It's year six and Harry struggles with the visions he's inherited from Voldemort. Dumbledore is reaching the end of his time and needs to ensure someone will take care of Harry after the headmaster is gone. An incident in the Forbidden Forest where Snape must care for an injured Harry without using magic sets in motion far reaching changes in their lives and in the magical world.

Alternative Year Six story written originally from 2004-2005 under the username GreenGecko. Canonical (as much as possible) through OotP.

    Love all the action!the fight with Malfoy was really good.
    An aside, a friend in my dance troupe picked Kali as a stage name. She is the sweetest,most soft spoken, understated woman you would ever meet.

    Oh Harry is such a honey. That spontaneous hug , oh my heart. His protective nature of Snape with Obelinsky was lovely. Snape's summation of caring for Harry was diplomatic.

    I loved the boys getting Snape to help Harry so they could go to bed.
    Was this chapter written before or after the bonus chapter with the prank that was earlier? They feel similar.

    This chapter was written well before. The extra chapter was a prompt from the auction winner so it ended up being a bit of a reprise on this section. I did modify this section a bit on editing to take into account that this wasn't the first go-around.

    Working the whole trip into one chapter, nice. I wonder if Harry actually had deep conversation with Penelope, he would in fact connect with her. Or is she very nice but not really deep?

    That was my Joycean section. It's actually all one scene. LOL.  I was trying to convey that exhausting continuous movement of travel that even sitting down at a cafe or even sleeping doesn't really stall.

    Interesting way of assessment. The part with Nagini was my favorite.
    "Harry kept looking at his parent" was this changed from "guardian". I don't see your Harry mentally referring to Snape as his parent. Severus, Dad or even father but parent is used a lot. Was it to make a changed feeling in the relationship? It never reads " Severus looked at his son or child"
    I was just curious as it feels different from previous times reading this.

    I started shifting Harry's perception to try it on for size, since in the previous version, like you are remembering, it was just guardian all the way down. I was thinking there'd be an evolution and then a switch to "parent" but on a re-read I'm not sure now. You'd think it wouldn't be so hard to pick a lane on this, but there are moments, like the one you mention of higher emotion, where I left a few of them in when I was re-re-editing.

    Snape is being pretty perceptive regarding Tonks.

    Snape's been cheating. Harry thinking on Tonks is not Harry Occluding his thoughts very well.
