I enjoy reading as well as writing my own fan fictions. I especially love reading Harry Potter fan fiction, which is how I ended up finding this website. I don't know if I'll ever upload anything here (cause I'm still trying to finish a fan fic from a different fandom) but I'll definitely be enjoying everyone elses work. :)

    I liked it. It was short and sweet.

    And as for the ooc thing. I do doubt that Snape would act this nice. On first view of the letter I even doubt he'd open it, but if he did and saw the picture he'd probably had gone into a rage. He's a very spiteful man and would probably think of this as some way that Potter is trying to antagonize him, as though Harry was teasing him about the fact that he's alone on Valentine's Day or that he couldn't get with his mother.

    Author's Response: Minimum wage was lower in '96 than it is now, and teenagers doing odd jobs for cash are highly unlikely to get as much as minimum wage. I did my research and a paper round job is only about a couple of quid per round, and that's the salary now, it was probably less then. In comparison, in my other fic Love Thy Neighbour, when he was doing odd jobs he was being paid only a bit less than a professional would have been, and before I knew it he'd earned hundreds. I'm quite careful when I decide what money amounts to write, but it always involves some guesswork and often a bit of creative licence, tailoring it to suit the story.

    Wow! That ending hit me right in the gut. It's crazy how thinking further into the psychology of why Harry would need Ollie gives you so much of a picture that we wouldn't even need to have seen the rest of the Dursley's abuse.

    Just him needing to make his own friend in order to get through things is evidence enough of how fucked up his life is.

    If you ever plan to continue this I'd love to read it. :D

    Author's Response: I might write another one shot in continuation to this story when my schedule's a bit easier to deal with. And the psychological aspect of this story actually really bothers me at times, because it shows the extent to which the human mind goes in order to protect us. Heartbreaking, really.
