When Harry finds an injured Snape on his doorstep and must hide him from the Dursleys, he has no idea that this very, very bad day will be the start of something good.
Harry and Snape are thrown together by annoying relatives, a series of strange dreams, and Voldemort's latest hunt for Harry, but their greatest challenge may well be surviving each other. This will be a long summer unless the two can find a way to work together. A slow-burn enemy-to-mentor story.
Alternate 6th summer (and part of the school year): post-OotP; ignores HBP and DH.

A response to corinacute's challenge: After Professor Snape kills Dumbledore, Harry follows him back to Snape's house intent on killing him. They engage in a battle that will end one of their lives, unless one is willing to save the other.

- I truly enjoyed reading your story. I especially liked the way Harry and Snape's relationship developed, in a way that felt realistic. Also liked the original characters you put in, as well as the invention of new entities and magic. They worked well in this story. Only thing I agree on with other reviewers are the lengthy descriptions throughout the story. Some of them could have been shortened or omitted completely. But great work on the whole!
Death has shaped Harry’s life and at times the knowledge of that can be crushing. Snape finds him alone in the Forbidden Forest, struggling with his grief.
