About me:

A few things about myself:

   1) I am Canadian (cough ... and proud of it)

    2) I absolutely love the readers on this site, and hearing their thoughts/questions either by reviews or messaging makes me simply dance.

   3) I have a pet newt. He is so old it's not even funny. Yeah, 14 yrs. Pet store said 3. Good thing I like him.

   4) Lastly: I got into writing fanfiction here for two reasons.

           A) The first is that I love to write. And not only that, I wanted to learn to write.

           B) Potions and Snitches is a great place for learning.

Thus - I've made a lot of mistakes writing, but because of how  awesome the reviewers are, I've learned from those mistakes and gotten better. The kindness of the readers has kept me coming back time and time again, and really helped me improve my writing. At this point I'm now working on an original novel, meaning fanfiction has taken a back seat. That was always the goal, and I hope one day to take my writing somewhere besides just the internet and my friends' bookshelves.

     Well, that's all folks!

P.S. I am on fanfiction.net, but my pen name is LittleWhitetail, rather than Whitetail.

Current Project: Jan 1st 2016 update - Writing is going quite well. Still taking a break from fanfiction. Not promising any new P&S stories, but it isn't impossible. My original novel is slow but progressing, and is into some of the final drafts. Had some success in the past year - got a short story published! If you'd like to read the story, check out Chicken Soup for the Soul: Think Possible. The story is called "The Pivotal Moment". Also, on a fanfiction note, I still read reviews (but am slow to answer). Also, feel free to message me - questions, concerns, anything. I do love hearing from people here. Cheers!

Response to Natural Disaster at Hogwarts challenge. Hogwarts has always been considered the safest place in the magical world, protected from any possible danger. But what happens something no one could've imagined occurs? Something literally Earth Shattering? Will the school, and more important its occupants ever recover? And how will it affect the relationship between Harry and Snape?

Bit of a break from the action, eh? Well I'm glad they got the Hufflepuffs out. Kinda doubt Dumbledore would take so long to come to the ghost idea though. But I guess he's human, and it all has been a big shock. I Sure hope the rest of gryffindor tower's occupants are alright. I've been wondering about that.

Yikes ... maybe Snape can send one of the least hurt kids off for help on his broom, and get them to bring Madam Pomfrey to them? Sure seems like a sad situation, what with all the Gryffindors not making it.

Oh my goodness gracious, I sure as heck hope Severus knows what he's doing. Can he not heal Harry's arms by magic though, at least to stop some of the loss of blood? I recall he was able to heal the damaged Harry did on Draco in the sixth book, and healing a cursed wound can't be too much different from a regular one, right? Let's hope that things work out alright!

It’s another normal evening for Harry Potter, serving detention in the dungeons, that is until he notices water at his feet… water that keeps getting deeper. Harry never expected Hogwarts to flood, or that Severus Snape would come after him when he’s swept out of the castle by the ever present water. A story in response to the 'Natural Disaster At Hogwarts' Challenge by Whitetail.

What a treat! I can't believe yet another person answered the challenge! Oh my, and what a good start too! Totally gripping, and now I'm asking myself what started it all! I liked how Harry saved Draco. It is definitely fitting of Draco's character and background that he can't swim. Besides, when would a posh pureblood have to learn anyway? I love your banner too, by the way. Just looking at it really set the scene for the story, and as I was reading I felt like I was there. I also really liked how Harry discovered the flood. Definitely worth a ten! I am super excited for more!

Author's Response: Awesome!  I haven't decided what started the flood yet.  Ch 2 is posted though!  Thanks for the challenge!

I loved the image of Harry falling into the rowboat and laughing. That definitely would be his response, I think. The dynamic between Snape and Harry is good as well. No wonder Harry is having such a tough time rowing though, having been starved all summer. The descriptions are great - it sure sounds like this flood is a bad one. But where is all the water coming from? And let us hope the giant squid doesn't come knocking! Oh, and couldn't they used aguamenti to get fresh water to drink, at least? Harry wouldn't know the charm yet, though, but Snape would. Although, he probably wasn't paying much attention to Harry's complaint.
Good thing they found shelter. Lets hope the water doesn't rise any, otherwise they'll be in a pretty bad state! Of course ... I suppose they could use bubblehead charms long enough to get out, but it would be a heck of a swim! Anyway, enough rambling ... great chapter!

Oh Harry ... look what you've done now. I liked how Snape was getting a bit hysterical too, and how Harry's confusion started to settle in from exhaustion and hunger. The shock of it all probably got to him too. Then there was the the comment about Ron giving birth to a brick ... that had me busting a gut. Hilarious. And by the way, I think that considering the Gryffindors and Slytherins are sharing a common room, Harry and Snape might be better off where they are!

    Author's Response:

Lol, yeah that was my very polite way of saying that Ron s**t a brick lol.  And yeah, they just might be better off there lol.  Glad you're enjoying it :)

Finally got a chance to read this. I've been studying all day ... and had to force myself not to read! Good chapter. I liked how Madam Pomfrey and Ginny noticed the inhaler knocking! Poor Harry - being sick sucks.

Ooh a mermaid maybe? Perhaps the giant squid? Sure it is huge but they are invertebrates and pretty good at squeezing into tight spots. Intriguing end to the chapter! More soon, please!

I really liked Draco's thoughts. While Draco being all heroic is a little hard to imagine, but seeing as he realized just how crazy it was for him to be doing that, it fit better. Mind you, he was saving his own skin by going after Harry! Where is he though? If he had to be added to the missing list, did he go after Harry again? I really enjoyed this chapter. Best one yet, in my opinion! I may be biased. Draco is one of my favourite characters, slimy as he is. Ahh ... fishing! Clever! I really liked the descriptions of the flooded castle and grounds. It would be a sight to see, alright!

That was incredible. And I mean it. Your story was beautifully written, and the way it was all tied together was wonderful. It did not feel contrived that Snape was waiting for Harry, considering how you described the grief present throughout the school - as though it could somehow provide something for the spirits to hold onto. Wow. Definitely worth a ten, and this story has certainly earned a place among my favourites list, and that is not a large list in the least! Well done.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! It means a lot that you thought it didn't seem contrived-- that was one of my major concerns when I began writing. I really didn't want to exploit the bombing for the sake of a story, but I did hope to offer a bit of light in the darkness that's been hanging over the world since it happened. It was a real challenge, trying to find a delicate balance, and I kept my fingers crossed that I wouldn't screw it up. Thanks for your lovely review! :-)
