Hi, I'm Jan. :D I love Snape and Harry fics, and just mentor fics in general. I first started Potions and Snitches (P&S) as a safe place to find Snape & Harry gen fics without stumbling into Snape and Harry slash (aka Snarry, or HP/SS).

Fandoms that I like to read fanfiction of include: Star Trek, Star Wars, Kung Fu : The Legend Continues, Dragonball Z, Stargate SG1, Batman, Angel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. I like Gen and Mentor fics mostly. I love hurt/comfort, angst, whump, drama, raw emotions, and vivid descriptions best.

I know how to make and edit graphics, icons, and layouts (html and css). I am a master web searcher. XD

My dreams? One day I'd like to be able to run up a mountain effortlessly, or at least easily. :) I'd like to see Potions and Snitches host every single good Snape and Harry Gen fic there ever existed. I'd like to have people who post here get 100 reviews a chapter. I'd like active-to-the-bursting challenges and contests. I want the site to be a great, fun place that readers of Snape and Harry fics loved and knew as active.

    Such a sweet chapter. I'm so glad that Harry got the things he needed, a place to stay in the summer and a mind healer. I love the connection and Snape and Harry are developing.

    The only thing I noticed that needs to be fixed is Percy Weasley's name. You listed it as Purcey or something.

It's Harry Potter's first year teaching DADA at Hogwarts under Headmaster Snape. It's a job that makes him feel good and put together like an adult, until a student comes to tell him something about her home life that takes Harry right back to his own troubled childhood.

    Ahhh this is such a unique and new situation and premise. I absolutely adore Headmaster Snape taking care of things. His insight, doing what needs to be done. And when Harry arrived at the Dursleys' and Snape was already there?! Ahhhh. Genius. I adore your Snape, and your Harry is so vulnerable while still being strong and in character. Fantastically done.

    And then when Snape showed up at the Weasleys?! AHHHH! That was SOOOO unexpected! And just to check on Harry. That is so sweet. It's like Snape cares. Does having Harry under his employ make Snape feel even more responsible for him?

    Snape is being so understanding in this story. I absolutely love it. Empathetic language and validation and all.

    Harry's humor is intact and spot-on. The part about being a pothead was hilarious. I loved Snape warning him, and making him go back to the castle.

    There are so many clever things in this story. So many great descriptions. The emotions and pace are spot on.

    The content matter is very difficult to experience in real life. You absolutely are right and I hope that you had a Snape in your life to tell you so.

    EMDR therapy would really help this too. It helps reprocess traumatic events and it feels like it either shrinks or fades them away, or allows them to be returned to the bookcase and not constantly being reopened in front of your face. I highly recommend you try it. I did it and it really helped the memories I reprocessed.

    I don't normally give out scores of 10, but you got one.

    There were a couple of typos, and a couple of places where I wasn't sure who was speaking. i'll post them here so you can make corrections if you choose to.

    Who is saying this?

    “He was old enough to know what he was doing-”

    “And you should be old enough to know not to get involved in all of this business!”

    It's hard to tell. Is it the Dursleys? As a flashback?

    And who is he talking about here?

    “I think abuse is a really strong word for the situation at hand. And I know, I know, everyone who’s abused says that but like, it’s… I mean they care about me and they don’t try to hurt me.

    Is Harry talking about the Dursley here? Did they care about Harry? They did try to hurt Harry mentally, all the time with his pitiful birthday presents and leaving him behind when going out, forcing him to wear hand-me-downs, and making him live in a cupboard, right?

    yes! This is fantastic. I love how mature Snape acted, how he first hugged Harry as soon as he pulled Hary back, but then got Sirius and Remus for Harry, and also immediately went to speak to the headmaster about Harry's living situation. Everyone was in character, even Ron. Fantastically done.

    Author's Response: Thanks so much! I really love Snape looking out for Harry and trying to help him even if Harry isn't sure how to go about getting the help he needs. I love the dynamic between Snape and Harry depending on the different years and there's something particularly vulnerable about a first year/pre hogwarts Harry having Snape swooping in to take care of things.

Lucky Harry that Filch randomly brought him to snape (probably thinking Snape would punish Harry the worse out of the staff). I'm very happy to have written this for the bingo contest you set up!

    Woah! What a change of allegiance. But the Dursley's are pretty awful.

    Author's Response: I made them worse in this, as I believe they are already beyond redemption. Also, ignore my three replies to your comment in the next chapter. I twitched in the arm my Dark mark is in, and accidently clicked submit multiple times. My arm sometimes twitches, as the trauma still haunts me. Sometimes I still feel the burn of The Dark Lords summoning, even though he's long gone.
