Albus Dumbledore admits he often asks too much, but this time he has decided to ask something altogether different. With the shadows of war encircling them all, it will take incredible wit and strength to see his soldiers through to the end. What he needs, more than anything, is for them to work together - and Albus is nothing if not full of ideas on how to make the impossible happen.

Author's Response: Ahh thank you so much! I'm glad you're liking it so far - and I really enjoyed writing that particular part. <3 I always did feel there was a bit of lamb to the slaughter going on in the books, so it was really enjoyable to have Snape point it out XD
Author's Response: Thank you for the compliment! As to the discrepency though (and for the sake of pre-explanation in regards to the soon coming chapter two): Although underage magic is recorded at the Dursley residence, the magic of adults is inconsistently registered - I say inconsistently, because while Dobby was registered, several adult wizards were not. The Ministry tracks the use of magic through the Trace Charm, which cannot be placed on an adult. And although the charm is described as affecting the 'vicinity' of where an underage witch or wizard may reside, it is heavily supported in the books that adult witches and wizards can perform magic around an underage child without it alerting the Ministry. The Ministry generally ignores when the Trace is broken by underage wizards and witches of wizarding families, expecting their parents to discipline them, and living in a magical household essentially makes it useless at monitoring their use of magic; Harry, living at the Dursley's, would be given more attention, but it was stated Hermione has cast spells at home while underage without being reprimanded by the Ministry. So there are discrepencies in the books themselves. Also, in the books Tonks and Arthur Weasley both cast spells in Harry's home without the Ministry becoming involved. It is also theorized that the Ministry recognizes a discrepency between adult casting and underage casting; that said, considering Severus' history I don't doubt for a second he knows many ways to shield his presense from the notice of the Ministry even IF they were to be paying attention. And considering he's a man who flies under the law rather often, I imagine he's quite good at keeping off the radar. Harry Potter is not a happy child. He carries a danger inside him that manifests itself soon after he arrives at Hogwarts, and it falls to his new Head of House, Severus Snape, to protect Harry, even from himself…

Author's Response: Thank you so much! More will be coming soon... Alternate sixth year. Either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives. Does that mean that if Harry dies, then Voldemort is mortal? Or that if the two don't kill each other, than neither will ever die?
Harry takes another look at the prophesy, and finds that he just doesn't care much for his life, after all. All he needs is a cooperative Death Eater. Author's Response: Thanks for your comments, because I wasn't sure how I wanted to handle it. I felt odd letting Harry be dismissed, and while I had my reasoning, it didn't work. I think the best thing to do is take your suggestion and use the next chapter to give them time for an entire conversation. As this is my first fic, I love having helpful comments because this isn't something I'm used to writing, and there's a definite learning curve. Thank you very much! This help is greatly appreciated. :) All other things being equal, what if Severus did not allow his hatred of James Potter to blind him?
