About me:

I read and write Harry Potter fanfic.

My current fic is being posted at http://imuptonogood.livejournal.com, and is a Post DH story following Harry, Draco, the Weasleys, and a few others, after DH (ignoring the epilogue).  It is canon compliant, but I managed to rescue Snape.

I am an omnivorous reader when it comes to Harry Potter genres, but I prefer those where Harry and Snape can reconcile... eventually.

Over forty years after the Final Battle, Harry Potter's life isn't nearly as charming as everyone thought it would be. Something went wrong, gravely wrong... Will he ever be able to let it go? Oh! My! This is fabulous!

I love how the story slowly unfolds, how we are getting to know characters that were briefly mentioned in canon.

    Good Job!

    Adding to my favorites.

    Author's Response:

Thanks for reading!  I'm glad you enjoyed it and appreciate my story's flow.  I always have to double check everything to make sure I haven't given too much away before it's time.  Stay tuned for more!

Harry arrives at Hogwarts without any magic. Or does he? Severus is firmly in Voldemort’s camp. Or is he? Tangled loyalties and broken magics combine to make Harry’s first year more eventful than anyone anticipated. Entry in the 2009 Challenge Fest. This is an amazing, completely unique story. The closest I can come for some of the flavor is altered destinies, by dobby elflord, if only for the joy of family.

Your story is filled with gentleness and love and goodwill. Each of the characters rings true, but with a wellspring of love that mitigates each one's more irritating canon elements.

    GOOD JOB.

    Thank you for writing it.

This is a lovely story. I've gone through three tissues already. Such angst. Your Severus and Harry are so in character!

You have some issues with spelling and grammar... the spell for Legilimency is Legilimens (you've had a couple of different spellings).

One of the last lines: "Severus think he had actually listened to him." (think should be thought)
In other chapters: pijamas should be pyjamas (assuming british spelling)

in: "when they found out he had ran away from him" (had ran should be had run, which is the pluperfect.)

There were a few others that I noticed, but the story itself is so fabulous, that I am well and truly hooked. More!

    (adding to favorites)

    Author's Response:

Ah yes the angst-I'm afraid there's lots more of that headed this way!

As for the spelling and grammar *blushes* I will amend all those errors as soon as I get a sec. I tend to type like a mad thing and give it a quick (and obviously not particularly thorough) read through. Opps. Cheers for pointing them out...

Lots more of this story to come, next chapter is half written but I am starting a new job and flat seaching at the mo so I've been a bit busy lol :)

    Thanks for reviewing.

Title: Chapter 11: Falling by the wayside 07 Aug 2009

oh, my. I cried all through this, from the burning of the broom onward. Ow. Poor Harry. And Snape is so practical-minded, that it doesn't occur to him that apologizing for his unthinking action might actually be a balm for Harry.

The footstep "dreams" make me nervous.

I really want to read what happens next.

    Author's Response:

Thanks so much for your review.  I'm glad it seemed sad cos I thought to myself when I was writing it what would be the most hurtful thing Snape might do at this stage in the story... pretty harsh stuff. He will apologise - but not for a while yet, I have that bit planned out! The latest chapter veers away from the 'dreams' & Harry's grief for Sirius but these will be picked up again shortly.

wow again. way to ratchet up the tension.

I feel like I've been running, and it isn't that long of a chapter.

    Amazing writing.

    Author's Response:

He he, I'm glad you liked it, I was a bit worried it would be a bit of a messy chapter with everyone floo'ing in and out all over the place... but it was supposed to be a bit chaotic and hectic at the end to contrast with Snape being so calm earlier...

    Thanks so much for reviewing:)

    I am intrigued... Reading on...

    Two small quibbles:

"Professor Snape is a professional, Harry. He won't let his feelings towards you effect the procedure,"

    ("Effect" should be "affect".)

Also, this sentence is grammatically confusing:

"Harry just didn't like needles they gave him the creeps." I suspect it is either: "Harry just didn't like needles. They gave him the creeps."
or: Harry didn't just 'not like' needles; they gave him the creeps."

Those were two spots that I stumbled over when reading... Otherwise, the story is drawing me in!

    Author's Response:

Thanks. I'm glad to hear the story is drawing you in and welcome to my little corner of P&S.

Effect vs. affect. Ugh. That's like the one I always get confused, and I tend to be a grammar freak so it drives me crazy. I know that one's a verb and one's a noun, but *sighs* if only Word could be a little bit smarter.

It's the second one. Thanks. I read so fast that sometimes little awkward bits like that just don't hit me because by the time my brain processes it, my eyes are taking in the next sentence.

    I hope you continue on.

Early mornings for most people are a time for sleeping; a time for dreaming. Early mornings are not a time for teaching your hated potions professor how to make scrambled eggs. Then again, when said potions professor, with his greasy hair and complete ‘freakishness’, practically tortures your evil guardians (for lack of a better term) just by being there, it might actually be worth it.

I truly would like to read more of this story. Especially if Snape gets enlightened. Hmmmm, I wonder if that is why Dumbledore sent Snape there in the first place. Crafty! It would be fun to read the realizations: Snape on where Harry is sleeping, and that Harry really does know how to cook, and cook well, and perhaps that an alternate teaching style might be useful. I'd love to see Harry changing teaching styles after several days of Snape being frustrated (grin), so Snape can see and experience the difference.

Catastrophic events culminate in an unexpected kinship between some of Hogwarts’ most tenacious foes, while inciting bitter battles between best friends.

Good start.. I look forward to reading more.

One note: I think you mean captors instead of captives in "His wand, mercifully ignored in his captives' eagerness ..."

    On to the next chapter!

Author's Response: Eeks! I have read, and read, and read, and... well you get the point, but I have read and re-read these chapters, trying to sort out the mistakes and NEVER gave that one a second glance! I thank you so much for catching it. I don't have a beta, but perhaps I should. Anyhoo, thanks for the review!

Everyone makes mistakes, even great men like Dumbledore. But was placing six-year-old Harry Potter with Severus Snape the biggest mistake of them all? Or maybe…it could work out after all. Entrant in the 2009 Prompt Fest. Prompts: Bravery is Overrated and Boggart Under the Bed.

    Very nice progression.

At the beginning, I wasn't sure if it was a transfiguration or Animagus story, with mouse!Harry and cat!Snape, what with all the running through tall grass and hiding in small spaces.

But each step of the way was realistic, in character, and delightful.

I loved Ron and Hermione, as well as the rest of the castle inhabitants, watching through windows. And I loved Harry and Snape working together on a forgery.

    Good job.

    K

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you liked it so much - it was great fun to write, but at some parts I wasn't sure if it was straying into the ridiculous! ;)
