Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing! Yes, Harry is too paranoid, but he is slowly beginning to trust Snape's motives, as shown in this chapter. However, Harry's only been at Snape for a few weeks, and he has nearly ten years of trauma and self-reliance to overcome in order for him to fully trust Snape. There will be a turning point in their relationship pretty soon.
When a potions accident has some interesting consequences, Harry is forced to spend the Christmas holidays in the dungeons with his least-favorite teacher. Snape is, of course, furious with the situation, but he soon learns that when it comes to Harry Potter, not everything is as it seems.

When Dumbledore sees the welts upon Harry Potter, he removes him from his relative's care at once. His guardian for the summer is none other than Severus Snape. It is an unhappy arrangement-Snape is snarky and snide, making Harry do chores and never keeping him happy. But Harry realises that Snape is not as he seems. “Snape was definitely up to something. He was sure of it. But he could not figure out what. The signs were all there, but he had no evidence. He considered speaking to McGonagall about it, but it felt like his first year all over again. He knew that McGonagall trusted Snape, and without proof his suspicions would just be shot down.” A story written after the Final Battle in Harry’s final year at Hogwarts, canon except for Snape surviving (and possibly the Epilogue). Written for Mellow Moon’s Mysterious Potion challenge. Three-shot.

When he learns about the Dursleys, Dumbledore forces Snape to adopt Harry. Harry is frightened knowing that Snape and his father were rivals in school, but things are even worse than he had imagined. As Harry learns of the real connection between Snape and his father, the line between good and evil starts to blur. What will Harry do when he learns about how the death eaters started and he finds himself sympathizing with them? Will Snape overcome his horrendous past and give Harry love and support as his world view crumbles around him?
