About me:

I'm an *insatiable* bibliophile--I started scribbling fanfics in spare notebooks when various canon couldn't keep up with my too-fast reading. Then--I discovered Fanfiction, On The Internet...!!!! ::drooling happily over my keyboard:: OBOY!! I hadn't known it was called fanfiction; hadn't ever shared a word with anybody else...finally got the gumption up to post something a few years ago (on another site), and discovered there are folks who *like* my writing. Wheeeee! And even better, now I have all these un-known stories just begging to be read, too! Heh.

I'm not really into LiveJournals, or chat-type sites; I just log on enough to download fanfics to read on my bus between routes; or sometimes to post my own stuff. I drive an hour one-way each day just to drive a school bus all day long...I MUST be Crazy. ,'=}

    I like this take on things! Better than canon, actually--though to be fair, something written for pre-teens and teens really can't be all that deep, or most kids just won't like it, they'll find it "too boring". I've seen how often common beliefs are not true in real life, though, and I really like stories that come at things from different angles.

    I especially like your take on Slytherin! Of course, that could be 'cause I tend to be more Slytherin than any other House...and Snape's my favorite character. >=]

    Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I'm really glad that this backstory has received such a positive response; what you say about common beliefs is very true- most people seldom look at what they're told critically and, when you do the research, the conclusions which one can draw are often very different.     Ooooooh! That was good! My absolute favorite line is the one near the end, where Harry realizes:

    "I might not have thought myself better than everyone else but I did think that my point of view was right and anyone who stopped me doing what I wanted was wrong."

    That is SO-O-O perfect to describe canon!Harry!! It's exactly the thing about his character that just set my teeth on edge, and has me agreeing with Snape's assessment of him. I haven't seen it described quite so perfectly before! =]

I think this is probably Harry's greatest character flaws (not that one can blame him too much- it's a common childhood trait) and I'm really flattered and pleased that you think I described it well. Harry coming to this realisation, I think, is essential for him to mature and, thereby, see Snape as he is, a flawed man who tried his best under exceptionally difficult circumstances. Thanks for the review

    Awww...! Snape being sweet--in a very Slytherin way. =} Very well done. The Slytherins embodied their House (at least as I see it); characters had flaws that weren't blown out of proportion to ridiculous levels; and "fixing" the friendships wasn't too "magically" easy to be believed--and everybody felt in-character. I can't wait for your next story!
