Gryffindor!
Rather than allowing Harry to stay at Diagon Alley after he blew up Aunt Marge, the Ministry sends Harry back to the Dursleys. Harry returns to school after a terrible summer, to find that he's not the only one with this kind of secret. A student has been killed by his family. New screening measures are put into place by the Ministry: Every student must be given a medical exam and interview to look for child abuse. With Dumbledore facing an inquiry, Snape is entrusted with the task of making sure EVERYONE receives one.

- I loved this chapter! Great job! Phenomenal portrayal of Molly Weasley too! The only thing I didn't like was Mrs. Granger insisting on being called Dr. Granger. Of course if you were going for her being stuck up and better than everyone else. it worked ;-). I love this story. I love the slowly building relationship between Snape and Harry. I'm glad too that Ginny was on drugs as opposed to being possessed--which is where I thought you were going with this originally.

I work with doctors. (the medical and dental kind, not the PhD kind). They actually do that kind of thing. They don't even know it comes across as obnoxious. SHe's aware that wizards are a bit formal and don't tend to use first names that quickly. She's also aware they don't have the title "doctor". She thinks she's being helpful. Hermione does that too--does things that she has no clue come across as obnoxious.
In the summer before Harry's second year, it's discovered that Lily didn't die, but was instead held prisoner for several years.

When Death is thwarted and doesn't know why, it's never what one would consider a typical thing. The fact that Death isn't all that pleased about being out of the loop doesn't help much either.

- I love the pics and the story! I love the time travel too. I'm not sure how A/U you are planning, but I wonder why Snape hates Harry so much if Harry is his son? And why Harry looks like James. Maybe Snape thinks Harry really is James' son (and he still could be since prior to that moment Lily was dating James). Curious to see where you take this.
At the beginning of Fifth Year, Harry continues to be get detentions with Umbridge and her awful quill, and now he's getting sicker and sicker. Afraid he won't be believed, he refuses to go to the staff for help. Will anyone take notice before things go too far?

- OK, so what I want to see is Snape finding Harry after his detention as he's walking back to Gryffindor tower and Snape finding out what's wrong and taking him to the hospital wing. Great start!

As far as Harry knew, it was all some sort of experiment that only Dumbledore could understand. He had no idea that the cat he had been given to keep him company instead of Hedwig over the holidays before his 3rd year, was in fact, his hated Potions Master in disguise.
Because of the Azkaban escapee, Sirius Black, Severus is sent to stay with Harry during the entire summer, never making a sound nor leaving the boy's side. He could not speak, nor could he defend Harry against anyone other than the criminal on the loose, however Severus does something that no other adult in Harry's life had done before...he listened.

Albus Dumbledore was a master manipulator. He knew what was best, and he knew how to get it, and how to get you to accept it. He always had the last say, and always got his way, which would eventually become your way (whether you liked it or not). And sometimes, sometimes, you wouldn’t even know that you had been manipulated.
