When the saved hates the savior, magic demands justice and forms a slavery bond. Severus has saved Harry's life one too many times and the bond has formed, beyond anyone's power to dissolve.

This story makes my heart hurt. Slavery is such an ugly thing. I know myself enough to know that I would do anything in my power to kill myself rather that live a life of humiliation and pain and despair.

If I had to choose, I'd probably ask that ron be entrusted with "leashing" me at night. But then again, Ron can't wake up on his own in the morning, so Harry would probably "earn" punishments for being late as well.

sigh...I don't actually know if I can continue with the story. There is no sign of hope, just endless torment. Especially since Snape admitted that he likes to see Harry humiliated, just not broken. Being broken would take away the fun of humiliation after all. Bastard. Only thing left would be the pleasure of beating harry.

    yeah, my heart hurts

Author's Response: Well, you don't have to continue reading, and that's fine.  Thanks for the respectful review.  Notice, though, that despite Snape saying that, he's gone out of his way to help Harry.  That line was more a reference to his earlier behavior.  Snape was so upset at having to raise his hand against Harry that he got drunk.  He definitely doesn't get anything out of it.  Thanks for the review!

I wonder when Snape's slavery ended and under what circumstances, other than james's death? Did I miss that detail?

Author's Response: It was James' death that ended it.  Sorry if that wasn't clear in the story.  James' death = Snape's freedom.  Theoretically, Snape's death = Harry's freedom.  Don't over analyse that though, because that's not the point of the story.  I don't have any plans to kill Snape.

Once, just once, he wanted to celebrate Christmas with people who did not call him "Potter" or "Boy" and accepted him as he was; with people who loved him.
With his parents.
Severus's heart sank as he made the connection between Potter's wish and the Bird of Death.

Kudos, I enjoyed this story very much. I'm a sucker for Happy Endings, but I also think it would have been more powerful with the ending after Albus says his bit about Harry being more happy in death.

    Either way, I enjoyed it!

Author's Response: I entirely agree with you. Thanks for the review! : )  -- Dime

When an accident in potions causes imaginable damage to 3 different boys, perceptions start to change. One in particular of a dark and stern man, as truths start to come to light. How does one heal and move on from something like this? Who is left the task of picking up the pieces?

LOL, I'm dying here when thinking about the hassle this outing must have been. The phrase "patience of a saint" comes to mind. It also sound exhausting.

Author's Response: Right? I would have long declared it it over and shuffled on home lol. Can you imagine how exhausted Severus would be lol

I liked this chapter because it was realistic. Just because Remus's mistakes have been pointed out doesn't mean anything will change. Getting over jealously is a bitch to do. Most people struggle their entire lives with it. So....Kudos on capturing that in Remus. He's willing to hurt harry in order to sooth his own irrational jealously. Same with Severus previously. It's a human condition. Can't really condemn Remus for feeling it, only how he acts upon it.

Author's Response: That is very true, Remus is extremely loyal though you know to who he considers pack. And if the wolf in him as you read a bit in here was a bit annoyed with him he'll definitly be coming around. Especialy if he wants anything to do with Sirius. Albus will be in this next bit like always and they will all have a little chat.

Poor Neville. Somehow, someone needs to get him to stop making assumptions about people's feelings and motives. They are more complex that a five year old Neville can interpret.

Author's Response: They are indeed, but he's not being very forecoming in what he's feeling. Lol

Definitely holds promise and I look forward to see where you take this.

Will Snape realize he has turned into a worse bully than James Potter? He's not only a bully, but is an adult with authority over those he bullies and protected by the other adults. I always wonder about that in these sorts of stories.

    Can't wait for more!

    Author's Response:

That makes me feel really good to hear, I was worried for a bit that no one else would like it lol! Of course, where would Sev be if he never learned he was a horrible bully to a child....oh yeah Canon...He will definitly be made aware, we all knew he had his reasons still doesn't escuse it.

Thanks, I'll have the next chapter up soon!

yay! I'm happy to see a new chapter.

I love the kiddy language :-) I also laughed when Draco actually shared something. What a 180 degree turn in his personality.

IMHO DD was let off the hook too easily and quickly. But i guess there wasn't anything to gain by drawing it out. But DD DID know about Harry at least. He just purposefully ignored it because it was easier for HIM. He really does fail as a headmaster, especially preventing physicals for the students. That 101 stuff.

I'm not so sure Severus is up to the task. DD's assurances don't really mean much do they? I fear for Harry and Neville. I don't think he can be fair and equal at this point.

LOL, but then we wouldn't have this story would we?

    Can't wait for more!

    Author's Response:

I'm so happy to see a new review, they make me update faster. Since the great response last chapter I'm hoping to update every Sunday or Monday so keep a look out! :)

I'm so glad, I wonder if you noticed the difference in between their language though. Its so fun to write ad a kid, everything is just awesome and big lol. Good, toddler Draco is going to rewrite a few things for himself, starting with Poppy and Albus.I have some plans and he fits the bill.

He was, but I couldn't continue with really hitting some hard blows to Albus. I'm mostly indifferent to Albus Dumbledore in my honest opinon I feel he did wrong by Tom, Sev, Sirius and Harry and I cannot let that go or forgive him for it. Its a delicate process when I write him as I have to try hard not to bash him. Though don't think for a moment he got off so easy...Minerva still needs to be informed lol.

Personally I don't think Sev is up to the task either, he didn't even want to take them. He was guilted into it, I see him ,taking a lot of mistakes, but I also see Draco amd Neville not allowing for that. At this moment Harry needs protecters and I can see Draco and Neville doing that. Neville is an interesting character, the way he was in first year he would have never survived his Gran and Uncle if he was that timid. I think an incident brought that forth and so at five he's different. He's a Gryffindor even if he doesn't always show it.

Stick around for more though, and always review! Its been enlightening!

Yay for Aunt Poppy! I'm relieved that she'll be checking in on kids while they are with Sebbus :-)

I can only imagine what kind of room would be created in order for small kids to play in. something like that painting with the stairways going every which way, defying gravity and with a ball pit... like at Chuck E cheese :-)

    Author's Response:

I know, I always liked Poppy as a character even though she was the Medi-witch, she still had a very important part in the war. Severus is gonna be way over his head.

I hadn't even though of that. I had where the boys will be stay but not the playroom part. Hmm...good idea, that is going to be important, though I don't think Sev will think of that either. We will see. Thanks for reading, means so much!

    Another great chapter!

You've really done a great job in capturing some important, but hard to define, mental pathways that Severus must get rid of and why. From realizing he needs help in caring for three toddlers to curbing his instinctive tone of voice towards "Potters". The "ah ha" moment Severus has with regards to Harry giving up on people was poignant.

I can't wait for more! This is definitely one of the best de-aging and Severus-as-a-parental figure out there. You're not glossing over the things that make these sorts of stories realistic - like trust is not just freely given towards authority figures when a kid has been abused. They have to earn in the hard way. Day by day. For every two steps forward, there will be one step back and they can't ever loose their patience or it will all be lost.

    Well done!

    Author's Response:

I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

Severus does learn, he's just stubborn, and while he's given up for the moment of Potter...he still has a way to go in regards to Neville. I love that I have you a reader, your review is awesome. Directly the point I was trying to make. I have seen alot of stories(including some of my own) where Harry trusts him automatically. I didn't want one of those right now, and with kids being unpredicatable it has come a long way. Thanks for coming along for the ride.
