Wow, James really is terrible, isn't he? Personally, I love James Potter, but this is making me want to punt him across a mountain range or something. I wish Snape would stop being such an ass and try to see that Harry needs him.
I can't wait to see the name!! Excellent chapter, as always!
Author's Response: Well, normally James is kept beyong reproach and it is either Lily or Dumbledore glamouring Harry in these kinds of stories. I wanted to try something different, so I made James darker. ^_^

- Ok SO much to talk about here! First off, I still want to hit Snape in the face, because he's being SUCH an insufferable jerk to poor Harry (or should I say VICTORIA AHH but we'll get there). I understand that all of this must be upsetting/trying/hard for him, because god knows no one would be able to handle something like this gracefully, least of all Snape, but SOME empathy wouldn't kill the guy. But then again, would he be Snape if he didn't act like this? I love it and hate him, gah.
Secondly, I totally think Harry's behavior is justified. The poor kid is being asked SO MUCH about something that will change her life and who she is. It's no wonder this kid keeps exploding everywhere. I want Lily to like, come back from the dead and hug this poor girl forever.
I love love LOVED that she chose the middle name Harriet-- it's like she's keeping a part of herself there. SUCH a good choice-- and I LOVE the name Victoria and that Snape had a hand in it. I'm really for father-daughter feels, though I think that's a long time coming. GAH.
The name of this chapter also hit me right in the feels. Amazing job, as always! I await your next update eagerly!
Author's Response: I think she was justified too ^_^ The name of the chapter was also meant to show the change in what Harry is to him. In the beginning she is Potter, which makes her part James and that is the light he views her in, after her true self is discovered she becomes 'the girl' because he doesn't know how to deal with her, now that she is an Evans that more or less is going to remind him of how much Lily she is every time he says it.

- Oh I love it. I love it so much. Oh my god what are words. It's so terribly heartbreaking but SO good. I love how James and Lily get so mad at him for dying and Snape is just ??????

That line gave me chills.
Poor Snape, to mention it. This poor guy can't catch a break.

- Uh, WHOA, that was kind of amazing. It was so beautifully realistic and intense and angsty and in character! I've always wondered what the scenario would have been like if Snape had been there. It was seriously so great-- especially when Harry threw that punch. You can't blame him-- this moment in the books was seriously heartbreaking, and having Snape here makes it all the more intense. Bravo!

This is seriously amazingly, brilliantly written. Everyone is so WONDERFULLY in character.
Severus' bewilderment at the situation is just great, and the concern over the boy he hates so much. And, of, course, any mentioned of that unrequited Lily love is just great.
You really capture Harry well after Sirius' death. His actions and confusions are spot on. I particularly like how when Snape first brought him to his home, he started the hyperventilate, just because so much had happened that he hadn't been expecting and was SO outside the norm.
I would have left reviews on other chapters, but they were rather on the shorter side and I didn't want to stop reading :P
I hope to see an update soon!

And you're totally right, btw. My chapters are a bit short - but it's only because I'm a Work From Home mama with a hubby and two kids, lol. I'm lucky if I can sit for a solid 10 minutes of writing before having to jump up and feed someone, clean something, fix something, prevent someone from dying (my one-year-old is in a climbing stage)... UGH. So thank you for your patience with me. I try to give a lot of "bang for your buck", so-to-speak. I can't wait to share more with you!! :)
