Reviews For Filling the Void
That conversation at the end was so well written. I could feel the pain and bitterness from both of them, once Severus understood of course. I'm not sure if you meant for Snape to be sad for Harry's loss or also for his own but I could feel both. I wish they could both get it back but of course that's futile. Do you think Harry would ever pick up this self-deprecatingness of Snape's? I kind of want him to address his comments about "why anyone would want to be his little boy" and stuff he's said previously about his lack of skills as a guardian/father but Harry's so insecure himself at the moment I'm not sure he'd notice. It's something that bugs me though because I feel like you presented Snape doing this great and realistic job of it and he should know it. Harry alluded to that to Arthur before so we know he can see it. This is really going back but I've reread lately and wondered: will we ever hear more of Luka or his parents? It would be fun for Harry to meet them maybe, or to see Snape with friends. Anyways, thanks for another great chapter. Take care, and I'm looking forward to the next one! Author's Response: First, thank you for such a lovely long review. Regarding the end conversation -- I meant for Harry to feel his own loss of a childhood, Snape to feel a loss for his own childhood as well, but also feel a loss for the children he never had himself. I don't think Harry will be the one to point out Snape's self deprecation. You're right -- it's certainly there, but I think Harry is a little young yet to really conceive that adults can be insecure as well. I'm not sure we'll ever hear more of Luka or his parents. They were more of a backstory, really, and I'm not a big fan of OCs in fanfiction so I tend not to write them. But who knows where this story will go.
Author's Response: Thank you! More will come...
Beautifully written, and just so perfectly possible for Harry to feel that way. I hope that Snape can give Harry everything that he's missed. Poor Harry. Severus is really good for him, and has come a long way. I can't wait for the next chappie. Author's Response: I'm bad for the tissue-ness. This is very much an angsty series, because that's the place Harry is in. And, if it wasn't clear, he's also very angry. I was actually trying to make Severus a little "thick" regarding Harry's needs in this chapter. Apparently I didn't succeed, lol. Thanks for the review!
I loved that Severus is giving Harry a birthday celebration and it was so sweet when Harry woke him up early to go shopping cause he was so excited. I could just see Harry falling asleep in Severus' bed, too, lol. And I loved the scene with little Icarus, and how it made Harry so upset to see him with a loving parent who takes care of him, and know that he was denied that. I loved that Severus was so understanding and how he took care of Harry and tried to reassure him...that was lovely! Looking forward to more. Author's Response: You certainly hit on all the salient points of the chapter. They really are still trying to understand each other. Although I'm starting to wonder if I didn't quite get across how much of a struggle that conversation was -- everyone thinks it's so cute, lol. Thanks once again for reviewing!

Author's Response: I'm very behind in responding to reviews...Oops. Better late than never I suppose. Anyway, I'm very glad you liked the scene with Icarus. It was the first idea I had for this fic, actually.
Author's Response: I'll do my best -- this one was a long time coming!
I loved the last scene, where Harry and Snape try to talk. And I can't wait for the birthday party. Author's Response: Yes, they *tried* to talk. They still have quite a bit of trouble understanding each other, though. Glad you liked it. Thanks for the review.
Author's Response: Hmm. Glad you liked it but now I worry that they're *too* cute, lol. Thanks for the review!
I really love this story and Harry's and Severus's relationship. And I liked the scene with Arthur giving Harry marshmallows when he shared a thought.
