Snape, of course, would no sooner let them play games in class than adopt Harry -GoF pg 342.

Harry never expected to be adopted—especially not by Snape. Harry hates his new father, and the feeling is mutual. But to the outside world, they have to pretend otherwise, or Harry could end up in very deep trouble. Is anyone that good at acting?

Snape's rules for Harry made sense. He didn't ask for anything unreasonable and even let Harry keep his cloak. Harry seems willing to work with Severus so this may work. At least Harry will have a decent room, plenty to eat and the usual number of chores. (if any)

It will be embarrassing but I think Harry needs to tell Snape the truth. Not that he will believe it but it's better than lying and being found out later.

I enjoyed reading about Harry and Snape's interests and the things going on in their lives. As you mentioned, Snape's were different than canon. It's good that they are trying to be civil to each other. They're going to need the practice.

The description of the house and furnishings was interesting. I like that Snape had pictures of Albus and Minerva. It made him seem more human. I imagine Harry was surprised, too.

I'm glad that Sirius didn't do anything crazy. I wouldn't have put it past him. Harry and Snape seem to be getting along fairly well so far. I wonder how long that will last?

Snape was right - that was impressive. They both did a wonderful job fooling Fudge and it sounds like they are really getting along better. I look forward to reading about their day in London.

Six year old Harry Potter was running away. And this time, no body was going to stop him...

That was a lovely story and I especially liked your ending dedication to Alan Rickman. Having Dumbledore find Harry and explain why Severus was so busy was nice. He was the right one to get through to little Harry. I liked that Harry learned a bit more about his dad and how much he cared at the end.

Harry, scarred from an attack by Ripper, enters the magical world and encounters none other than Professor Snape.
OOC warning because characters have developed/matured due to change in circumstances

I'm glad that Petunia had that mental discussion about Severus as a possible boy friend. I wondered if that would happen or not. They seem like they will be better as friends than lovers.

Really neat first chapter. I love your Petunia. It's nice that she has gotten over her attitude. I also enjoyed her comments about Lily. Having Lucius and Draco accept Harry and Petunia so quickly was an interesting twist, too. Looking forward to finding out what happens next.

Author's Response: Thank you. I wanted to write a more mature Petunia but, obviously, she needed an event which would shock her into realising that a. Harry was just a little boy and b. how nasty Vernon/Marge really were. The dog attack was a way of allowing her to witness the effect of her neglect and tolerance of abuse in her family; one child bleeds and suffers like any other and, moreover, the public outcry after such a mauling must have shamed and humiliated her. So we have a contrite and rather more self-aware Petunia, who is trying to heal both physical and mental scars, whilst knowing that she could have prevented them; she's still uncomfortable about Harry, still dislikes and envies her sister, still considers 'normal' to be the highest compliment and is still a snob BUT she is trying to be a better person, despite her natural inclination to be a bit snarky and spiteful.

So far, Lucius is only accepting on the outside; he is courting Harry's good opinion because he wants the boy to see him as an ally- any other muggle aunt of a halfblood orphan would have recieved no more than a sneer. Draco, however, really likes Harry and tolerates Petunia with no more rancour than his other friend's parents.

Title: Chapter 2: Wands 09 Feb 2016

I really enjoyed the tour of Diagon Alley. I especially liked the boastful Lucius and Petunia's reaction to his self-importance. I can see how Lucius ended up on top - he goes all out to curry favor when he wants. Having a new wand for Severus was an interesting twist. I would have thought he would get a new one when he had the money. I suppose his mum's was adequate.
