About me:

I've been reading fanfiction for years, and I've written a few pieces in other fandoms, as well as some drabbles and ficlets for the HP fandom, but mostly I have been a reader. For the Boy Who Has Everything is my first attempt at a full-length fic. Three Times Trouble is a response to my sudden inexplicable enjoyment of kidfic.

My favorite characters are Remus Lupin, Severus Snape, Sirius Black, Neville Longbottom, and the elder two Weasley children, Bill and Charlie (whom we just don't see enough of, unfortunately). Many of the younger characters became more interesting to me as they grew older.

I like to theorize about how things work, especially things that aren't well explained in the books. Such as:

- How and why does a Patronus take the shape it does, when a wizard first learns the spell? How would a Patronus change its shape (e.g.; Tonks' and Snape's)? Does it take the shape of the other person's Patronus, or just a shape that the first person associates with them? If the other person is still alive, does that mean that now there are two identical Patronuses?

- Since some wands are specifically good for certain types of magic, does that mean wands choose their owner based on an inborn talent or potential?

- If people have minds, souls, and magic, how distinct are the three things? A piece of soul seems to possess both a mind and magic, although it isn't clear how much of each comes from the actual soul fragment and how much is purposely spelled into the object that contains the soul fragment. The horcruxes that reacted poorly to being messed with (e.g.: diary, locket) were most likely spelled to do that. However, the horcrux in Harry managed to impart magical skills, suggesting there may be some magic within the soul itself.

- What makes some magic stick around for centuries and not lose power, while other magic wears off over time, or ends abruptly when the spell-caster dies?

I never read this on FF.net, but if there's more, I'll definitely be looking it up when I have more time to devote to reading.

The first few paragraphs really drew me in. I love the set-up. The words you chose made it so easy to visualize, and you did a nice job of letting the reader draw some conclusions.

Some great lines in here (the mention of Fluffy made me crack up).

The whole thing with the Dursleys was hilarious. I liked how you changed things, and yet kept a lot the same, like Harry grabbing his stuff and getting out of there...

... only to run into Snape.

    Perfectly evil cliff-hanger. :-D

    Author's Response:

Yeah there's more - like another 9 chapters or something (hopefully soon to be 10 chapters) but yeah you don't need to go running off to find it on FF.net - it'll all be up here eventually. But probably in like weekly blocks because I'm lazy and have limited internet action XD

Thanks for the review - I wanted to make sure that a lot of the story was sort of the same yet different because I think it's easier when there is a little bit different with each chapter from the original book, because then it all adds up to be completely different but it's sort of believable. I hope that made sense (I have a bad habit of sprouting out total crap) but yeah C:

    "squishy or bouncy" -- ROFLMAO!

A fun read... I can't wait to see where it goes. Incredible how Harry's capable of writing such a calm note instead of screaming like a banshee all the way to Hogwarts and kicking down Dumbledore's door. :-D

Harry has finally had enough of his relatives' abuse and has locked himself in the chamber of secrets. To keep up appearances, Snape has been sent to take Harry's place for the summer.

LOL... for once poor Snape *doesn't* get stuck with Harry?

    Great chapter.

Author's Response: nope.  i did that because Snape is needed else where. His spying skills were still needed!

There are many forms of vengeance. It can be just as satisfying to return cruelty with kindness as to return cruelty with equal cruelty...and sometimes it can be more dangerous and more insidious to do so. Faced with an eleven-year-old Harry Potter, Severus Snape has a decision to make: How does he like his vengeance?

Okay, you've hooked me! I can't wait for more!

And... wow, Snape smiling warmly must be a thing of horror. :-)

When Harry wakes one morning, he discovers a badly injured Snape in his living room, and tries to hide him. But Petunia discovers them and reveals a secret she has kept for thirteen years--one that will change the course of Harry's life forever, and Severus's as well. AU, pre-GOF.

From the description, I thought this was going to be a reply to the Battered Snape for Breakfast challenge.

Excellent start! I don't have time this morning to read the next chapter, but you've definitely hooked me.

Poor Snape... but hey, he's out of Voldie's circle now, and that's a good thing.

Harry has rotten luck. What's he going to do now?!

Author's Response: I never knew about that challenge, I was just working off of what DaughterofAres gave me.  And Harry really does have the worst luck, but it might chnage.

Awesome revenge! They got exactly what they deserved... although not nearly enough of it.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN SNAPE IS YOUR FATHER? MERLIN'S BLOODY ARSE!"

    Best. Line. EVER. :-D

I think your Harry is just right. I mean, this is soon after he practically throws himself at Sirius, whom he'd just met and knew nothing about, so it makes sense that he'd be accepting when someone he disliked turned out to be his father. Both, after all, offered to take him from the Dursleys. I think that's the way to Harry's heart. LOL

This is turning into a really great story.

    Author's Response:

When I wrote that line, I could just picture Ron screaming that as he was reading Harry's letter. LOL.

I'm glad you like my portrayal of Harry here, I was a bit worried that maybe their relationship was progressing too fast, but it's not like he's jumping into Snapes arms and crying "Oh Daddy! I finally have a father! It's what I always dreamed of!" kind of thing.  Harry is still unsure of Severus and hesitant at this stage and Sev is still trying to come to grips with the fact that now he's the parent of . . .Merlin help him . . .Harry Potter! Arggh!  But he's trying and somehow they will eventually work everything out, because I am a firm believer in happy endings.  Always.

Snape is left dying in the Shrieking Shack after giving Harry his memories convinced that Harry is going to his death. When Snape dies, he is given a chance to send his soul backwards in time seven years to give Harry a chance for a better (and hopefully longer) life. Will switch back and fourth between being Snape centered and Harry centered.

Very creative, with a lot of possibilities open. It's a great start, and could turn out to be an awesome story.

It really pulled me in as a reader and makes me want to see what happens next. Especially with poor unsuspecting Harry who is about to get a whole lot more Snape in his life. LOL

    Constructive criticism:

So far everyone seems to be mostly in character, although Snape's reaction to being dumped into the past with a mission to change the future seems... nonexistent. We really don't get any sense of how he feels. Part of that is because you are using too much passive voice instead of active, which means you are telling us and not showing us what happens. Show us how Snape feels, don't just tell us what he's doing. It will make the story flow much better and make Snape's actions more meaningful.

At least in this chapter, there is not a lot of conflict. Again, I think this has to do with not knowing how Snape feels... he seems to just go along with everything, with no thoughts or feelings of his own. He got dumped into the past and he is just going on with his life like absolutely nothing happened. I think some emotional conflict would help... there seems to be no REAL conflict -- Dumbledore doesn't refuse to let Snape get Harry, for example -- but you can still inject some conflict within Snape himself.

As far as the presentation of the story... I think you need to split up some of those large paragraphs. Long paragraphs tend to be dreary and readers start skipping ahead, not actually reading everything.

Lastly, this DESPERATELY needs a beta, or at least you need to look over it and pay very careful attention to homophones, tense, contractions, omitted words, and run-on sentences.

I think you have a great start here, so hopefully you can find a beta and... continue! :-)

What a scary version of the future, in true AU fashion. It's so strange how normal this world seems... it just shows that life goes on in spite of bad circumstances, and people get used to how things are.

Author's Response: Thank you, I'm glad you like it!  I wanted to give hints of the world around a primarily family based story.  The rest of the stories I'm writing in this universe (except "Spectacles", which is background) are about what happens in the family dynamic when this rather twisted world's equalibrium is disturbed.

Dudley and Harry flee Vernon - to Severus. A different Tom Riddle, Petunia is good. Lucius and Draco are helpful. Albus is a bit misguided. The twins are only a year older than Harry, so I can make them non-Gryffindor.

Fascinating plot! This is really very good so far. I devoured the five chapters I had time to read tonight, and wish I had time to continue.

Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed it!

I never liked Rita Skeeter. My muses surprised me completely, when they brought me a fluffy bunny story, where Skeeter is a hero (kind of). Oneshot. Rated for some swearing. Post OotP.

A very satisfying conclusion. I loved the idea of Rita as an unlikely hero!
