About me:

Hi, I'm Jan. :D I love Snape and Harry fics, and just mentor fics in general. I first started Potions and Snitches (P&S) as a safe place to find Snape & Harry gen fics without stumbling into Snape and Harry slash (aka Snarry, or HP/SS).

Fandoms that I like to read fanfiction of include: Star Trek, Star Wars, Kung Fu : The Legend Continues, Dragonball Z, Stargate SG1, Batman, Angel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. I like Gen and Mentor fics mostly. I love hurt/comfort, angst, whump, drama, raw emotions, and vivid descriptions best.

I know how to make and edit graphics, icons, and layouts (html and css). I am a master web searcher. XD

My dreams? One day I'd like to be able to run up a mountain effortlessly, or at least easily. :) I'd like to see Potions and Snitches host every single good Snape and Harry Gen fic there ever existed. I'd like to have people who post here get 100 reviews a chapter. I'd like active-to-the-bursting challenges and contests. I want the site to be a great, fun place that readers of Snape and Harry fics loved and knew as active.

When Severus overhears a wish Harry has, he starts to wonder why such a simple wish hasn’t already been granted. He also begins to wonder what Harry has been hiding and finds himself surprised at why Harry has lied to him. A one shot.

    Awwwwwww, I loved it! Of course Harry would get into trouble. I’m glad that Severus was able to keep cool headed despite the trouble Harry gets into. I did like the beginning, and the progression of trust and guardianship that ensued. Good job on this story, it was a real treat!

    Not many have Harry going to St Mungoes, so it was cool to see that somewhat. I did like the healer, and how he released Harry to Snape’s care. That was smart of him. Very well done on the side original character of the healer. I wouldn’t mind him popping up other places. Thanks for the post!

Severus is not happy to have his summer holidays interrupted to investigate Mrs. Figg's claims that all is not well at Privet Drive. He is even less happy at what he finds. Harry is sent to live with the Weasley family. Soon it turns out that raising a traumatized child is a challenge that might be too much for the Weasley parents, and Snape is very unhappy indeed to have his holidays interrupted once again.

    Great beginning! I really like how in character everyone is, and how Snape observed and asked questions and did not just remove Harry right away. Very much in character. Great descriptions. I’m interested to see what happens next. Thanks for writing and posting. Please update when you can.

    Ohhh poor boy. He is so lost and confused. That sandwich could of been a trap. Maybe Tom will notice and mention it missing, and Severus will try to set a trap just like it. Lovely story. I really like how different it is, that the Weasleys didn't work out for Harry. Snape is smart, smarter than Harry by far. He'll be able to catch him. But then what? I look forward to reading about how and what happens next. Thank you so much for the update!

    Author's Response: Thank you! There's a lot of stories with corporal punishment, and in most cases, it is Snape who does it - but in canon, there's no indication that he would do something like this, whereas it is hinted at that Mr. Weasley sometimes resorts to corporal punishment for the twins. (And he's clearly from a generation who considers it normal) I just don't think Harry would react favourably to corporal punishment - he's too sensitive to just shrug it off like the Weasley boys apparently do, but also too Gryffindor-ish and rebellious to try and change his behaviour to avoid punishment.

    Oh no! Harry is in trouble now! I’m scared for him. I love the use of the doe patronus. It is so iconic but hardly ever used. So lovely, and smart of Snape. Fantastic writing. I’m loving this story.

    Author's Response: Well, Snape does want to keep his patronus secret. But of course, when it is about saving Lily's child, it is appropriate to use it. It's the closest Harry gets (before the resurrection stone anyway) to meeting his mother, seeing as the doe likely consists of 90% memories of Lily. Thank you!

    Awwww, I love it. Beautiful the way the doe, and Snape are taking care of Harry without Harry knowing it. I hope Harry gets the rest he needs, and that Snape finds him soon before he gets too sick! I love that the doe is staying with Harry. Awww. Thanks for the update and for sharing this story!

    Yay! Yay! Harry is getting the care he needs, finally. I am so glad that Snape managed to make contact, and get Harry to rest, and eat. The hot water bottle was sweet. I’m glad the doe came back too! I wonder what Snape is up to now? Making more potions for Harry? Reporting to Dumbledore? Taking a nap in another room? I’m loving this story. Please update when you can!

    I loving this story and chapter. Poor Harry, realizing the “toy” had actually been a pet. He must feel terrible. I’m glad Snape knows that Harry did not maliciously torture an innocent animal now. Poor, poor Ginny. The boys deserved that whacking. I can understand Harry not wanting to return; it would probably spiral him into depression to return. I’m glad Harry is feeling better, but I wonder how he will feel when the potion wears off. I bet Snape could use Harry to harvest snake venom. Maybe he can convince Harry to come help him harvest snake ingredients in exchange for room and board. I’m loving this story, and Harry’s thoughts, and Snape’s thoughts. Very well done in the characterization and growth of these two characters. I’m loving the little manipulations Snape is using, all good intentioned. Fantastic update. Thank you for writing and sharing!

    Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, Harry is horrified - he felt bad enough when he thought it was just a toy, seeing as it's almost exactly the same thing Malfoy did to Neville. I am against hitting children, but I have to say, with the twins, I understand why their parents sometimes feel a scolding is not enough. Which is why I made them the main perpetrators - I don't think Harry would ever do something bad enough for Arthur to get angry on his own. Interesting idea about Snape asking Harry to help him harvest snake venom. That would be a way to get around Harry's lack of trust - he is much more ready to believe that Snape has selfish reasons than to trust that Snape cares about him.
