Pfft, Cinnamon. Well... it goes with the plant theme and it's unique! Actually... looking it up. False Cinnamon is called Cassia. That's... actually a really pretty name. And plant/potions/latin themed to boot! Depending on the context, the name can either mean 'Champion' or 'Empty/vain'. Gah... Ok, I'm just really getting into the naming game now. Then again, most every name in the HP series has some two/three/more layers of depth. Except Harry... JK just likes the name. (Even Padfoot. Did you know that's an alternative name for the Grim?)

- Roman version of the goddess Nike. That really should have been something to celebrate, especially since it was actually a name of her own for once, and not the name of a fantasy child that never actually happened. But... they're like magnets with the negative sides facing each other. At least Victoria has tried, though her efforts have just been met with more pushing away. I wish that he would stop pushing her away at every turn. That is beyond being 'prickly', down to being emotionally abusive. I just hope he learns before something snaps and hurts her or any possibility of them even being able to be in the same room for any length of time.

- I love Flitwick. I have yet to ever see him not take a student under his wing. Maybe he could have some more interaction with Victoria? Someone to talk to that she wouldn't stress over getting in trouble with. And maybe he could help with her little writing issue (I bet he's already thinking up solutions for her). A little socializing without Snape breathing down her neck might be something she needs. Minerva's fine, great and all, but she really needs a friend, a confidant, at this point, not another disciplinarian. Not another person that has expectations, just someone to listen for when she's ready to talk. And I mean actually -listen- when she finally decides to. Someone to work -with- her, not 'what's best' for her. (Yes, in the end, I think what she really needs at this point is a hug.)

- What a ride it was. Now, to that fateful school year, right? Sixth year really was one full of changes for Harry and all of Hogwarts, I just wonder now how that's going to change here with Lily and Jilly added into the chaos. And maybe a little student-teacher aid in the DADA classroom to come? After all, Harry's actually had more experience teaching DADA than the average Defense teacher, Severus might need a little help from the 'real' teacher from the previous year.

- Welp, Dumbledore has his irrefutable proof of abuse now, doesn't he? The magic of a parent's love and the lengths they will go to for the safety of their child. It's been known to raise the dead before, why not the half-dead in the hospital. And it truly is indeed magic, one that even muggles can tap into when in need. I just hope nobody's -stupid- enough to try to pin Vernon's death and Dudley's assault on Severus. Because those are not muggles, they're monsters.

- I know it's an innocent gesture, borne of goodwill, but I can't help but to flinch and think of Tom's diary instead. I'm just really glad to see that Harry now has the room he deserves. Now, is there an anti-brat ward on the door to keep his half-brother out? Otherwise I see some problems occurring in the future in regards to the whole -respecting each other's space- thing. (...Aand... he's back. Sigh, I had hoped we'd gotten rid of the brat and his mother. Oh, well, I guess we need a foil anyway.)

- "Potter, stay behind and close the door. I wish to speak to you about your performance in class today." *waits for door to close* *Hugs Harry and doesn't let go* "You did well today, my son. If you have no plans this coming Friday, I wish to have dinner in my quarters with you." A little OOC, but something I can see them working towards. To the rest of the school, it would be 'detention', but those two would know better. "Now go on, I believe you have Defense next and I will not be writing out an excuse for you."
This was definitely a waking up chapter. Severus was getting the clue that Harry's home life wasn't all roses, but going into his mind and seeing even a portion of the physical effects, that really woke him up to the reality that his abuse was -a common occurrence- and something he was honestly used to and almost came to expect, in one form or another, from every adult that he came into contact with. (And the few that don't, confuse and scare the shit out of him, but he treats them like gold. (The Weasleys (sans Percy) and Hagrid Primarily.))
About halfway through the dreams, I had a thought and I started praying that they stopped before Harry got to school-age abuses. I don't think his body could have delt with a second round of Basilisk venom. Even pseudo-venom. Even as painful as it was, I'm glad that Severus was able to pull Harry out when he did. And, with seeing what his past was like 'first-hand', I suggest some positive-reinforcement touch therapy from now on. Because, really, very few people have ever touched him without the intent to harm. (I imagine that is why Hermione tackle-hugs Harry every chance she gets. Because she doesn't do it to Ron, I've noticed.)
Author's Response: Ya know, I wondered what would happen if the curse progressed that far when I was writing the chapter, but decided to cut it off before the memories of Hogwarts. The curse would have lasted too long and it would just be a drag.
Hmm I can't really see Snape easily giving out free hugs lol, but yeah maybe they can work towards something along those lines. Especially now that Severus has seen Harry's home life.

- Oh, that's lovely. At least when he finally succumbed to his injuries, Severus was on hand instead of Harry being alone... or worse, with his 'little brother' of more likely to kick him in the cracked ribs and laugh than get help. More'n likely the brat did something during their little 'wrestling match' anyway. Oh, Severus is going to get a wake-up call when he sees what was under those glamours.
