Summary: Posted for Ebbtide

During the later part of first year, young Harry has had the companionship and protection of a big, black dog (Sirius in his animagus form). During this same stretch of time, Harry has been growing closer to a certain Potions Master, who finally adopts the boy.

He tells Harry, though, that he may keep the dog, but he'll have to be neutered. Unfortunately, Sirius missed this conversation...

Summary: Snape decides to remove his childhood enemy's blood from Harry in order to reclaim a part of Lily. He uses either a spell, a potion or combination of the two to suit his ends in removing and replacing James Potter's blood with his own.

Must Have:
  1. Lily in some form giving Snape permission to do this.
  2. Snape changing Harry's name and Harry being called by this name throughout the story
  3. Confrontation between Potter, Harry and the new self with Potter losing.
  4. Some time spent at Spinner's End
  5. One of the following:
    • Good but misguided Dumbledore/Evil Voldermort
    • Evil Dumbledore/Less evil Voldermort
    • Evil Dumbledore/Good Tom(Voldemort)
  6. Snape bringing Harry over to the side of Voldermort.

Bonus Points
  • Snape convincing Harry that his life as a Potter has been misremembered in some fashion or that he was always his son.
  • Harry willing or unwittingly going along with what Snape is doing
  • Either potions, spells, charms or other means being used to keep Harry from doing his best in classes

Summary: What if Harry hadn't pulled Gryffindor's sword out of the hat in CoS? What if he had pulled a weapon only a Slytherin could use?

Must Have:
  1. A frustrated or angry Dumbledore
  2. Resorting (for Harry's protection or something along those lines)
  3. Snape changing Harry's robes from Gryffindor to Slytherin
  4. A dulling potion (to keep Harry functioning only at a certain level)
  5. McGonagall protecting Harry by bringing him to Snape
  6. Harry stating that all he wanted was to survive

Bonus points if...
  • Harry states that he had been told by someone before he was sorted that if he went to Slytherin he'd be killed. Who would kill him is up to the writer.
  • Draco/Harry friendship forming

Vernon Snaps/Dobby Arrives Early by Romanticide

Summary: Dobby tells Harry not to go to Hogwarts before First Year, drops a cake on Uncle Vernon's guests and leaves. After Vernon's deal is ruined with the Masons, he snaps and beats Harry to the brink of death. Albus sends Severus to get him when he doesn't show up and his letters are still unopened (Hagrid never showed up.) Harry is rescued by Severus,and sorted into Slytherin after he heals up.
  • Harry gets two/three familiars -- Hedwig, a snake or a cat.
  • Pettigrew is caught by either one of Harry's pets or Severus' pet.
  • Harry gets in a fight with Ron Weasley after Lily being called names, etc.
  • Obvious parallels of Tobias and Vernon.
  • Severus finds out Harry is his son -- Dumbledore never told him.
  • Severus helps Harry adjust to writing with Quills while he is recovering
