What if Severus had been forced to become a Death Eater by his father? What if he had always been a spy? What if Lily Evans Potter and Severus Tobias Snape had remained friends up to her death? What if Severus had been Lily's choice for Harry's Godfather? What if he took him in? This is the story of The-Boy-Who-Lived that everyone wanted told. The rescue from the Dursleys, the discovery of magic, and the thawing out of the coldest heart to touch the readers of fanfiction worldwide.

Interesting start. I don't think I read a story where an adult had accidental magic. Anyways, keep up the good work!

On the night of October 31st, when Voldemort showed up to kill Harry, he found that two of his Death Eaters were already there; traitors. That night left two boys orphaned and seeing no other option, Dumbledore placed both boys on the Dursley's doorstep. Draco and Harry grow up bonding as brothers for they're the only other person they've got to rely on. Come their year at Hogwarts, they're both sorted into Gryffindor. But Severus Snape watches them...will he be able to take them in when they need him; his godson and a boy that should have been his son?

A rather interesting concept. The closest I've seen in terms of concept was a story called "Magical Duo" or something like that though the other kid was an original character. Anyways, keep up the good work!

    Author's Response:

    Omega13a,

I'm happy you like the idea. I have never heard of that story, perhaps I ought to check it out sometime? I didn't know if this idea was that unique or not, I'm glad to hear that it is rather. Thank-you, I will.

Harry comes to school missing one eye, and pratically mute. He is sorted into Slytherin. Severus Snape dislikes all things Potter. Can he get over his hatred to see the truth?

The chapter is just one big paragrapher...

Author's Response: Sorry about that. Sometimes it happens when I copy and paste from a Word Pad onto the P&S site. I hope you liked this story? TftR and thanks for pointing it out for me.

Harry Potter starts Hogwarts with high hopes of finding himself a real family, and holds tightly to this hope despite the torture his new Potion's Master seems intent on putting him through. Can Harry's hope hold out long enough to see his dream through?

Good chapter. Just one question about the blood adoption. Wouldn't it start to alter Harry's appearance? I mean if you change a person's DNA, the whatever in their cells would have to follow a new set of instructions that control things like skin pigment, hair color, the shape of hair follicles, etc. Realistically it wouldn't be some spectacular instantaneous transformation, but something gradual. I know, I can be such a nitpicker (and a nerd that says things nobody understands, including myself :P). Anyways, keep up the good work.

Author's Response: Typically the blood adoptions I've read about in HP Fan Fiction do not involve change in appearance.  Probably something to do with the way the magic works.  They're not actually changing DNA, just giving each other a bit of the other's blood so that the blood intermixes, and then the magic forms a bond between the two participants as that of a family so that they feel connected to each other in some way over time and perhaps loyal over a period of time.

At the beginning of Harry's first year at Hogwarts, the staff realize that he needs someone to help him.

Definitely make a sequel. It will be a sin if you don't.

    Author's Response:
Thank you very much for your review and for liking my story. I will try to start the sequel soon. LL

Darkness swallowed Severus's childhood and is threatening to engulf Harry's. Will the man recognize himself in the boy before history repeats itself? [Generally short chapters due to (almost) daily updates]

The ending was funny in a gross way. However, when ever I hear or read "Oh dear." I think a commercial that aired one supper bowl for Career Builder. Yes. I have a weird brain and I don't know why I think the way I do. Anyways, keep up the good work and I'm glad Dumbledore is not stopping Harry from being removed from Petunia's care.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. I don't think I've seen that advert but, then again, if it was for the Super Bowl, I guess I wouldn't have lol! I'm glad you're enjoying the story

Lucius does spoil Draco but at least Lucius knows how to say no. It must have been difficult for him to admit he agrees with Dumbledore about students not being allowed to keep cobras or any other dangerous species of snakes as pets. Anyways, keep up the good work!

Author's Response: I imagine that it would pain Lucius to agree with Dumbledore about anything lol! However, his son is always his first priority and Lucius will do anything to keep him happy and safe- even if it means endorcing Dumbledore's rules.

After looking at your replies to your reviews, your statement about Harry not being able to speak Parseltongue sounds like a temporary problem. After all, Hissy can just "install" a Parseltongue-English translator on Harry which I have feeling Hissy is going to do because Hissy needs a way to communicate with Harry without the help of someone else.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review; yes, you're right, however it is slightly more complex because Harry's mind isn't as elastic as Severus's; it's akin to a strong-man, who has been weight training twice a day for the last ten years, lifting a car and a young child who has done no weight-training trying to lift a car. Harry doesn't have the mental muscles or elasticity to take the Parseltongue-English translator, which is a huge packet of information, in one go. Therefore, he will need to re-learn it in bite sized chunks.

Chocolate and coffee are actually poisonous to humans as well. The only reason we don't get sick and die like dogs do is that are bodies are larger and can handle more (if you ever drank something high in caffeine and were trembling afterwards, that is one of the first symptoms of caffeine poisoning). Its scary that the amount us humans can ingest safely is enough to get a cat or dog really sick if not kill them. Severus and Harry are just lucky they discovered what Toby ate when they did...

    Author's Response:

Thanks for the review. A large number of substances are poisonous in high enough quantity, including oxygen. Naturally, different animals have different sensitivities, which is why dogs shouldn't be given 'human food'- not because they don't deserve it but because it's not always safe for them. Toby is useful for Harry because, unlike Reggie, who is bidable, with simple needs, and Hedwig, who is pre-trained and independant, Toby a. requires training, b. has complex needs and c. doesn't understand what is good for him; like most dogs, he'd happily eat himself into an early grave. Therefore, Harry must learn to be responsible for someone other than himself.
