About me:

Hi, I'm Jan. :D I love Snape and Harry fics, and just mentor fics in general. I first started Potions and Snitches (P&S) as a safe place to find Snape & Harry gen fics without stumbling into Snape and Harry slash (aka Snarry, or HP/SS).

Fandoms that I like to read fanfiction of include: Star Trek, Star Wars, Kung Fu : The Legend Continues, Dragonball Z, Stargate SG1, Batman, Angel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. I like Gen and Mentor fics mostly. I love hurt/comfort, angst, whump, drama, raw emotions, and vivid descriptions best.

I know how to make and edit graphics, icons, and layouts (html and css). I am a master web searcher. XD

My dreams? One day I'd like to be able to run up a mountain effortlessly, or at least easily. :) I'd like to see Potions and Snitches host every single good Snape and Harry Gen fic there ever existed. I'd like to have people who post here get 100 reviews a chapter. I'd like active-to-the-bursting challenges and contests. I want the site to be a great, fun place that readers of Snape and Harry fics loved and knew as active.

    Lovely. Thanks so much for sharing! I think that this is one of the best scenerios we can hope for. I loved how Harry tried to help Snape and explained about love. I love how Harry didn't really know it himself but explained what the Weasley's did. I liked the way they said they could use each other's names but they kept failing back to the old names - that was more realistic. I'm glad I read it.

    Nice drabble. :) I liked Snape being "another shadow". I liked the allusion to events in the first book and I liked how you added <i>"Tracking is not impossible, no.</i>" Thanks for sharing!

    What does the mean? "I examine his presents three hours before the dawn. <i>Inside the warded circle, I wait for an explosion.</i>"



    Author's Response:

    I was trying to say that Snape was the one Dumbledore assigned to protect Potter, including making sure the gifts sent to him for Christmas aren\'t trapped with explosives or curses, or other nasties.

     Writing a drabble is a lot harder than I\'d thought. :)  Getting across the point that Snape is the one assigned to protect Potter, and does so in the shadows while Dumbledore is the one who talks to Potter and pulls the strings of everyone, and all in 100 words (!) certainly took longer than I thought it would. 

     But thank you for enjoying this!  I think I\'ll fix it up a bit, tighten and clarify the wording a bit more...

Harry is dying in the Hospial Wing a decade after the defeat of the Dark Lord. Snape is recalled from exile to tend to him, for reasons only Harry keeps mum about. Snape is not a very sympathetic or gentle care-taker, both because he is bitter and tired, and because Harry throws things at Snape's head.

There is also a horcrux involved, somewhere.

    Hehe, cute. XD Funny Harry busting in on Snape with his lips still pursed in a whistle. I liked the conversation a lot, about Harry actually caring if Snape tried whistling in a meeting and died because of it, and then telling SNape that Dumbledore wouldn't allow it. XD Cute!

Snape knows Harry Potter's eyes. He knows how they've changed and how come they have. Yet Snape can't escape the memory of the young Harry who he met over old Chinese food, stolen bandages, and a dislocated shoulder. Wait and Hope for the world's end.

    Oh my gosh. They had better be there to rescue Harry!! I don't think he can survive anything other than that. Intense chapter, you did a really good job conveying Harry's plight and his pain. The bleeding was... you just did a really good job, I was really scared when he tried to stop the bleeding, it was a very human and vulnerable thing to do. Great job with this chapter.

    :) Great chapter. I am so happy that Snape and Draco were there to help Harry. Poor kid.

    "I know of the Horcruxes, Harry," Snape stated bluntly. "I wish to help you find the rest to destroy Voldemort." AWESOME line. hehe, I loved it. Also, Snape replied hotly, disturbed by the extent of the injuries he’d found. You really conveyed that nicely there.

    As for things that could be improved on, I think that you have a really nicely plotted story and that it moves along very well. However, I think that you have a couple of gaps or strange order of action, things that the characters do. It's not really that bad, I had to think deeply about what exactly it was that I was noticing, but it is detracting from your story a little. Usually hurt and comfort scenes are exploited to their fullest without going overboard. For those who love h/c (hurt/comfort) the other parts of the story can be choppy and they won't care as long as the h/c part is done well. The writing was not quite fluid in this chapter to carry the h/c part. It's nothing really important but maybe just having an awareness will help. :)
