Author's Response: Thanks!!! My inspiration was a monochromatic artwork on Google images of a stark black, gnarled, bare tree silhouetted against shaded blue circles radiating out from a full white moon. Whoa! If only I could come up with a plot to go with the Dancing Tree, which was what had IMMEDIATELY popped into my mind to describe the tree image. Well, that preceded the site prompts, so I kept turning my original idea over in my mind... I had basic idea of story in two parts, but essentially, this storytelling was stream-of-consciousness writing from beginning to end over two days' time, plus additional revision a few days later. *kicks self for waiting so long to get started* But it turned out okay, and I'm so glad you liked it! - Very neatly done.I was so sure you were describing Snape as Harry's father at the beginning, so it was a good surprise to find otherwise.
Hogwarts has enacted a house-exchange program in the interest of increasing inter-house unity and understanding. Students fourth year and up can visit other houses for two weeks if they sign up. Harry has a morbid curiosity about what it might have been like to be sorted into Slytherin.

- Definitely a 5 frog chapter. I'm impressed as to how you manage to write so much and still keep it interesting.
It is late in the evening, but Severus Snape is finally ready to sit back in his chair beside a steaming cup and contemplate. Because Merlin's beard, is there a lot to contemplate. He finally lets himself feel the emotions churning mutedly inside him as he stares into the flames hissing in his hearth. - There's no way you can wrap this up in just one chapter - not even a very long one! It's such a great read - I find I'm rushing each chapter as I'm so keen to find out what Harry is thinking, and wondering how long Snape can stay aloof. A bonus in some ways as I can then reread at a more leisurely pace.
Author's Response: I've always meant this to have a bit nebulous, Snape-and-Harry-reach-a-truce-but-aren't-super-cuddle-buddies ending, so I hope it's satisfying enough for everyone! Definitely a big shift is going to happen in the next chapter...and I'm thinking in the possible sequel (though I'm not sure when I'm going to get to it?) that I'll take that relationship deeper. This just kind of sets a groundwork. But yes, Snape and his aloofness! Whatever shall we do with the man? ^-^ Thanks so much for speaking up again - I just love feedback, and you're so super sweet! <3

Thanks for taking the time to comment! ^-^ I definitely have ideas for a sequel; just not sure when I'll get to it. Hopefully, I'll come up with some other fun Harry-and-Snape ideas in the meantime (definitely want to try my hand at a deaged fic…). ^-^ As mentioned in the notes at the end, I've got a couple other pieces up on AO3 that aren't particularly Harry and Snape related if you are open to checking them out!
