Once upon a time a new headmaster dragged a young man in his charge back from the depths of darkness. Now, years later, another boy has turned up to school in poor shape and the Headmaster thinks it’s time for Severus Snape to pay forward what was once done for him, even if said Potions Master goes kicking and screaming all the way. - Amazing story thus far! But I'm worried about Hedwig...? Was Harry able to rescue her when he went back to Privet Drive to get his stuff? Am very caught up in this version of Severus, who is still struggling with his own demons as he attempts to get Harry to face his Dragon/troll/hippogriff... So glad they've managed to open a thread of communication at last. But where will they go next?

- I kept reading straight through till the very end! Your exposition of Snape's background was so detailed, especially concerning his thought processes and emotions as both a boy and an adult. We can clearly see the parallels between his abused life and Harry's, and the frustration Snape feels with Dumbledore (regarding the Headmaster's conviction that Snape is the ideal person to deal with Harry's acting out) is EVENTUALLY laid to rest, but not before you've treated us to several rounds of engrossing angst! Harry, too, finally comes to terms with his own life, and that hug at the end felt wonderful, as unexpected as it was. 😊
My highest praise focuses on your exceptionally-detailed history of how Severus got involved with Voldemort in the first place. I've never seen anyone else handle his "indoctrination" into the Death Eaters with such subtlety as you have -- this rings soooo true to life: people getting in over their heads before they realize quite how or why it happened, and regretting their actions and the consequences which they can never undo. Well done!!!!!

- That was HILARIOUS! Personally, I think the buzzing wings gave it away -- more so than if Harry had played "masked bandit" and did a run-by pie attack -- but I never anticipated Snape's comeback! And the last lines were perfect! Great laughs! (Oh, and Ron with the frogs... 😆!!!)

- This is such a captivating story! I've been reading it straight through, but Harry's pneumonia made me recall something: His lowered immune system and the need for avoiding germs seems at odds with Floo travel, and an earlier chapter even mentioned Harry shaking off soot after traveling via Floo. I don't know if the soot plays any role in his condition, but I agree it's difficult to avoid contamination with other people coming and going. It'll be interesting to see what Severus comes up with to counter it ...

Yes, the floo would absolutely be an issue, but I purposely decided to ignore it in this fic since another "cancer Harry" story has that as a major point in it. That author did a really great job with handling Harry's autoimmunity and I didn't feel comfortable crossing over too much there.

- Utterly, unequivocally AWESOME STORY!!! I'll admit there were times when I held my breath, others where I gritted my teeth, and still others where I groaned aloud. I have no personal experience with cancer patients, although I did lose a very dear friend to her third battle with cancer (tho' she lived out of state and I never knew her day-to-day struggles firsthand). Reading your story truly made me understand the extreme difficulty that chemo patients contend with each and every day, and the total dedication they need to commit to their treatment. It's been a genuine education for me, and doubtless for all of your readers as well. All of the times that Harry wanted to give up... I wanted to urge him on, but I felt so guilty knowing how much more he'd be forced to suffer. All I could do was hang on and hope for the best, and you didn't let any of us down in the end! Thank you so much!!! 😊
Every once in a while Hogwarts held a summer camp the week after school ended. Severus was none too pleased that this was one of those years the Ministry and the board of governors had decided to hold one. And though he would like to think there was nothing worse than little miscreants staying on the grounds for a full week past term, there was Potter, strutting across the grounds as a camp counselor, with a group of starry eyed first and second years following after him. - Loved this chapter and Harry's ingenuity! The concept of the summer magic camp is cool, VERRRRY cool!, but aha! Now the plot begins to thicken with Harry's contemplation of misdirection concerning his personal situation. I wonder what sort of tangle he's going to get himself into... 😉

- Another well-paced chapter full of detailed exposition and further character/relationships development (trying not to put spoilers!). But my absolute favorite scene had to be Holly & Draco and their gymnastics & jump rope antics!!! I kept laughing out loud as the action built upon itself, and even the adults got drawn into it! (Definitely not putting spoilers about THAT!!!) AWESOME!!! Can't wait to see what everyone gets up to next! 😂

- Wow! A wonderful blend of canon timeline/events and your own universe! I really wish I could give Iris a big hug, for being there for Harry, time and time again. And Dudley--I'm eager to see if he continues to change for the better, or whether his behavior toward Harry is a temporary anomaly. And little Holly, holding Harry's arm "hostage"! Your details make the story glow with life!
