When Harry finds an injured Snape on his doorstep and must hide him from the Dursleys, he has no idea that this very, very bad day will be the start of something good.

Harry and Snape are thrown together by annoying relatives, a series of strange dreams, and Voldemort's latest hunt for Harry, but their greatest challenge may well be surviving each other. This will be a long summer unless the two can find a way to work together. A slow-burn enemy-to-mentor story.

Alternate 6th summer (and part of the school year): post-OotP; ignores HBP and DH.

Title: Chapter 31: Chapter 31 - Grimmauld Place 02 Jan 2020

Woohoo!!! I could not contain my excitement when I saw this story was being updated! I first read it so long ago that I don't remember it as clearly as I would like, and I'm probably going to have to go back and re-read the earlier chapters, but I was too excited to read the new chapters first, haha! These were fantastic chapters and I am so excited for the next chapter. So much going on! I really like your portrayal of occlumency lessons in particular. I have read a lot of Harry Potter fanfiction, but I don't think I've ever read it described in this way, and it is very believable and engaging. I really hope Remus will be okay, and I am on the edge of my seat wondering if Voldemort actually can get into grimmauld place! Thank you for not giving up on the story even though it has been so long, and coming back strong with so many wonderful chapters!

Author's Response: Thank you for the note!! I'm so glad that you're enjoying the story! :) I admit I was worried that after being absent from the site for so many years, nobody would be interested in the story anymore. I'd determined to finish it anyway, for the sake of finished projects, but it is soooooo much more fun and satisfying to know that others are enjoying the process alongside me! So thank you! And I'm really glad that you like my take on Occlumency. :)

Another fantastic chapter! I like the slow realization Harry had of Severus's relationship with Lily. I'm also very excited to see more of this mysterious Kneader...

I'm about halfway through rereading the earlier chapters and thoroughly enjoying it :)

    Thank you for the story!

Author's Response: I'm so glad you liked it! I'm excited to explore Harry's changing views of Snape in future chapters now that he sees him as somehow tied to his mother. Thanks for reviewing! :)

Wonderful chapter! I am really enjoying the slow build of trust and comfort between them. I am also having fun thinking about and coming up with theories on how much Voldemort knows and how he knows it...I eagerly look forward to finding out what happens next!

Author's Response: Coming up with theories is fun, isn't it?? I look forward to hearing what you think of things as they play out in OME. Thanks for the review! :)

One unlucky hit with a strange spell. That's all it took to alter the course of Harry's life - and everyone else's life around him. Bound to stay within ten feet of each other, Harry Potter and Severus Snape have to learn to get along or die trying.

But sometimes in the hardest of times, one can learn things never imagined possible. After all, the past doesn't define the future.

I am thoroughly enjoying this story! You have done a fantastic job getting me hooked and keeping me attached. So many times a story either doesn't quite catch me, or it rushes it and over does it, but your story has struck a beautiful and delicate balance and pacing. You have avoided making things just suddenly work out, you're adding more conflict as other things resolve, you're allowing tough and tragic things to happen...and I can't put it down! Also, in my far too many years of devouring HP fanfic, I have never encountered teenage Headmaster Harry...this is refreshingly fantastic! I am really glad you mentioned your original work on Amazon in your author notes as I occasionally come across a fanfic author I like so much I wish I could support them in original fiction. You are one such author and I was glad to immediately buy your ebook and I look forward to reading it! Finally, I just checked out your YouTube and I have to also add that your doggos are adorable and if I knew how, I'd send you a picture of my doggy, Severus Neville ^_^ Thank you for the fantastic writing, and good luck with NaNoWriMo!

It's nice to see both some more details on the effects the blood quill is having on Harry, as well as some measure of progression on the part of the three bratty adults in *hopefully* learning to get along, at least for Harry's sake.

I hope in future chapters we see the four of them grow closer all around, as Harry will need all the support he can get.

I further hope that Harry will in time gain some level of control over his wild powers, and even if he can no longer use wands, still be able to do magic at will and with less or no harm to himself. It is my thought and wonder that perhaps it is the wild and uncontrolled aspect of his current magic that is harming him, because it is just so powerful it drains some of his life force, essentially, not just his magical core. I'd like to see him lock down control over that, so he can wield magic freely again, and *without* the repercussions, or at least with the choice in whether he draws that much or not...could definitely be the power the Dark Lord knows not...

I look forward to the next chapter of your story, and eventually seeing where, indeed, you intend to go with this storyline!

Thank you for the lovely update :)

Yay!! I've been sick, so it was a while before I got to read this chapter, but now that I have, I can say it was fantastic, and worth the wait! I really wanted everything to be worked out now, for Sirius to be understanding and so forth, but I'm actually glad you didn't do that. Much as I wanted it, it would have been unrealistic. The way you are handling the pacing and character growth is spot on. I look forward to where they go from here :)

Thank you for another great chapter! For what it's worth, this doesn't seem like an OP Harry to me. This is a differently powered Harry, but it's still similar to Canon in that he has powers others don't, but is still human and limited too :)

COMPLETE. Harry and Hermione go to a prestigious summer school, where Snape is a teacher. Unfortunately for Harry, Snape has spoken to the other staff and is on his way to turning the whole school against Harry.

Yay! I was so happy to see this story was updated. I'm also glad it was a nice, satisfying long chapter :D I have been following this story for a while, and though I will be sad to see it end, I look forward to seeing how it concludes. I hope that Harry and Snape, by the end of this story, will be able to come together more openly and communicate. Thank you for another chapter in this wonderful fic!
