Being sent to stay in a psychiatric ward at St. Mungo’s isn’t exactly the most enjoyable way to spend a summer, so naturally, Harry’s pretty angry when he finds out that’s his destination, regardless of whether or not it might be good for him. Facing a full summer of being cut off from the Order’s plans, Harry’s even taken to envying Snape, because at least Snape knows what is going on. But when Harry arrives at St. Mungo’s and discovers that a fire has changed his destination from the teen ward to the adult ward, everything is turned upside down. Enter his roommate - suicidal, depressed, and none other than Severus Snape. They are both willing to bet that their summer will be a total disaster, and maybe it will be, but even the surest of gamblers are not always right.

- Wow. I just love how realistic and believable your writing is, I went through a time in my life when I was younger when I felt like I was going to die, just like how you described Snape's life, and I was like, "Yes, that's exactly how it felt." I didn't know how, or when, but I felt like I was going to die soon, I even wrote out a list of small things I wanted to do before I died. I wasn't being abused, but my life wasn't going anywhere, I never left the house, never had any friends, and each day was the same, sad, bleakness I'd come to expect. Nothing to look forward to, and I was just waiting to die.
Thank you for putting it more eloquently than I could, and thank you for writing this chapter! It was terrific.

Every time I see an update from you I do a little dance, ^_^ It's just SO GOOD, and you care about making the characters so real and true to the way JKR wrote them, it's awesome.
Loving that Harry opened up a little, even though it was difficult for him to do so, and the fact that Snape certainly gained some trust by being patient and listening to him instead of snarking--I'm proud of him. *Grin*

Depressed from the death of his godfather and back to school from the worse summer he ever had, Harry is on the brink of death with no will to live. He just wants to succumb to the darkness knowing his parents are on the otherside, but someone won't let him. Why does he care when he never did before..or did he?
