Cauldron’s bubbled. Potions simmered. And Snape was yelling at Neville again. Just another ordinary day in Potions class, or so they all thought. When a potion reveals something out of the ordinary, Harry’s life is changed forever, and not in a positive way. Was it so unreasonable to ask that he be allowed to make it through sixth year like a normal teenager?

Rather than allowing Harry to stay at Diagon Alley after he blew up Aunt Marge, the Ministry sends Harry back to the Dursleys. Harry returns to school after a terrible summer, to find that he's not the only one with this kind of secret. A student has been killed by his family. New screening measures are put into place by the Ministry: Every student must be given a medical exam and interview to look for child abuse. With Dumbledore facing an inquiry, Snape is entrusted with the task of making sure EVERYONE receives one.

- I totally love your story.....but dude....you totally, potentially made your story a forum for this debate all on your own by posting these old "Laws" Ppl will not be able to help themselves......may I suggest just leaving the story lie as it were, an removing your AN? Some peeps may take it the wrong way (which is they're own doing I realize) but they will -- human nature and all that. (I personally find these laws offensive, and barbaric, and VERY little offends me. Others will find them offensive too) Your characters are allowed to have all the opinions they want irregardless of your own, so if Lupin decides to think abortion is "Barbaric" that is his truth. Hopefully ppl will realize on their own that this does NOT have to be their truth. Anyways, just saying.....u r playin' with fire by posting that AN. (which is fine, but it sounds like you don't want it). I couldn't even not post my little 2 cents as I have done above. What if someone reads this who has had an abortion? It is very emotional, and not as simple as people generalize it to be. I once wrote a very in depth paper on abortion. I spoke to many people, and got to have a fantastic look at BOTH sides of the debate. Someone who has had and abortion WILL take offence, and they will post, I promise you. You will get the debate you do not want. You are stirring up trouble. Anyways, very well written chapter, excellent character development, and advancement of plot.

These are real British laws.
The Abortion Act of 1967 repealed most of the 1861 law, however wizards are stuck in the 19th Century. I like to be accurate while staying in universe. I posted the A/N to be clear where I was drawing my information.
Abortion is very emotional. As you say, Lupin's position Lupin's truth. I do not expect anyone to take it as their own. It is not my truth.
There are many points in this story that are triggering, I try to warn people.
