Good start - very interesting. Though I believe Harry has bitten off a little more than he'll be able to chew. Nevertheless, I am interested in where you will take us on this journey...
lol Curiosity too much for Severus...?

At the beginning of Fifth Year, Harry continues to be get detentions with Umbridge and her awful quill, and now he's getting sicker and sicker. Afraid he won't be believed, he refuses to go to the staff for help. Will anyone take notice before things go too far?

Yikes... poor, silly fool, Harry. He's being rather stubborn about asking for help, isn't he.
Looking forward to Snape finding out, and seeing what he'll do.

AU of Deathly Hallows. Severus Snape didn't die in the Shrieking Shack, and is on trial as a Death Eater. With Albus Dumbledore dead, it falls to Harry Potter to aid in proving his innocence. Of course, things are never that simple, and there's another small problem that Harry has to take care of.

Aw... I'm speechless - love it! The whole thing, but especially the name.
Odd that Harry didn't just come up with anything 'temporary', but put such thought into it. After all, Severus could change it to whatever he wanted afterwards. Still, I love the names, and hope that Severus appreciates them too and keeps them - they're beautiful!
Poor girl, I hope Severus finds her and helps her out ultimately too. She must be hurting tremendously.
    Great job so far!

This isn't feeling rushed at all... so don't fret. As much as I am dying to see Sev's reaction to being introduced to his son I am enjoying the little details and twists along the way.
"Bundle of joy... yeah that's it" Oh yes, you sound like you've done this before. I have five, so I know you have at least got a good grip on the first few weeks after bringing a new baby home. I always say: If they weren't cute, you'd EAT them! *looks at my 13 y/old... same, same... the sentiment still holds... :p
"Yes, Mum" ...Say, Hermione, what do you know about babies?" Ah, brilliant, Harry is finally using his 'Slytherin' traits... Poor Hermione, never knows when to keep her big trap shut! Serves her right.
Aw, but on the other hand, I can't wait to see her cuddling Severus' new born baby. I can't abide a HG/SS fic normally, but this sort of affiliation I like...
    Great job!
Oh, and I like the Snape parts last chapter too. He's determinedly staying harsh to spare himself, I imagine. It'll be a harder fall when he does though, I suppose. Bless him.
    Thanks...

Unbelievably horrified. They wouldn't, would they? Execute anyone? If that's the case, then how is it that Severus is still alive? He'd have long been killed by now, right?
Who's in charge now - can't be Kingsley, he wouldn't do 'that'. NO, make it someone who's gone crazy, and please have it only a rumour that proves false that anyone has been killed yet. It just doesn't ring true.
You've done so well with this fic so far, don't go too extreme and kill it. *begs*
Regardless of my qualms, please know that I think this is written well, even though I can't identify with the direction your plot might be taking.

    Author's Response:

    Thanks for the review!

Don't worry, I don't intend to make it so horrific that I write myself into a corner I can't get out of.

As far as it being rumors, though...sorry, can't say that it's rumors. Government entities throughout history have actually gone this far, though perhaps not with the general focus on babies. As one reviewer pointed out, there is a historical correlation with this situation vis a vis the edict of King Herod's mandate to kill all baby boys below a certain age, in an attempt to kill the one who would grow up to overthrow him. (Hmm...sounds suspicously like Voldemort going after Harry as a baby, doesn't it?).

There are other instances in history that are confirmed in the Bible's accounting, too, such as the plague that took only the first born sons of the Egyptians, etc.

But, despite my referring to two specific places in the Bible, please don't confuse this with some sort of religious angle. It's just the most widely-read source I could think of off the top of my head. Most of the history books I've used in my research very few people outside of academic circles have ever heard of, and they're not really something you can just check out from the public library.

As far as it not ringing true...why not? When Fudge was in office, he did a great number of vastly idiotic things, like stationing Dementors outside of a boarding school. When Voldemort was in control of the Ministry, there were trials of muggleborns and half-bloods where they were accused of stealing the magic they were born with.

How is it any less believable that the so-called Light side might go to extremes in an attempt to purge the Darkness from their population?

There are instances in history where people were executed by the hundreds just for the mere accusation of practicing witchcraft, with absolutely no proof other than what the one who accused them said they did (flying on a broom at midnight, really?)

Not to mention when the Black Death was going on, plenty of people who were still in the first stages of the disease, not even close to death yet, were heaped onto the corpse wagons to be thrown into mass graves or funeral pyres along with those who had already succumbed. Monty Python was being a bit tongue-in-cheek with their sketch, but there really were plenty of people whose protestations of "I'm not dead!" went ignored because they showed signs of having the Plague.

I think it's perfectly logical that after years of terror under the threat of Voldemort and his Death Eaters, that usually-reasonable people might react in a type of mass-hysteria and overcorrect in an attempt to prevent something similar from happening in the future.

Besides which, there's an old adage that plainly states, "Never underestimate the stupidity of people in large groups".

So...while I don't agree with your opinion that the situation is unrealistic, I do promise that it's not going to derail the story. It's a plot twist with a reason, and trust me, it will all make sense in the end.

Welcome to the witch-hunt. Anything can happen when Harry and Snape are transported back in time to an area in Scotland where the witch-hunt is in full swing. Getting back to their time isn't the biggest issue: it's staying away from the ropes in the square.

Excellent story so far. Very captivating. I like that Snape finally gave in and confessed his sins and guilt... one should not go to death feeling so overwhelmed, and sharing can help ease the burden.
Though, of course, it turned out he needn't have worried... (irony... lol)
I am curious as to whether you have a reason why Snape could not have Apparated, as in canon I believe they can achieve it without a wand...as they don't get them out for Apparition lessons at Hogwarts...
    Looking forward to more.

Author's Response: That will all be explained in the next chapter, don't you worry! Thanks for the lengthy review!

Lovely - Harry came to a good conclusion. I am proud of him! Nobody deserves to die, and everyone deserves the chance to be judged and taken as they now 'are' rather than what they 'were' or for what they had 'done' when they recognised and regretted their mistake.
Glad to get the explanation of how they got away and wards etc.
    Good job!
    misundersnape...

Author's Response: I'm so happy you liked Harry's conclusion; I was a little worried it might seem far fetched to some as Harry is only eleven. Though, I for one know that I came to some pretty mature conclusions to some things when I was about that age too, so I'm glad you thought it turned out good. Thanks for the review misundersnape!

They seem to be bonding quite well, slowly, but that's usually the best way, like with a baby, gradually getting to know an individual well and growing with them.
I hope Harry gets another chance to say what he wants to Snape, it seems the older of the two needs to hear something positive too.
Snape brewing without distraction would be an incredible thing to see... *wishes*
Great job - looking forward to the next.
    misundersnape...

Author's Response: Thanks for the review! Yes, bonding slowly is best, though sometimes it is hard to do when you're caught up in writing all the fun and action! ;) I am in agreement with you in that I very much wish that I could see Snape brew in peace. Yes, it would be quite an awesome sight.

Oh, I'm so glad for some fresh action! Not that the 'feelings' stuff wasn't good, but I do love action too.

Poor little girl, I'm eager to see how Severus deals with this... exciting...

Author's Response: Thanks for the review misundersnape, and I totally get what you mean by fresh action. I love action so much!
