With a strange potion, new location and the odd Muggle Studies Professor along for the ride, Harry's in for an interesting summer, but why is Snape here? Dumbledore had better pray he gets all three back in one piece! Humor, Angst, No Mary Sues, No Romance, no real plot.

I really loved that interaction between Snape and Harry. That was too cute. I love how they negotiated and Snape softened up a bit, without losing any of his authority or leverage. That was really sweet. Great chapter Jan, I can't wait for the next. Oh, and I loved the last line. How much trouble could one small, messy-haired boy get into? This is Harry Potter, we're talking about. You know it's strange but I don't usually like a de-aged Harry, and yours is one of the few I read, but I'm really enjoying this story. I can't wait till he goes back to normal though, and I hope that he can still be cared for by Snape and Hoppity. I think that they balance each other out and give Harry what he needs. Okay, so I'm rambling. It's early in the morning and I'm getting ready for work. So, please update soon. I'm dying to see the "block" party! Hee hee! Author's Response: Thank you Pandora! I have to agree with what you said - that the story flows better if you don't have to wait as long to read it. I think that an update every other day, or couple of days works best, but unfortunately I am not that fast of a writer. :) I think that not obsessing about the chapter and worrying about errors was slowing me down, as well as making the chapters so long. I would write half of it and then put it away for awhile (sometimes a long while) when just posting that I had was long enough to be a shorter chapter, even though there wasn't a natural end to it. And then I would look, and look at it when in actuality, I don't make that many errors to make it unreadable. So I'm just going to keep trucking along. I'm glad that you like my deaged Harry. I think that it is very difficult to keep both Harry and Snape in character in this genre of story. Don't worry, Harry will be able to go to both Snape and Hoppity once he is reaged. Spending a summer with people just makes you close to them, and they don't really have a choice. :)
Aw, poor Harry. Snape is so strict, but I think that he was really scared for Harry's safety. I know that it is hard for Harry to understand, especially at that young age, but Snape's worry is coming out with his temper. He won't admit to himself that he's beginning to care for Harry, even a little. That was really sweet though, despite Snape's rough demeanour. I guess the family meeting is probably going to be centered around what Snape regards as Harry's lack of regard for his own safety, and what he conceives as Hoppity always undermining his authority. Poor Harry. I wonder if Snape will soften up a bit after that, or if Harry will still be grounded. That bee sting must have really hurt the poor kid though! I'm so anxious for the next update Jan. I love this story, as you know. Author's Response: Thanks so much Pandora! :) I love to read your comments, they always help me see things in the story that I miss or overlook, and help me plan out the next chapter sometimes. It's funny because I didn't plan a family meeting, but Snape apparently decided that it was needed. I was almost done with the chapter, and then he had to say that! It was a surprise for me too! He probbaly wants to bring up the issues you just raised, as well as some others. Snape pretty much sticks to his word, so if he says that Harry is grounded, then Harry is grounded. Hoppity's nature seems to try and undermine that though, so we'll see what happens. I'd like to go back and edit the scene with the bee sting a bit - that part just wrote itself too, and I didn't do much more than just write it. It seems like we could milk a few more sensations from it. But that probably won't happen as it's more importnat to move forward and have another update! :) Thanks for reading and for telling me what you liked and noticed in the chapter!
I was very surprised and pleased at the nature of Snape's family meeting. I am actually shocked that he thought of laying out the rules for Harry this way, and not jumping down his throat immediately, but decided to list the rules clearly, for both Harry and Hoppity, so that there would be no surprises and Harry would know what was expected of him. Snape is turning out to be a good guardian, and I love how the rules were all based around Harry's safety and welfare. Too cute. Author's Response: Thank you so much for all your wonderful comments. :) Snape surprised me as well. Not only did Snape call a family meeting, but he was decent at it too! I liked that there were rules for Harry's guardians as well. I think that was Hoppity's doing, and perhaps Harry. He seems to be getting his Gryffindor spirit back. I'll tell you a secret that after this chapter I plan to bring the rules back in the sequel. It was just too good. Thanks for your review!
I feel bad for the poor snidget, but Snape is such a manipulator-a true Slytherin. Harry was so adorable; leaning into Snape's shoulder like that. I think that Snape is starting to really care for Harry. Aw, Harry really needs a strong male figure like that, and Snape is becoming more and more fatherly. It's very sweet. It was so nice that Hoppity made such declarations of love for Harry like that. Harry is beginning to feel treasured and loved. The poor kid deserves to have people that will love and protect him, and have his best interests at heart. It certainly is a change from when he was REALLY six years old. He's getting proper food, and Snape is making certain he's eating healthy food. It's too bad that he didn't have such loving guardians, the FIRST time around. I can't wait to see how Snape handles being considered a "parent", and handling a Parent-Teacher Conference. Great job Jan. Author's Response: Yes, the poor Snidget. :) I'm sure that it will be okay, although it's a wild animal. Maybe Harry will one day become a keeper of the endangered birds on a preserve. Snape is definitely becoming more fathery. it will be interesting to see how he acts when they get back to Hogwarts, and when Harry is "grown" again. Thanks for all your comments! I treasure reading them every chapter. :)
It was amazing and I love how Snape is beginning to care for Harry. I hope he gets the information that he needs soon, and hope that he can protect Harry from the Dursleys. So excited when Star told me that you updated. Can't wait to see if Harry opens up to Snape finally. Here's hoping, so that Harry can finally get the family that he deserves! Author's Response: Ha! "Never give up! Never surrender!" I think that Harry is repressing his memories of the Dursleys by this point. The potion does that some, but I think Harry doesn't like to think of them when he is away. With things going so well, I don't know how easy it will be for Snape to get that information. But Harry won't be going back to them this summer at least. :) Answer to Snowball Challenge.

What I love about this story is that you've kept Snape in character. I hate when Snape is too mushy too fast. Harry overhears a conversation he wasn't supposed to, but is that really a bad thing?

You shouldn't take it down and as a matter of fact, you should write more of it. I love him dumping water on Snape, but can't believe that Snape didn't murder him! lol Snape's Confession is the sequel to Lost Perspective. Harry's revenge led to Snape being brutally tortured at the hands of Voldemort. During Snape's convalescence, he and Harry try to reconcile themselves to their relationship. Harry learns far more about the Potions master and his family than he had bargained for.

I don't know whether to feel pity for Harry or anger at his lack of remorse.
Great chapter like usual. Off to the next one. |
