    Yes, Snape demonstrated pretty clearly in canon that as smart as he is, he can definitely be childish at times.

    Why didn't Lily seek out Sirius before going to Petunia? She wouldn't have known about Sirius' supposed betrayal and therefore should have expected to find Harry with him. Right? At the very least, wouldn't she have asked Dumbledore or Severus why Harry wasn't with Sirius? After all, she would know that Sirius wasn't their secret keeper.
