Lovely chapter. I like how Hermione gains comfort as she works to help heal Moon Fire as that is so often the case, that we gain healing and comfort from helping others. Additionally, I like how you portrayed Draco and that he will be a supporting character. Good to be reminded that not everyone who follows a certain orthodox behaves in a manner which we believe they should.

    I look forward to more.

Author's Response: Yes, Hermione will learn that is the truth since sometimes focusing on another's pain helps you deal with your own and understand it better.  Glad you like my Draco, he's a but different from how he's usually presented. And that last is definitely true. No one is of a piece. Thanks for reading!

During their third year, Harry and Draco take their rivalry too far while in the Room of Requirement. As a result, a magical accident transports them to a make-believe world where they had grown up from toddlers and their caring father is...Severus Snape.
Desperate to get back to their own world, the boys try to get along and play the part, but to Snape nothing has changed. And what happens when they return to their rightful time and place?
Their illusionary adventure will have them realize the man that is capable of being family and cause them to form the friendship they hadn't thought possible to obtain.
Playing pretend is the one that starts it all: it's part 1 of 4 in the “Shifted Reality” series that will eventually have two boys and one man learning to be a family.

Great chapter. I like all of the misassumptions which are in place as they serve to reveal depth to each character and keep Snape guessing what is up with his sons. I look forward to reading the next chapter.

By third year, Harry was starting to think he knew his own identity. Then, the discovery of an old secret threatens to throw his world into turmoil, yet again. Nor is he the only one who finds his life affected...

Who is he, anyway?

I loved how you interweaved all of the different perspectives in this and that Severus is still holding out in spite of the evidence Poppy has put together. Love this line: "...and the faintest twinge which might have been yearning or perhaps merely indigestion." I am eagerly looking forward to more.

    Author's Response:

Thank you! And, between you and me, I was rather fond of that line myself. ^^

Glad you're enjoying it - ta for the review!

The differing perspectives are coming together nicely, Remus' being that of someone who was close to James, Poppy's one which is clinical and, without her, Severus would have no prompting to tell Harry, Harry's being one of confusion, and Severus' being one of extreme denial. Excellent work.

    Author's Response: Thank you. ^^

The Golden Trio tries to prove that Snape really is a vampire one day. However, they learn a secret about Snape that sends Harry and Snape's dislike for each other into a talespin through a series of events.

Very mysterious and intriguing with all of the hallucinations, the reader is left wondering what is and what is not real as though they themselves are experiencing what Harry is. Nice work.

Author's Response: Thanks for your review. It's very confusing as the writer as to what is real and what isn't. I might have Harry experience one more hallucination in the end of the next chapter, but I'm not sure yet. Again, thank you.

Darkness swallowed Severus's childhood and is threatening to engulf Harry's. Will the man recognize himself in the boy before history repeats itself? [Generally short chapters due to (almost) daily updates]

You wrote the boys' interaction so well, reminds me of the 7th grade students that I deal with on a daily basis, I had to resist the urge to scold them. I like how Harry was able to release some of his emotions in a safe environment.

It was a nice twist that Ron was the aggressor instead of Draco. I am curious as to how Hermione will fit into all of this and looking forward to the next chapter.

    Author's Response:

Thanks, I'm really glad that the children's interaction is coming across as realistic: as every writer here knows, it's rather taxing to give each character in a large group a different 'voice' and more taxing still to get their interaction sounding natural, so I'm really grateful to hear that I succeeded in part.

I thought that this take on the scene might work ^^. In the canon, Ron is pretty hot-tempered and prone to unreasonable resentment* so it's probable that, if Harry was sorted into Slytherin and associated with the 'wrong' people, Ron would be very upset/angry and, if Neville also seemed to gravitate towards Harry/Draco, he'd be a target for Ron's anger. (More so than Harry/Draco in fact because the former have all of Slytherin behind them whereas Neville is pretty much alone.) I chose Seamus as the main co-aggressor because of his petty and tactless behaviour at the beginning of 'Order of the Phoenix.'

     * i.e. Ron envys Harry's fame, depite the fact that it cost Harry his parents, his childhood and his piece of mind).

I love it! The firsties taking it upon themselves to resort Hermione. I really do hope that it will actually happen. I think she would be a great addition as a Slytherin to this story. Excellent writing! :D

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. I thought it'd be rather sweet and funny for the 'evil' house to turn around and put Gryffindor to shame lol. Hermione's very intelligent, ambitous and has a fair degree of cunning, so I agree that she'd be a great addition to Slytherin.

Those do sound like just punishments. I like that the things which Petunia prised the most are being deprived of her. Seems quite fitting.

Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I thought so too.

Great description of how tired Severus was, you built it up quite nicely so that the reader felt sorry for him when faced with a handful of students upon his arrival in the dungeons. I think it is wonderful that Hermione is now in Slytherin. Nice work.

Author's Response: Thanks. I really wanted the reader to feel for poor Severus by the time he reached the dungeons- too tired to think and, oh dear, got to deal with House politics. I'm glad that Hermione's resorting has recieved such a positive response ^^

I love the relationship you are detailing between Draco and his father. Great letters and yum! :D

Author's Response: Thanks ^^. I really wanted to show Lucius in a domestic setting and, of course, these letters are the ideal opportunity to see the man behind the mask
