When an accident in potions causes imaginable damage to 3 different boys, perceptions start to change. One in particular of a dark and stern man, as truths start to come to light. How does one heal and move on from something like this? Who is left the task of picking up the pieces?

I totally give a pass to Severus on the Mr Longbottom thing. My impression is that it was totally non-intentional. Just falling back into old patterns. I'm happy for this update and look forward to more! Author's Response: Indeed, it fits him totally. You're not the only one, when I first started writing this chapter, it was always Neville, it didn't think of me to make it Harry. That little boy has his own special power without being aware of it, his ability to forgive and move on. I know it doesnt seem like much but with the way he was abused he is the perfect one to help Severus, especially since we know how Severus rejects help of any kind. I can just imagine how spooked Moony would be though when Neville said that lol. Good, because it wasn't intentional at all. Unlike with Harry he hadn't been saying the last name with venom and as Neville himself wasnt saying anything he didn't have a reason to really know, you know? I'm so glad you're loving the story! Your review and support means alot!
Author's Response: But it fits with Albus, the old man is just like that at times.
Although the reason he knows how to be quiet is heartbreaking.
Harry would always remember it as the summer he got to go to camp and forever escape the Dursleys. Severus would remember it as the summer he allowed himself to stop being blind. In response to the Camp challenge by JAWorley.

Harry's reasoning and circumspection is spot on for his age and background. He's also - as most abused kids are - entirely correct in his reasoning's and assumptions of the adults and politics around him. I can't wait to read more!
A great chapter and can't wait for more! Harry has a secret, and his magic helps him hide it. But all secrets come out sooner or later; they are easy to uncover if you know what to look for.

Author's Response: Hi teriwright, I'm glad you've enjoyed the story so far. Don't worry, it happens slowly, but from now on Snape starts getting better. I've just put up the next chapter, give it a try.
I can't tell if this is a condemnation of Poppy or poor reasoning for the plot. Are we bashing Poppy in this story? Illustrating yet another way Harry is being abused and neglected? Author's Response: I was not intending to bash Poppy, although that particular line was poorly phrased. The thing is, while his bruises look bad she has already ascertained that (with the possible exception of his leg) none of Harry's injuries are serious enough to particularly require assistance healing; certainly not immediately (unlike in many other abuse fics). If his injuries were worse there would be no question about healing him first, but in this case triage gives preference to his mental health. Given the opportunity, she decides that it is more important to take a few hours to find out what she can about the situation and start developing solutions, so that when she does talk to Harry she can actually answer his questions and worries. |
