After a trip to Little Whinging to satisfy his curiosity, Severus returned to Hogwarts sporting a present from the Boy-Who-Lived… drool and bogies. And Potter, only sixteen-months-old, had already earned himself a detention.

Very sweet story! (Despite the bogey on Snape's robes.) Thanks for sharing! Author's Response: It makes me very happy that you liked the parts with Petunia! Those were the parts I was most nervous about. Thanks so much for taking the time to review! Harry Potter was reckless. He was reckless and irresponsible and infuriating and impossible and Severus was terrified because he’d just heard a scream.

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm the same, it's always a bit hard to believe a suddenly nice Snape when you havent seen the change in him from canon but Bil's story did the job so fantastically I couldnt help wanting to expand on the fluff ^^ - glad it gave you the warm fuzzies ^-^ Hopefully the fluffy plot bunnies will assault me again soon ^^ have fun x On Halloween night, Wizarding graveyards come to life. Hoping to talk to his parents, Harry sets off for Godric’s Hollow, only to find…someone is already there.

I really liked the thing about Ron not wanting to speak about graveyards coming to life, because it's supposedly associated with dark magic and wizards. Death is generally a taboo topic, something people are unwilling to talk, or even think, about. Harry was well kept in character, and even Snape managed a little of his nastiness ("How else were they going to know what a horrible student you are?"-loved it!), while, overall, appearing just as affected by the meeting with Harry's parents as Harry himself. Very nice and bittersweet Halloween story! Author's Response: Thank you so much for the kind and enouraging review! Lol, yes, I imagine I won't be able to go to a graveyard for a while without getting goosebumps, althought they are fun...in a spooky way, ^_^ I'm really glad you liked it! Thanks! Halloween has always been painful for Harry, but the most unlikely person shows Harry that what started out as a tragedy, can be a miracle of love and rebirth.

Pettigrew caught, Sirius absolved and, above all, Harry finally having a father - happy endings all around! :) Lovely story! Thanks for sharing! Author's Response: Yeah, Ron's a hoot, and really fun to write. I loved writing him and Hermione bickering too. Yeah, I love happy endings too, although I know that they can't all be. Thanks for reviewing. What if when Harry sees Snape's memory, it isn't the infamous "Mudblood" memory with the Marauders? What if it is one of the memories that Snape gives to Harry before he dies in DH, and Harry finds out about Snape's deal with Dumbledore to protect him?

Well done! Not the miserable part but the rest of it - it's perfect. :) Author's Response: Thanks so much for the review! I'm usually such a happily-ever-after sort of girl as well, I hate sad endings. Ever read 'Journey's End'? I was sobbing for hours and desperately hoping that my copy of the book was a false one or something. I'm so glad you liked it anyway, and I loved Bats! That was so well written! Everyone makes mistakes, even great men like Dumbledore. But was placing six-year-old Harry Potter with Severus Snape the biggest mistake of them all? Or maybe…it could work out after all. Entrant in the 2009 Prompt Fest. Prompts: Bravery is Overrated and Boggart Under the Bed.

Loved how Harry opened up by the end; though, considering, he didn't speak to Snape for most of the day, I was rather surprised when he asked the Professor to be read a bedtime story. Not complaining, though. :) Adorable little story! Well done! Author's Response: Thanks so much for the review! I'm so glad you liked it! I love writing little Harry, I often struggle with small childrens' speech though but that didn't matter very much in this story as I made sure little Harry didn't give me any difficulty and he kept very quiet for me, lol. It is funny seeing Snape cope with the sweet things in life, I think a rose and some dog poo fall under the same category in Snape's book! Yes, it was rather a quick turn around for Harry to cuddle him at the end but I decided that no one can look scary when they are sleep (not that I sit around and watch people, you understand *giggles*) and little Harry had had such a scary day that all he wanted was a cuddle and with his motheaten old bear back at the Dursleys Snape was just the second best thing! Harry is impulsive, I think, and so I think he climbed onto his knee impulsively. Besides, he's only little and the need for a cuddle outweighed the feared consequences for the time being, I'm getting a bit scientific now, and I'm just making it up so I'll be quiet now. LOL! Harry's cuddle was a surprise considering Snape scared him but I guess he wasn't as scary after he heroically defeated the scary (and non-existant) boggart and read countless bedtime stories. Thanks so much for the review!!! Harry, once again, forgets to look before he leaps. Entrant in the 2009 Prompt Fest. Prompts: ‘He crawled through the long, tall grass on his hands and knees.’ and ‘Hang on tight, and don’t let go.'

You've wonderfully exploited the "uniting against a common foe" premise, including both Umbrigde and - fleetingly - Voldemort, which makes the interaction between Harry and Snape all the more believable. I mean, converting canon to fanon AND make it plausible is no easy feet, but you've managed to do it with remarkable ease. Masterfully done piece! Author's Response: That's wonderful to hear! ...err, read! Thank you for the canon compliment - I did think adding in Snape doodling kittens might be pushing it a bit, but the darn plot bunnies wouldn't let me leave it out :D Glad you enjoyed! Sev, Lily, and Harry are trying to live as a happy family, running an apothecary in Diagon Alley, after Lily divorced James years before. But James keeps trying to sabotage their relationship out of petty jealousy and tries to get custody of Harry by badmouthing Severus and attempting to ruin his reputation, using all his money and connections to do so. Features a Good! Tom Riddle. An eventually redeemed and de-aged James Potter also. Entrant in the 2009 Prompt Fest. Prompts: Scourgify! and Needle in a Haystack

I truly admire your knack for portraying, ah, typical people. (I don't mean it in a bad way.) To incorporate character traits that are, well, typical - common, if you like - to large masses of people into fictional characters, requires good observation skills, not to mention 'a way with words'. ;) And it's done brilliantly here - I can totally picture the family drama. :) Very promising beginning! Author's Response: Thanks so much! I agree, James could be classed like that and also as a man who doesn't appreciate a woman who likes to work. Hope you enjoy the family drama that's going to happen very soon. |
