All Harry wants is a place where he fits in. Eleven years old and fresh of the train from Kings Cross, Harry is not going to listen to 'House politics' how ever hard Draco and Ron try to persuade him.... As far as he's concerned he's just Harry Potter, the Boy Who Wants A Chance.

This is an interesting beginning. I haven't read the story which inspired you, but I do wonder at wear you're going with this. I suppose I'll know more once Snape shows up.

Right now the story seems more Draco-centric than anything else, but I'll give you time to shape the plot and the narration.

Nice start and I'm glad you joined us on the authors' side.

    Author's Response:

True, it is Draco-centric at the moment, but the POV changes with every chapter. Each chapter is narrated by a different character, either Snape, Harry, Draco, Ron, Dumbledore, Hermione, Hagrid or McGonagall :-)

Snape is very elusive at the moment, but he does make a nice cameo in the next chapter LOL.

    thanks for reading and reviewing!

I kind of like this. It's a good set-up, drawing out the meeting between Harry and Snape. Please update soon and give us something to read over Christmas.

I can't imagine how Snape will keep an eye on Harry - I see a lot of missed sleep and headaches since Harry was far from the ideal student in the 5th book.

    Keep writing.

Love this story. When Snape makes him get out of bed, I laughed out loud in the English Department where I work.

Please write another chapter soon so we can see where these two go. Snape's announcing that he would be monitoring Harry's every move sounded so menacing and grim that I could see the fear on Harry's face.

    Great job!

Au: Second Year. A little bit of healthy snooping reveals some old documents that will have Harry's life quickly spiralling out of control and have him questioning: Who Am I?

I like this. It's cute, but with an ominous feeling.

    Keep writing

Author's Response: Oh yeah ominious stuff is in the pipelines... poor Harry.... the plot will thicken soon. Promise. :)

Snape punishes Harry for the debacle at the Shrieking Shack, and gets far more than he bargained for.

Glad to see another chapter on this story - I've missed them. I liked this scene, short, sweet, and rich. My dad used to read to me at night when I was little, so I have a fondness for people who read to help children go to sleep.

Please write more soon and write more!

I did not find this story until recently, and I have to say I blushed when you mentioned me in the second chapter. I'm glad you decide to post - I really like this story so far. I do get tired of all the abusive Durleys stories, and Harry seems very determined and out-spoken in this chapter, something I like seeing within reason. I think Snape will have his hands full.

The Leprechaun gold was a nice touch - I wonder if Wizards trick Muggles with that gold all the time. Probably another job for Ministry. And I really liked the transfer of guardianship done magically - that was neat to see rather than just a bunch of papers being signed.

And Snape's thoughts about sulking wasting on him were hilarious. I can't wait to see where you take this story because it rocks.

    Author's Response:

    I didn't mean to embarass you :)

Harry can be hard to portray-- he's feisty and stubborn, but that can translate into way too bratty pretty easily. Especially because he was so recently punished-- it's hard to judge how stroppy he would be after going through that, especially for the first time and with Snape.

I'm seeing the gold as a rarity, because, if nothing else, I doubt wizards want magical stuff floating freely among the Muggles. It also seems like most average wizards are nice enough sorts, and that was a nasty trick (grin)...

    Thank you for reviewing.

Yes, I think it's time for another chapter. I'm enjoying this story. I'm so busy writing my thesis and my application to the PhD program and finishing my novel and working on a conference paper, I have no time to write fanfic. So, it's great for me to read others' work and get a good story when I really, really need one.

Hope the muse leads you to write again. And soon.

As the clock strikes midnight on Harry Potter's fourteenth birthday, the reflection of a strange boy appears in Harry's window. What unusual news does he bring? And why does this stranger appear to be none other than Harry himself?

Oh, this was kind of scary. I like where this is going, I think, but the reflection thing freaked me out. I don't like the idea of looking in a mirror or window and having your reflection take on a life of its own.

That being said, please keep writing. I look forward to seeing the progression of this story. And once my internet is up and running again, I hope to write and review more.

And I like a mean!Snape in all his snarkiness. So much fun . . .

    Author's Response:

Yeah, the idea of seeing someone else as a reflection would freak me out too, but, I think Harry's unusual in more ways than one! Funny you should say that about Snape, but I'm thinking about basing this one (at the beginning of the story at least) from your Snape in 'A Time and A Place to Grow' - great story! I promise there will be no plagiarism or direct quotes.

Thank you for the feedback, I hope to write more soon...

Harry wants more than anything to be more like his father. In an attempt to change himself something goes wrong and he ends up in the care of his hated Potions Master. Can they form the bond Harry has longed for his whole life?

How cute was Harry as a puppy? I stumbled across this story and thought I would give it a try and I'm not at all disappointed.

Off to read the next chapter

Severus Snape hates Harry Potter. Nothing will ever change that. Nothing. Not even the boy’s sudden intrusion in his life. Or that cheeky smile. Or that all too innocent look. Or the sudden shift in his relationship with the Potter whelp. Not even those green eyes. No, nothing will ever change Severus’s hatred for Harry Potter – no matter how fond of him he was becoming. An eventual Snape adopts Harry story. Beginning in Harry’s first year.

I really like the angle of this story - told from Snape's point of view. The whole alcohol characterization felt genuine and compelling, a result of an addictive personality trying to cope and something I've not seen in fanfic before in this situation. I like the law elements of the adoption where you blend Muggle and Wizard circumstances together to create a unique perspective where different obstacles pose different problems to the two main characters. Thanks for sharing this story with us.

Author's Response: You're very welcome for sharing this story. It was so much fun exploring this aspect of what adoption may be like in the Wizarding World and it is my first time exploring a character with an alcohol problem. I'm glad you have enjoyed it, you're words are very encouraging. Thanks again!
