A Raven looks on as Harry gets a hair cut in the back yard. This Raven is no ordinary Raven. It is Severus Snape. Sent to check on Harry by request of Dumbledore, he finds a discovers something about Harry that he never thought would happen to the 'Golden Boy'

The man leans over the table and presses the cup of tea into Harry’s hand. “Here, have some more. Perhaps it’ll make you feel better.”
Harry doubts it but accepts the cup nonetheless and takes a few mouthfuls. Moments after he’s swallowed the bitter brew he begins to feel cold and his vision blurs.

Sometimes safety takes on a strange meaning, but Harry always knew cupboards were safe. He just never knew that he would one day associate Snape along with cupboards and the safety and sense of security they always brought him.

- At first I didn't know who was drinking chamonille with Harry, but then it hit me. Hard. It was Lockhart, wasn't it? If it's Harry's second year at Hogwarts, and he freak out before DADA he, I mean Lockhart, is the only option.
Snape = safe... it shocked me, but when you think about it, everything fits.
Good story, I enjoyed reading it. Even given the nature of it.
Albus Dumbledore was a master manipulator. He knew what was best, and he knew how to get it, and how to get you to accept it. He always had the last say, and always got his way, which would eventually become your way (whether you liked it or not). And sometimes, sometimes, you wouldn’t even know that you had been manipulated.

- sometimes even the player gets played - this is the best summary I can think of. Dumbledore is manipulative, even if no one sees this. And you showed that he, too, can be maneuvered into what he believes is his own idea. ;)
Severus rescues Harry from the Dursleys, but it is too late.
