- I always thought this was one of the very best stories in the genre...your characters all stay perfectly in character (which is a HUGE challenge for a writer when working with other people's characters), and your Snape's transition from hating Harry to caring for him is one of the most believable out there. I never got a sense of a leopard changing its spots too quickly, and all of it was handled with delicacy, precision and verve. Awesome job - truly unequaled!
After Snape's visit to Surrey, Harry writes a thank-you letter that triggers an extended correspondence and a tentative friendship between the two of them.

- Beautiful...I teared up a couple of times during this last chapter! With writing like this out there, I wonder why I bother?
As far as Snape/Luna goes...I must admit, my first thought was, "Snape! You dirty old man!!!" But then, sounds like Luna threw herself at him like a real Lolita. ;-)

Though Severus did find out more about Harry's old life, too, through his own dreams...I just didn't go into a lot of detail with that. Thanks again! Mark Evans was rescued from Dudley’s gang by Harry the summer before he got his Hogwarts letter. Severus Snape introduces Mark to the wizarding world, takes him to buy his supplies, etc., and Mark is sorted into Slytherin. He approaches Snape for help finding information about laws in the wizarding world, wanting to do something about Harry's situation at home with the abusive Dursleys to repay his debt to him. - Very, very nice! Could have used a going-over by an editor/beta, but overall a great job. Loved the extra characteristics you added to the Slytherins, i.e. ambitions, eye-for-an-eye justice, distaste for being in debt to anyone – brilliant!

What's in a name? The-boy-who-lived, prophesied defeater of the Dark Lord, son of the supremely intelligent Lily Evans and talented James Potter, Golden boy of Gryffindor, part-time punching bag and house elf of the Dursleys and the bane of Severus Snape's teaching career, Harry's used to labels. Who would want Harry when they can see instead whoever they like instead? Having never been entirely sure who he is makes him a little too open to suggestion though and unfortunately for him, Umbridge wants to banish his old list of names and create a new one of her own.
