- Love the atmosphere, from the ghostly choir to the greenish light from the pumpkins! Best of all is the continuing evolution of the abrasive relationship between Harry and Severus, taking on a new facet since their student/teacher days, and slowly beginning to polish off some of the rougher edges. Very nice take on the prompt! Thanks!
While on patrol the night of the grand feast, Severus stalks up on an eleven year old Harry who's trying to sneak out of the castle with the help of his invisibility cloak, only for the two of them to get locked out of the castle by accident! how will they survive the night?

- Overall, interesting premise and nicely detailed. Both characters are thoroughly true to form! I did have to wonder about an apparent discrepancy in the timeline: Harry is supposedly wandering the corridors after curfew "in the dead of night", yet Hagrid is (at the same time) in the Great Hall attending the feast? At least Snape and Harry will be safe till morning. 😊
"Why does it have to be a heart anyways?" the boy whined, holding his chin with the palm of his hand.
"Because that's how some people express their love."
"By giving their hearts?" Harry traced his chest in fright and Severus rolled his eyes.
"Metaphorically." he informed the pale looking child and drew his wand.
"I don't understand, why would I give my heart to someone, but not really give it to them? It doesn't count if I trick them into believing that I gave them my heart... When I still have it."
"It doesn't quite work like that, Harry." the potion master said.
"Then how does it work? Why can't it be a circle if it's not really a heart?"

[COMPLETE] After Harry blows up Aunt Marge and catches the Knight Bus to Diagonalley, he decides to take charge of his life when he learns he’s being sent back to Four Privet Drive. Harry spends the summer turning life in Diagonalley on its head, trying not to worry about the murderer Sirius Black, and attempting to avoid Severus Snape. In the midst of this he finds himself embroiled in an intense legal battle against Albus Dumbledore to decide his future. For the first time his fate rests solely in his own hands, and depend on the decisions he finds himself being forced to make. Harry wishes he could just be a thirteen year old boy, and begins to wonder if he’ll ever have the childhood he desires the most. - "polite company" -- and then Lucius sneers at Harry... Sarcasm, or slip of the tongue? An admonishment aimed at Draco, certainly, but I had to laugh at Lucius Malfoy using "polite" in that particular context! 😉 The rest of the story really has grabbed my attention, and I'm eager to see how it plays out.

- Absolutely loved descriptions of all the brooms! And, oh! can I relate to Justin's glass cleaning!!! I used to work retail furniture, and people ALWAYS had to test the thickness of the glass-topped tables, leaving fingerprints top & bottom! But there was a 2-year-old girl who actually LICKED every glass table she came to, leaving toddler SLIME on the glass! Some of the nastiest stuff I ever had to clean in that lovely store! Poor Justin!

- "You seek trouble out." Lovely play on words! But what I really enjoy is how you show Harry finally understanding what "family" really is-- beautifully done! - Oh, wow! I love the uncertainty of the ending! As for the conversation between Snape and Harry, it was nice to see a reassuring Snape, instead of one who so easily have been hostile and distant, after Harry heard Snape's name and determined to ferret out the underlying mystery. A lovely cemetery scene, tho' I misread "foggy" as "froggy"! Thanks for a great Halloween read! 👻
