'Discipline' means 'to teach' but Professor Severus Snape's detentions generally only teach his students not to push their luck. One December evening, however, Harry Potter learns something rather unexpected about his least-favourite teacher, something that will set in motion a chain of events which will heal rifts, change opinions and make this Yule a year to remember.
Set in Harry's third year, 'Christmas Present' is the second installment of a three-part series. All couples are canon and romance is only implied ;) Takes Place: 4th summer - Snape flavour: None Tags: None Categories: Snape Equal Status to Harry > Foes Snape and Harry, Teacher Snape > Trusted Mentor Snape

I cringed when imagining writing that horribly long paragraph 500 times. My hand hurts just thinking about it. And the image of Severus falling asleep while icing the biscuits was touching. Of course, Harry would automatically make the assumption that Snape was up to no good. This was a wonderful story and I'm looking forward to the third installment. Happy Christmas to you! Author's Response: Thanks for the review. I'm really glad my portrayal of GG has gone down so well; while most people are okay with good!Lucius, Grindelwald is a bit more contraversial but, well, J.K.R. hinted heavily that AD loved him throughout his life so that rather indicated that GG was a somewhat different warlord to LV lol! I imagine that Christmas is a rather difficult time for Severus, given his memories of Lily, and, as he needed to keep the brats out of his hair, 500 lines doesn't seem too out of character lol! Happy Christmas The second time Voldemort used the killing curse against Harry—and failed—it once again had unintended consequences. What are they and how will Harry survive? And how does a certain potions master come into the mix? ***Pictures added!***

Harry understands the meaning of loss. What he doesn't know, is that he also deserves to find.

The interaction between Harry and Severus was perfect. And I loved the way Harry handled the DA session and Smith and Finch-Fletchley. The bit where Severus thought about Neville's extraordinary sense of smell and considered what kind of brewer Neville might have been was very good. It got my imagination going and I want to write up an AU fic where Neville and Snape sort things out between themselves. I am intrigued by what Harry's fear is if it is something that a Boggart can't show. You did a great job with this. Bravi, bravi, bravissimi! Author's Response: Thanks :) Oh, please write that bit about Neville and Severus. I'd read it immediately! Twenty years after the War, Harry is a solid family man who's taken in one more. In helping this damaged little boy, he finds himself thinking about his old professor, quite a bit.

You have an excellent handle on characterization and I truly love the way you bring us into the chapters in media res and still manage to make sure that the reader knows everything they need to know to carry on with the tale. Bravo! Author's Response: Thank you. I'm very impatient--I don't like to spend a lot of time in setting up scenes. I love these characters.

Sequel to Days We Learn From. Severus, Harry and Draco are starting to establish their new normal, when day to day life is changed drastically once more thanks to a slight mix up involving a few potion samples. All of this leaves Severus dealing with a new troublemaker, the one he used to be! De-aged to six years old, he's a handful and half to deal with, and his adopted sons, Harry and Draco, will never let him forget it!

Author's Response: Thank you, I was worried about what people would think! Harry Potter and Mark Evans hung onto each other for dear life in Little Whinging. For three years Harry worried about leaving Mark behind when he left for Hogwarts, and when Mark discovers he’s a wizard, and that Harry’s one too, he finally gets the chance to repay Harry for all the kindness showed him.

And your story graphic is excellent! Author's Response: Thanks! There is a strange creature loose in the castle. What could it be? Where did it come from? Snape, one of the few people seemingly immune to the creature, must find out before it kills his newly adopted son.

This is a great idea and I look forward to seeing what you do with it. Author's Response: You're right. The 'Come' was unintentional but I'll give you an extra 100 points for noticing! :D And Yes, the intentional one was the McCoyism. 100 points! :D Thanks!
In order of appearance, the aliens are: Tribbles from "The Trouble with Tribbles", a Horta egg from "Devil in the Dark" (one of my most favourite episodes), the Macroviruses from "STV: Macrocosm", the gold liquid is Latinum from DS9: Who Mourns for Morn", the "gila monsters" are Janeway and Paris' offspring from the episode "STV: Threshold", the last was of course, the Ceti Alphan eels from "STII: The Wrath of Kahn". The creature that attacks Harry is a Denavan Mind Parasite from the original series episode "Operation Annihilate". Poor Harry! And poor Severus! This is going to be really hard to sort out. OF course, there is the question of what kind of potions Severus could develop from these ingredients (assuming that the room can be found again!) GReat job. Author's Response: *stands up and applauds* Excellent!!! 700 points! 500 for naming all the creatures and an extra two hundred for naming all the episodes!! Amazing!! As for the room...*insert evil grin*...I have plans for Snape and that room. Thank you!! :D |
