Following the death of Sirius, Harry isn't sure what to make of the sudden appearance of a six-year-old boy. The pair form a bond, unaware they're half-brothers, and Harry decides to take the boy to Hogwarts and hide him there. To aide the boy's education, Harry anonymously exchanges letters with Snape. A story of a how a young boy becomes a father-figure to another while their own father is oblivious of their biological existence. But can sixteen-year-old Harry give what he himself has not gained? Can he go an entire year without being discovered? Just how far will Severus go to find the writer of those letters...Or are some things best left unknown?

Another great chapter! Love the little touches, like Dumbledore's realistic reaction to Harry's rudeness and the fact that Snape's abrupt disappearence led Harry and Draco to look at each other in puzzlement. I like how Irma's acting in a Mrs. Weasley motherly way to Harry and how he responds abashedly. And Toby's objection to Snape's answer was priceless. Can't wait to see Snape's reply.

So glad you're continuing this story! You really know how to build suspense. Can't wait for the next chapter. I love all of the characters and story lines and hope they all take part in the end.
Question: Will we ever find the truth about Toby's mum?
Author's Response: Of course I am continuing it. :) Thanks, and glad to hear your comments. And in answer to your question, yes...readers will know the truth about Toby's mother at some point in the story, though I have no pinpointed which chapter exactly yet.
AU / Death Eaters besiege Hogwarts. A spell from Dumbledore is going astray. A cauldron explodes during potions class. And the old castle enfolds its own magic. Can some students survive the next twenty-one days?

Oh, this story is so intriguing!
I like the effect of your short scenes, cutting back and forth between the different charachters, and how you start each scene in the middle of the action. At the same time, your story reads smoothly, and it's not apparant to me that English isn't your first language. May I ask what is?
Looking forward to seeing how the dunderheads survive the dungeons!
If especially strong-willed, sometimes the dead can interfere with the events of the living. Lily Evans is a very strong-willed woman and is not happy with the course of events in her son's life. She is planning, and slowly building her energy so that she can step in and set things to right.

Your approach IS original. I really enjoyed the extra details that we didn't get from the book - like Severus' internal monologue on the garlic. Looking forward to the next chapter!
Author's Response: Thank you, I am glad you liked it and find it original! I have been dying to right a Severus and Harry guardian story, but I wanted it to be something different.
Upon discovering his self destructive habits, Dumbledore sends a reluctant Harry to Snape's office. Angst ahoy... don't like, don't read. Warnings: Self harm, tired plot lines, cliche angst, and language. Suggestions for future chapters always welcome.

Yes, finally - an in-character Snape, rendering your story not cliché. You can confidently say you're off to a great start.
That was a sneaky title, "Solution" - I didn't see Harry's interpretation of solution coming. Hard times coming, but I trust Snape will be able to help Harry. He seems to understand the boy at least. Might he have had similar feelings?
I also appreciate your honesty and courage to write sincerely about a tricky topic.
Author's Response: I appreciate you taking time out of your day to review!
I'm thrilled to hear that you see Snape in-character. It's becoming increasingly tougher to keep him so, but I'm going to keep on trekking. The challenge is up ahead - Chapter 6, in-character Sev POV? We'll see... it's so much easier to write from Harry's perspective... Snape's dialogue just seems to flow from my fingertips. I guess it's because we spent over a decade of our lives reading Snape through Harry, so it's tough to think of it any other way.
*sniff* I have to keep reminding myself that it's not over, but it's over.

Glad to see you're continuing your story in the midst of everything else you have going on. This is a great story and I can't wait to see what happens!

So clever! I hope you have a lot of dishes to wash in the future.
Loved the phoenix analogy.
It would be interesting to include the scene of Harry's "death", and other scenes that show the status of his relationship with Snape just before he died.
Also, what did Harry mean by saying Snape was "the only one who loved--"?
Great writing, and I hope you publish that novel some day, and tell us about it so we can read it!
Author's Response: There was no meaning when Harry said Snape was the only one who loved... it was Harry trying to be a jerk to Snape when he woke him up every morning at 5 am, because Harry knew full well that Snape hated him. Thanks for the review!

Thank you for your realistic, honest story. Suspenseful and unexpected.
I loved the theme of Eileen insisting on leaving Tobias to follow through with his word, and how that gave an explanation for the broken handle we've always wondered about!
Liked how Tobias called Severus 'Rus!

Wow, I've never read anything like this. It's impressive how you keep all of the identities so distinct and transition smoothly from one to another.
I'm wondering how Tom obtained his knowledge of the magic world and how he seems to have been around before Harry was alive (?). His name also suspiciously reminds me of Riddle; is that just a coincidence?
Keep up the good work!
Author's Response: Thank you very much! No, it's not just a coincidence. ;) Essentially, Tom is the Horcrux. Just, y'know, with a personality of his own, and he's been changed a LOT by living in Harry's head.
