2021 Profile Update:

I have been away from P&S for so long (at least 8 years) that a lot of my favorite authors seem to have left, and a lot my favorite stories that were works in progress have been abandoned. But, I recently felt the desire to read some HP fanfic, and I remembered that this was once one of my favorite sites so I'm back! Here's a bit about me:

I'm a former Marine in her early thirties living somewhere in the USA. I read mostly fantasy books, with some science fiction thrown in, and I'll even read the occasional historical fiction, mystery, or horror/thriller, but my favorite genre is fantasy. For the most part, if a book involves dragons, I'm willing to give it a chance, especially if the dragons aren't just dumb beasts. The same applies to books about wolves. The first three HP books are my favorites.

My hobbies include reading (obviously!), horseback riding (when I get the chance), archery (also a rare occurence), flying (when I have the money to pay for my lessons), co-writing a fanfic of my own (when my co-author and I aren't plagued by writers' block), cross-stitching, playing games (computer, console, board games, card games, D&D, or whatever...), and sometimes watching movies. I'd like to be a pilot someday, but I'm not sure if that will ever happen. In the meantime, I have a job that I enjoy almost as much, and I'm looking to buy my first house this year.

Also, while I'm not actively beta-reading anything at the moment, if anyone is in need of a beta reader, I'm definitely interested in at least looking at your story...

What a wonderful, lovely fanfiction!! Your characterizations are amazing, and I love all of your original characters! I noticed that you haven't updated this is a really long time, and I sincerely hope that you haven't abandoned it. I thought I should point out, though, that when Harry first meets Dylan and Joseph, they are MI6 agents, but later they are MI5. Also, why did Severus not recognize Dylie? I mean, he might not have remembered who he was (it has been a long time, after all), but surely he would have thought the man looked very familiar? Just a thought...I don't normally read SuperPower!Harry fics, because they tend to be lame and unrealistic (suddenly poof! Harry has new powers and goes off to defeat the bad guys an insanely short amount of time later); but this fic has some nice depth to it, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. Please, please update soon!! If there is anything I can do to help (beta, or just someone to bounce ideas off of, or whatever) just let me know!

7-12-05 - Edited and Reposted. Over 2,000 words added. Harry is convicted of Ron and Hermione's death and thrown into Azkaban. Years later he is released when his innocence is proven. Tired of the hypocrisy and betrayal of the Wizarding World, he decides to leave. Will he really go through with it? Severus and Harry friendship. Sirius and Dumbledore bashing.

Wow. Just...wow. There's not really much else to say. This is such an amazing read, wonderfully written and with excellent characterizations. I definitely agree with how Harry acted--it wouldn't make sense for him to forgive them all for what they did to him, especially not as soon as they all wanted it. I can't believe they were so stupid as to think they could just say "Oops. Our mistake." and it would be like it never happened. I have to admit, I was crying when Sev died. I had a feeling that maybe, just maybe, he'd either come back somehow, or it was faked, or something like that, but I didn't know for sure, and I just couldn't keep from crying. I think the way Harry left the Wizarding World was fitting, and I very much enjoyed the ending. I'm so glad you brought Severus back!! Thank you for giving us fans such an amazing story!!!

What?! You can't stop there...This story is simply amazing, and though I just found it and so hadn't read it in time to nominate/vote it for a featured story, it certainly deserves the distinction. I can't wait for the next chapter! Please update soon!! I love your characterizations of both Harry and Severus, and how their relationship progresses; it's all very believable, although I do wish you'd given us some insight into Snape's thoughts during Harry's first Quidditch match...By the way, I did happen to notice the plot hole in the Christmas chapter, and I'm so glad you cleared it up in the next chapter. I had been wondering what Harry's reaction would be when he truly realized what had been written. I expect Dumbledore will have a bit of trouble getting to Harry. I mean, you haven't really said how their relationship has progressed, so I'm left to assume that Harry still doesn't really trust Dumbledore...? Oh, and I thought I would mention: in the middle of chapter 20, starting with "They both know it is not a suggestion" when Snape sends Harry to bed, your writing suddenly changed to present tense narration, and then went back to past tense with the next section. Since it happened apparently randomly, midchapter, I assume you don't realized you did it, so I thought I'd point it out. (sorry this rambled so much!). Anyway, keep up the wonderful writing, and update soon!

    Author's Response:

Yeah, it was a bit of a mean place to stop.  But the next chapter's up now!  I'm glad you found the story and have enjoyed it.  I wouldn't say that Harry doesn't trust Dumbledore, I think he does, but at this point pretty much anyone would have trouble getting through to him.

(Thanks for pointing out the tense issue.  I am aware of it, but obviously wasn't at the time.  That's what happens when you take days to write chapters.  Things get mucked up.)

Wow! An absolutely wonderful story! I must admit, the present tense narration is rather odd, but I think that's mostly because most of the things I read are written in the past tense...but it's very well-written, and I love the plot. You've done a wonderful job with the characterizations; it's not hard to imagine this actualy happening in 5th year. I can't hardly wait for the next chapter!!! *whines* I want more! Now! ...oops...sorry...*ahem* Please update soon!!

Excellent story! You don't ever disappoint, do you? I find your characterizations of Harry and Severus to be completely believable, especially considering everything Harry's been through, particulary since the summer, and I've greatly enjoyed their interactions.
Hmm...you mention the Umbridge conversation, again...I wonder...*grins in anticipation* Does that mean that Severus will find out about the blood quill, now? I think it would be interesting if he found out without Harry telling him about it, and then confronted Harry--for instance, he notices the scars on Harry's hand, or Ron or Hermione let something slip in Severus' hearing (though not necessarily in his presence...), or something like that...Just throwing in my two cents...
Anyway, thank you for such wonderful writing that allows me to procrastinate on other things! I can't wait for the next chapter! Please update soon!!!

Author's Response: Oh, thank you!  That means a lot!  I just try to write the best as I can, and hope people will enjoy it.  It's really encouraging when they do.  I'm still planning the best way for Sev to find out about blood quill, but he will at some point.  Thank you for reading and for your reviews!  They've made my day!

*is stunned* You're a wonderful writer and I mean this in the best possible way, but...*begin rant* You're a horrible person, you know that? How could you end a chapter like that?! What's Harry feeling, besides horror? What's Snape thinking and feeling? (I could guess, of course, but that's beside the point!). Where did Harry Floo to? Dumbledore's office? The Burrow? Somewhere else?? How could you do this to us, your faithful, loyal readers??? You'd better update very soon! Or...or...well, or else!! *ends rant, looking a bit sheepish* Sorry about that...I'm not used to cliffhanger endings, and I honestly don't mind all that much, as long as I go ahead and move on to the next chapter...in fact, I almost like cliffhangers when I don't have to wait for the next chapter, and I tend to get a bit of a chuckle thinking about the poor souls who'd had to wait and suffer when that particular chapter first came out...so I suppose I'm only getting what I deserve, as I now have to wait and suffer...Anyway, you've posted yet another wonderful chapter! I'd expected that Sev's behavior was due to something regarding his Christmas present to Harry, but I didn't expect him to tell Harry about being the one to tell Voldie about the prophecy--though I should have thought of it, and it didn't surprise me too much that Severus would tell Harry; I just hadn't anticipated it. I'm also not too surprise that Harry took off without actually thinking--he just reacted, and I don't blame him. I imagine I might have done much the same thing if it were me...It would be too sudden and unexpected a revelation and I know that I would definitely need to get away to some place where I could be by myself so I could just think. *pouts* And I just realized that you didn't even give any hints about what Harry is getting Severus for Christmas, beyond his remarks about adding color to Sev's wardrobe, but I have a feeling he was teasing...But anyway, thank you so much for providing such excellent material for me to stay up into the wee hours of the morning reading! Keep it up, and update soon, please!!!

    Author's Response:

Thanks for the lovely review!  Sorry to leave you hanging, but at least it gives you something to look forward to, right?  I do know what you mean about the cliffhangers, though.  I hate them, when I'm a reader and not a writer...and yet I use them frequently in my own stories.  What does that say about me?

I do feel sorry for both the boys right now.  Severus is truly repentent, and so afraid of losing Harry.  It was all he could do to confess, but his own sense of integretity (sp?) insisted that Harry deserved to know.  On the other hand, Harry has suffered a great deal because of Severus' actions, and I can't blame him for being upset and needing to get away to think.  I think I'd do that too, just like you.

I'll try to put in more about the Christmas presents in the next chapter.

Wow!! Another wonderful chapter! I don't think Severus was too OOC in this chapter, considering how he'd worked himself up over what Harry's reaction might be, and then being badly injured (which tends to make people a little more emotional anyway), and then finally Harry's forgiveness...I agree that he would have been completely overwhelmed. *grins* I love the adoption, and the way you referenced the end of chapter 5 with Dumbledore's comment was just awesome! It made me laugh. Thanks so much for the great chapter! Please update again soon!!!

Author's Response: Thank you!  That's what I was thinking, too, about how Severus would be very touched by Harry's forgiveness.  I'm so glad you liked it all!

After Harry is caught for exploding a cauldron in 2nd year Potions, Snape insists he keep a firm hand on the boy he must secretly protect. However, he discoveres that there is more to the twelve year old than unruliness and disrespect. Similarly, Harry learns from and gains a new perspective of his professor.

Wonderful story! I tend to be wary of fics that have corporal punishment; while I'm not against the concept, I've tried to read a few, and they were just poorly done...but if the plot summary sounds good, I'll give the fic a try, and I must say that I am definitely pleased with this fic--it's very enjoyable, and I found myself laughing this chapter as I read Snape saying things that I've heard my parents (usually my mom, though), say: "Don't you roll your eyes at me, I'll...[insert whatever she felt appropriate at the time]" or "And so help me, if you don't do as I say [it was usually more specific, but you get the idea...] I will give you the spanking of your life!" *chuckles* I can't even count the number of times my siblings and I were given those, and similar, threats when we were children...my brother was the one who usually ended up finding out that my parents were actually serious, and I managed (most of the time) to learn from his mistakes. Anyway, this is very well done, and I've enjoyed it immensely. Normally, I don't review until I get to the last chapter posted, and then I'll review every chapter after that, but I just had to say something after this chapter! Also, I wanted to point out that "opaque" does not mean "heavy"...it can mean "dense," but usually means "not transparent." For instance, a stone wall is opaque; a normal (not frosted, stained, or any other special type of glass) window is not opaque. I just thought I'd point that out. *grins* Ok, now I'm off to read the rest of the story! Thank you for the wonderful fic!

    Author's Response:

Thanks for the wonderful review!  The reason I had Snape describe 'opaque' as 'heavy' is because the word 'dense' wouldn't have made much sense to a twelve year old.  I used it once in a ninth grade class, and the kids were like... Huh?  lol.

I'm really, really glad you decided to give my story a chance!  I know that there are a mantra of poorly-written stories that contain corporal punishment, although, I must say that this site has quite a few well-written and enjoyable ones.  I just try to make my story as realistic as possible, and I approach Harry's character from a true twelve-year-old's perspective.  I know he retrieved the Sorcerer's stone...blah blah blah...  But seriously.  He's twelve.  And I try to just make him out to be a kid.  ;)

I do hope you continue reading my story, as I'm anxious to see what you think about it by the end!  Thanks again for the encouraging feedback!

Oh my gosh!!! You can't leave it there! *sniffs* It's not fair! This is such a wonderful fic. Your characterization of Severus is wonderfully done, and I find it interesting that Shadow has no real memories of being Harry...I wonder...will Harry remember being Shadow? Also, your general plot is quite original (at least, I haven't come across one like it, and while I haven't read every fanfic out there, I have read a great many of them...I noticed that you've only discovered the fandom recently, so if you like, I could recommend some...by the way, "A Year Like None Other" is one of my favorites, too.) I also understand that you have many more chapters written in French. While I am certainly can't speak, read, or write French, I can correct your English, if that's where the translation problem is. I can't translate, but I can make sure it has good English grammar, even from a direct translation (I hope that made sense...). Anyway, I'm willing to help in whatever way I can. I literally can't wait for the next chapter to be out! Keep it up, you're doing so well!

Author's Response: Thank you very much, I am in fact very lucky to have both a translator and a professional beta who actually do all the work for me, I'm afraid my translation skills were lost after a few chapters : it is not so funny to translate into another language than your own ! But thank you for the offer, I much appreciate ;-)
