing nasty ragged shoes. What happens? How long is the story? You decide, it's all up to you. NO SLASH.

Summary: Harry decides he's had enough abuse at home and decides to run away for the summer. Simultaneously some other character we know decides to run away (reasons up to you, but has to do with their family somehow). They end up running into each other and decide to stick together.

Ideas:
- Draco is the other person to run away. He's tired of either his parents not caring about him/ not paying attention to him, or decides to change his family from this point forward by not being involved with Voldemort/Death Eaters... basically his family's involvement ends with him.
- Ron runs away. Maybe he feels like he's not getting enough attention at home, or feels like he can't live up to his older brothers accomplishments or his mom's expectations of him, or maybe he had a falling out with his father.
- Some other student character we know (or don't know that well) is the one who runs away. Are they abused? Did they run for some other reason?
- The two runaways (or just Harry) finds out there is actually a whole group of homeless wizard kids who attend Hogwarts. A bunch of kids lost parents or guardians before Voldemort vanished. Maybe these kids grew up on the street, or ran away from orphanages or foster homes. Maybe Hogwarts knows about these homeless kids (a bunch of whom stick together), and provides them with uniforms, school supplies and books when they get back to Hogwarts each year. Harry maybe becomes one of this group. Note: just like in real life with real life governments, maybe the Ministry doesn't have the resources to deal with the issue, or give homes to the kids for whatever reason. The Ministry knows about the issue, but isn't dealing with it or can't, or maybe only provides some resources like vouchers for food/clothes.

Snape's involvement is up to you. Does he find them at some point over the summer? Does he decide to help them? Does he bring them food or something? Does he tell on them? Try to convince them to go home or to Hogwarts? Are the two runaways content to stay where they are over the summer or do they want shelter with Snape or at Hogwarts? All up to you.

Requirements: No slash, no drabbles. Must be at least a one-shot.

Summary: Harry is under a lot of stress and pressure and he begins to crack. The prophecy is hanging over his head, and he knows he has to train to face Voldemort down sooner or later. Ron and Harry have recently been fighting. Harry is dating Ginny and he's finding their relationship to be growing a little demanding when he has so much else to do and worry about. Homework is piling up. Harry is losing sleep. His nerves are frayed and he's at the breaking point. The staff (or Snape) figures out that Harry is under too much strain and pressure, and for Harry's own good decide to temporarily switch Harry's house (to Slytherin much to Snape's displeasure). Once Harry's in Slytherin and the demands on him go back down, he finds that he quite likes being away from all of his responsibilities. What do his friends do? What does Snape think? What relationship do they develop?

I would like to see Harry and Ginny continue dating after the house switch. I would also like to see Harry not really making friends in Slytherin, just him being content to be ignored and having no demands on him for a while. The rest is really up to you. BONUS if it is at least a few decent sized chapters or a very long one shot. I dislike drabbles.

Other ideas: - Harry is put into Slytherin because the hat almost put him there before, so they know it would be a good fit. - Snape has to 'keep an eye' on Harry to see how his stress levels are and if he's still cracking under the pressure. This does not mean counseling sessions. I usually dislike the stories where Snape is an actual counselor instead of parent or mentor or listener.

Summary: I've seen a lot of stories where Harry is hurt or sick and to save his life Snape must become his father. For this challenge, Snape is the one who is sick or injured or in trouble, and Harry gives his permission to Dumbledore (though reluctantly) for Snape to become his father so that they can save his life (take magic or blood or whatever from Harry to give it to Snape... make it up). Snape was unconscious or not there when the decision was made, and after his life is saved he finds out it's due to Harry and that Harry is now his son. Snape - is - LIVID! What will happen? That's up to you, this is just the beginning premise. Have fun with it.

I would prefer that this is with Harry still at Hogwarts, probably between 2nd-5th year... there has to already be a history of animosity between them but Harry still must be young enough to need a parent or feel like he would like one.

Summary: Somehow Harry and Ron both end up in Ravenclaw. You decide how that happens and what the implications of that are. One track you might take is that Harry and Ron have a pre-established friendship (for however long) and even though Ron wants to be in Gryffindor, when Harry gets sorted into Ravenclaw (you decide why), Ron begs the sorting hat to sort him there too. Or maybe Ron wants to prove that he's not stupid like his brothers say he is so he asks for Ravenclaw. Now Ron has a problem... his family thinks he's extra smart and studious, the twins think he's a traitor for not being in Gryffindor, and Ron feels like he's made a huge mistake but doesn't know what to do about it.

What about Harry? Why was he sorted into Ravenclaw? Harry knows Ron shouldn't be there, but he's glad that his friend is there because Harry is lonely and feels out of place wherever he goes because of the Dursleys and how they've raised him.

This must be a non-slash story.

Would somehow like to see Draco involved in this story. Did he somehow do something foolish during the sorting also and get into the wrong house? Would be fun to see him in Gryffindor or Ravenclaw and feeling out of place, but if he's still in Slytherin that's cool too.

Ok now for Snape's involvement. That's up to you to decide. Maybe one of the boys goes to him about being placed in the wrong house. Maybe he sees that Harry feels out of place or sees that something seems to be wrong with several of the first years including Harry, Ron and Draco? Or maybe Snape is a total arse in this story. It's all really up to you.
