Following the death of Sirius, Harry isn't sure what to make of the sudden appearance of a six-year-old boy. The pair form a bond, unaware they're half-brothers, and Harry decides to take the boy to Hogwarts and hide him there. To aide the boy's education, Harry anonymously exchanges letters with Snape.

A story of a how a young boy becomes a father-figure to another while their own father is oblivious of their biological existence. But can sixteen-year-old Harry give what he himself has not gained? Can he go an entire year without being discovered? Just how far will Severus go to find the writer of those letters...Or are some things best left unknown?

Title: Chapter 32: Hello, Father 12 Sep 2013

Your updating this story is like a dream-come-true for me. I gasped aloud when I saw you'd updated it this morning. Anyway, fabulous chapter. I wasn't sure how things would move at this point, and couldn't think up much myself other than a sappy, too-abrupt ending. I'm so glad you have such a better creative sense of timing and restraint than I do. I'm glad the story still has a ways to go. It's been so well-crafted all the way through, I'm glad it's going to stretch out into a strong conclusion. Can't wait for more!!

Author's Response: Wow, thanks. I'm glad I could make you happy. Oh, no, you'll never get an too-abrupt, sappy ending from me. This story has a very long way to go yet, in fact this isn't even HALF of the story yet. There will even be a sequal. Thank you very much for your review and comments. I will be updating again soon.

Title: Chapter 33: Many Things Come to an End 07 Oct 2013

Another brilliant chapter. Considering Harry and his self-sacrificing ways, it made perfect sense that he would have kept quiet about his own relation to Snape. Despite his own desperate desire for and right to his own family, his first priority for a while has been Toby, and he probably wouldn't want to distract from his brother getting to know his father and getting a chance at a real childhood. That said, things will of course never be complete without Harry becoming a part of their unit. And now with Harry being the Prince heir, many interesting things are sure to be coming up. The scene with Harry communicating with Severus as S.J.E. was quite bittersweet. It calmed some of the feeling of rejection I felt for Harry being thrust back to Privet Drive, showing, as it no doubt did for Harry, that he and his father DO already have a relationship of understanding and respect, though through an alias. But as you mentioned, Severus is gaining some respect for Harry, as Harry, as well, both for his work defeating Voldemort, and for his successful brewing of the Paternity potion. Anyway, sorry for the long rambling summary of events you wrote into your chapter. I am waiting, impatiently as always, for what comes next!

When Argus Filch first met Harry, he sympathised with the young wizard who showed all signs of having no remarkable magic at all. In fact, the squib could relate to the boy and therefore decided to help him. Together, the two unmagical pair work at Hogwarts where the young orphaned boy will become intrigued by a certain Potions Professor who works there.

It's so great to see an update from you! Your stories are some of the most inventive and intriguing I've ever read. I absolutely love them. And this one is no exception :)
I love that you are exploring Filch's character and perspective. Because, really, look at his treatment in general. He's normally just shoved in the corner as some unsavory and unfortunate person better left forgotten except for when he can be used for comic relief. Of course such a perspective would be great and perfect to write from, but I've never seen it done. So yay to you!
To answer your question at the end, I'm sure I'm echoing many other people, but I'd like Severus to find Harry. Mostly because his interactions with Harry have so far been just little momentary flashes, and I'm anxious for their relationship to be fleshed out a bit more. But I'm sure that whatever direction you choose to go in will be awesome! I'm eagerly awaiting the next!

After helping Draco Malfoy escape the custody of Sirius Black, Harry endures the wrath of his Godfather. When Snape comes looking for Draco, Harry tells him that Draco has run away, and that he won’t tell him where Draco is unless Snape takes Harry with him. **Note** I'm aware that some of you don't like bad!Sirius stories. Don't worry, Sirius isn't actually in the story much, however there is redemption in the end. It's not so much that he's just bad, more that he's fallen. This story is about how people fall, and how they can make it back out in the end, getting a second chance. It is NOT a character bashing story.

You always write some of the most moving and emotionally-piercing stories I have ever had the fortune to come upon. I remember exactly where I was when I first read the beginning of this--I was having trouble sleeping and felt like I was staying up with you, as you kept hammering out one amazing chapter after the next. Anyway, it's great to read more of it. You write a Harry with so many conflicted layers--can't wait to see how he and Severus continue to work through them.

After getting sixteen year old Harry out of jail over the summer, Severus Snape must deal with a number of things, including: trying to maintain a relationship with his future wife, building a relationship with his future step-son, and trying to figure out the ever-changing enigma that is Harry Potter.

I think this may be my very favorite of your stories--and that is saying something. In addition to the originality of the plot-line and your use of original characters, your control of pacing is really great. You never rush things, but clearly work through Harry's conflicts in a way so that the reader can feel his pain so clearly. I am not one who often cries while reading a work of fiction, but I found myself tearing up several times as I re-read this yesterday. To speak to this most recent chapter specifically--great job, as always. I really hope Severus can help Harry reach a level of security--in his place in their little family and in himself--that he can relax enough to work through the gritty details of what he's been through. Can't wait for more!

Severus thought he knew what to expect of the spawn of James Potter...until he walked into the Great Hall looking like Severus Snape.

This is fantastic. So glad to see another chapter! And a great one! You've really depicted their emotions so believably. Keep it up! :D

Left with partial paralysis after being tortured by Voldemort, Severus is sent to Bell Point, a secure location on the seaside owned by the Order of the Phoenix. However, he is not the only one who will be there, for Harry, refusing to express his emotions regarding Sirius’ death, has unknowingly invoked an ancient kind of magic that will force him to deal with them. Deaged to four years old, he has to contend with a bitter and broken Snape, who, like Harry, is being forced to live in a body that does not work the way it used to. These two vastly different people have beat the odds many times over, and somehow prevailed in a world that has tried time and time again to destroy them. But the challenges they now face are nothing like they’ve ever seen before. Will they rise to the occasion, or become prisoners within themselves?

Truly fantastic chapter. Everyone's individual struggles and their interactions with one another feel so organic, and you're developing the plot in a way that is truly gripping, and not the least bit overdone. Can't wait to read more!!

Author's Response: I am glad that it seems natural. It's been a bit of a struggle from time to time, so it is nice to know that it flows nicely. Thanks so much for the review!

You always manage to blow me away with your writing. I love the way you have drawn both Harry/Severus' and Hermione/Severus' relationships, developing them so believably to bring us to this point.

I also love the way your have gently melded Harry's being both a child and a teenager together. Though this concept has been attempted by many, you make it subtle and honest rather than overdone.

In light of all of what I have rambled about, you mentioned that though you hadn't planned it, Harry's calling Severus "Daddy" just came out. Which is probably why it worked so well. Your characters are so well-developed, that they really take the story places :)
    Keep it up!

Author's Response: Thank you so very much for the kind words tess4aria! I am so pleased to hear that you feel Harry's reaction to being de-aged, what with him being caught between a child and a teenager, was honest and gentle. And I am glad you enjoyed Harry's little slip. I have spent a great deal of time ruminating on how I was going to portray the characters in this fic, so I am very happy to hear that you feel it has been well done. Thank you for reviewing!

WHAT a cliffhanger, indeed. But what a perfect chapter.

The atmosphere you draw into your stories might well be my favorite thing about them. You excelled, once again. Perhaps one of the most brilliant moments was Harry's reaction to the storm outside--that facing his fear and staring at the lightning made him feel alive. Reading that, I remembered feeling the same way at times when I was younger, and very much terrified of storms after a microburst targeted my yard and traumatized me. But there is something so awe-inspiring about a natural force that can be so terrifying and beautiful, and it was very poignant, your use of it to express Harry's feelings.

    Great job!!

Author's Response: Wow, thank you so much for the feedback! I am glad you liked Harry's lightning scene. Yikes, that sounds like a pretty scary event you witnessed!! Oddly enough I've never been afraid of lightning, even though my Grandfather  has been struck before (arced through the stove pipe when he was a kid and hit him) and got his eyebrows burned off in another near miss where lightning went through his bedroom window. Tonnes of other family members have had near misses with electricity  too ... weird. Storms are so awe inspiring though, no doubt. I am so pleased to hear you liked the atmosphere. I had to work really hard at it in this chapter. I worried it would be too sudden or out of the blue when the storm hits and all the other stuff happens. Anyway, thanks again for reviewing tess4aria!

What was Potter doing, showing up at Hogwarts looking like Snape’s son? Snape is not Happy to discover that his son Ian has an older clone in Harry Potter.

Title: Chapter 14: Harry's dream 22 Aug 2013
Reviewer: tess4aria (Signed)
I'm really enjoying your story, though I must say...it is almost physically painful to see Ian and Snape's blindness and selfishness and all-around unfair treatment of Harry one chapter after the next. And yet, even though I'm just screaming inside for something to get just a little bit resolved--for just a tad bit more sense to shine through--I admire your restraint in keeping your characters firmly as you've written them. But I still hope that Harry's world can get a little brighter, soon. I know that Snape has improved a tad bit since seeing that the Dursleys left Harry, and Harry has noticed that the man has avoided teasing him on that issue, so that's good. And I guess, with the dream and all, Lily gave Harry a bit of hope, but asked that he be brave and patient. I have no doubt that Harry will do both, as that's just what Harry does. But my one plea for you is that, eventually, Snape and Ian acknowledge this. Not just their own mistaken perceptions, but the strength of Harry's character. I guess I just want a good, strong resolution (when it comes) to equal the great, angsty build-up of unfairness.
Gee--sorry for going on so long. I like the idea of having Draco befriend Harry. If nothing else, to give Snape and Ian a little more perspective--to throw them for another loop to get them out of their deep holes in the way they see Harry. And also, because Harry could use some unbiased perspective to help him feel less confused. Anyway, I hope this didn't sound like a review criticizing you. I'm always eagerly awaiting your updates--I just had to write some of my thoughts about it all.
    Anyway, can't wait for more!

    Author's Response:

I happen to be a sucker for angst, so I might tend to go a bit overboard with it sometimes. However I also love happy endings and I promise you that things will become a little bit brighter soon. Snape is defenitely going to start liking Harry over a night but he will start to see things a bit different. I do plan on making them all get along decently, though there is yet a great distance to go, so to say.

Don't worry about going long in your reviewing, I love long reviews! And it didn't sound at all like critizism. Thank you for taking the time to write down your thoughts!
