Everyone seems to have forgotten that the Boy-Who-Lived exists. Harry's friends don't remember who he is. It's a struggle for Harry to hold on to reality as he knows it, while at the same time coming to terms with who he really is. He finds Snape an unexpected ally in the struggle that ensues to reclaim his identity. 6th year AU. (Harry is gay)

I love the way Harry speaks. He sounds just like any other ordinary, real life sixteen year old boy in both thoughts and words. He's quite witty as well.

The sex shop was a very nice addition to the story, simply because it allows Harry to have one of the many experiences that comes with being young. Very true to life.

I don't know what to think of this Steve fellow. What are his intentions? ;)

    Great chapter!

On Halloween, a special quilt evokes memories for both Harry and Snape. One-shot. (Written for Halloween 2010.)

This was good. Really good. Ridiculously good. Nothing short of brilliant, actually.

Tender, precious, but it's not overly done. Your Snape is excellent and wonderfully characterized.

I adore this little piece of writing.

Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed it-- it was a real kick to write, plus I got to "deal" with Umbridge in what I thought was a most fitting manner. (HA!)

In a small coffee shop in London, Severus meets a side of Harry that both unsettles him and intrigues him. From here, a game is played.

    Very lovely, Miss Ria. :)

Author's Response: Thank you for all of your help! You are seven shades of awesome! :)

There are many secrets Severus Snape holds, but most of those secrets, he'd confide them in someone he deems trustworthy, like Dumbledore. Even so, there are still some matters he would never ever confess verbally, not even to Dumbledore.

Well done! I love the idea of things unspoken. Great work!

Author's Response: Haha. Thanks, but the idea wasn't originally mine. I just saw it on some author's profile page and just write something of my own. Thanks again!!

Rather than allowing Harry to stay at Diagon Alley after he blew up Aunt Marge, the Ministry sends Harry back to the Dursleys. Harry returns to school after a terrible summer, to find that he's not the only one with this kind of secret. A student has been killed by his family. New screening measures are put into place by the Ministry: Every student must be given a medical exam and interview to look for child abuse. With Dumbledore facing an inquiry, Snape is entrusted with the task of making sure EVERYONE receives one.

Hi, there! Very interesting concept, but just one problem: you posted the entire first chapter in the "Story Notes" box and then proceeded to post it as an actual linked chapter as well.

All you need to do is go back into your story and delete everything from the "Story Notes" box -- unless of course you'd like to add any extra information *about* your fic (your motivation for writing it, explanations of ideas and events in the story, etc. -- things that are not part of the fic itself but are pieces of the outline), in which case you would use the "Story Notes" box to do so.

I ran into a bit of trouble in posting my first fic as well (this site can be kind of tricky and finicky at times). It'll take some getting used to.

Again, very lovely start. I'm very much looking forward to reading more. :)

Author's Response: Oh, good lord!  Thank you.  I was working with a seriously problematic internet connection and I guess I pasted it wrong!  I was in a hurry before to get things done before it went out again.  I think its fixed now.

Wonderful chapter! And sadly, the students' behavior was very realistic. Gossiping about who's a victim and who's not is definitely something psychologically/emotionally immature children do. I also appreciated the bit about the Ravenclaw being offended by the idea that Pureblood parents could ever abuse a child. Typical Pureblood supremacy ideology -- that child needs to learn that abuse isn't specific to any particular heritage, ethnicity, race, etc.

You've done a magnificent job of handling this.

    Author's Response:

My high school had several student deaths when I was there.  It's been a very long time, but I can still remember the reactions of the students and teachers.  I never felt that JKR really caught that effect.  It's hard to describe unless you've been there.

It's a common misconception that domestic violence and child abuse doesn't happen in "good" families.

Thank you for the kind words.

After the war, Harry attacks Snape with an unorthodox and potentially lethal proposal. Chaos ensues.

But forgive you? Hardly. Oh, I’ll make sure you’re exonerated, and that you get your due—Merlin First Class or whatnot, but personally, I could care less if you rot in hell. You’ve been nothing but a cruel bastard to me, even if you saved my life more often than I realized. You’d have just as soon seen me die if you hadn’t been beholden to Dumbledore.”

Forgive me for the serious lack of eloquence I am about to display.

    HELL. FREAKING. YES.

This is... I can't even... wow, just wow. I never jumped on the 'Snape-totally-and-completely-redeemed-himself-and-he-didn't-really-hate-Harry-all-that-much-and-he-deserved-to-be-forgiven-because-he-was-really-just-a-flawed-guy-and-he-wasn't-really-that-bad.'

No. Snape was a cruel bastard despite the fact that he continually saved Harry's life and was really fighting for the good side. Had he not made the vow to protect Harry, he wouldn't have given a damn if the boy died. When he died, he was still just as nasty and spiteful as he'd always been; the fact that he spent years honoring a promise didn't change that. I can't stand it when people try to justify his vicious behavior. I love Snape and I feel like it's a disservice to the character to excuse everything he was--all of his nastiness and bullying--because of the fact that he was secretly a spy who loved Lily and saved Harry's neck. None of those things changed his true nature. Harry had every right to be angry with Snape, even after the man died, for the way Snape treated him for so long. Not a lot of fans seem to understand that or even want to consider it.

This story is absolutely delicious so far. I love Harry's anger. I love the little things, like Snape having some gray hairs and Harry noticing how expressive his eyes are. And what Harry is asking him to do? My god. I can't wait to see how this unfolds!

I trust you. I am a huge fan of 'The Knowledge of One' and 'China Cat'. You have a way of keeping Snape in character and not too many people can do that. You are someone who really understands the complexities of this character, who isn't afraid to write him in all of his harsh, nasty, and unfair glory. And for all of those reasons, it's definitely safe to say you are the one who can take us on this journey and make it believable. I don't like the way most authors write Snape, but I absolutely love and admire the way you write him (I like seeing my favorite character written exactly the way he is in canon). I know that Snape can be put in your hands and that you will do something wonderful with him.

    Extremely original and intriguing idea.

You get ten raving frogs from me!

Anxiously anticipating the next chapter. I apologize for the rant, haha. :)

Author's Response: Wow. Thank you! I'm suddenly feeling a lot of pressure to live up to your expectations :-) I hope I can manage it. :-)

In the summer before Harry's second year, it's discovered that Lily didn't die, but was instead held prisoner for several years.

I refuse to take the blame for your negligence, Vic. You allowed yourself to be distracted by the deliciousness of home fries. Denial will get you nowhere; acceptance is the first step.

This story has a shadow looming over it. It's quite haunting and just gives the reader a feeling of dread and a sense of impending doom and maybe a bit of hope at the same time, which is nothing short of wonderful. I love stories like that, stories that can you make you feel several different things simultaneously. Well done, Miss.

    Author's Response:

Ha, Lore! Yeah. Right. If anyone gets blamed, it's going to be you. Especially with his latest story you've roped me into reading. ;-)

I'm totally glad you said it gave you a feeling of dread and doom, because that's what I was hoping readers would get out of it. So thank you for that.

    -Vic

P.S. Don't be in denial. It's not good for you. It's your fault. Accept it.
