Dark secrets and an even darker past threaten to destroy the boy on whom the entire wizarding world has pinned their hopes. Can Severus Snape find it within him to heal and accept the broken child of his nemesis, and in the process, ultimately heal and accept himself? (AU-ish, but follows canon. Severitus - mentor/adoption - WARNING: mentions sexual abuse, but no details)

That was an accident waiting to happen. Harry is still on edge after being assaulted. He isn't sure what is going on with Snape. Meanwhile Severus is trying to change his viewpoint of Harry while he is in pain from his broken rib. Too bad Harry took off though.

Author's Response: Poor Harry isn't sure how to deal with his emotions. He's never exactly had a healthy adult to emulate (with the exception of Dumbledore, who's end goal has always been "The Greater Good" and not Harry himself, so in my opinion that doesn't count.) Thank you for the review! :)

It sounds like Lily and her child were a surprise to both Harry and Snape. Especially since she was in the park that Snape and Harry's mother used to frequent. Looking forward to finding out more.

Author's Response: I can't wait to see how she responds to... well, everything. She's been an interesting character to write. Thanks for the review!

Ha. I remember pogs. I wonder how many others do? It sounds like this Lily is a match for Snape in stubbornness. He may not be willing to admit it to himself but I think he is beginning to like her.

Author's Response: I think you may be correct in your assumptions. ;)

That was an emotional chapter. It couldn't have been easy for Snape to completely change his thoughts and beliefs about Harry, much less let him see his treasured possessions of Lily's. It must have given Harry a totally different view of Snape, too.

Author's Response: Yes, it definitely made Harry start thinking about Snape in a totally different way. He's starting to realize that there is definitely more than meets the eye when it comes to his professor. Thank you so much for the review! :)

I was glad that Snape finally realized that he and Harry shared the loss of Lily. Severus seems like he really is rather badly injured. Hopefully the potions will take affect and he will be up to dealing with the Dursleys.

Author's Response: Believe it or not, Severus had always been so wrapped up in his own grief that he'd never really given baby Harry much thought. But now that he's starting to know (and care for) Harry, he's starting to realize that he's not the only one who is in pain over the death of Lily. Thank you so much for the review! :)

Snape's abuse came as a surprise. The scent of the cigarette giving him a flashback made sense though. It's amazing how the smell of something can trigger a memory. It's a good thing he ran into Lily. He needs the distraction right now.

Author's Response: Poor Snape... To be quite honest, my version of Snape has gotten darker than I originally intended. But as tormented as the canon version was, I wanted to give it greater depth. Not that I could be glad that someone was ever abused, even if it was just a fictional character, but I'm glad that it's coming across as a natural progression in the story. Thank you so much for the review! :)

It sounds like Lily has some power. I'm glad she isn't cowed by Snape. He needs someone strong to keep him in line. I enjoyed your comment about your background. Reading the info about the writers is always interesting. They range from young people to the retired and cover all sorts of backgrounds.

Author's Response: Oh, Lily is definitely not cowed by Snape in the least, lol. She is Miss Sassy-Pants and is not afraid to put him in line when she needs to. Thank you so much for the review! :)

Taking care of Harry is going to put Severus in a difficult position. I wonder if Harry will be able to keep quiet about where he is staying now?

Author's Response: Only time will tell. Thank you so much for the review! :)

Severus really doesn't seem to have any sense of self-worth. He is even worse than Harry. Harry had enough of a look at Severus' past that I don't think he will let it drop though. The one-shot about Parvati sounds interesting. I would enjoy reading it. I was very glad to hear that your husband is OK. That must have been terrifying for you.

Author's Response: Yes, terrifying is an understatement. I practically tore the hospital apart to get to him. But thank the good Lord, all is well and he's on the mend now. And you're completely right about Sev... His sense of self-worth is unhealthy at best, completely non-existent at worst. The poor guy has been through a lot in his life... Thank goodness he's got people with his best interest now in his corner!! We'll see what happens. Thank you for the review! :)

I don't see Harry staying with the Weasleys too long. He is going to want to help Snape. As for Albus, I am surprised that he didn't head to the Weasley home immediately to work on warding.

Author's Response: I didn't do a very good writing it - in fact I don't even think I mentioned it (shame on me - but Dumbledore did in fact strengthen the wards the day that Harry arrived. And I have a feeling you may be right about Harry staying with the Weasleys...
